I've stopped here several times with my family, most recently with my partner. I will write the review based off my most recent visit. We visited on a Sunday, so it was understandably busy. That's pretty common for restaurants. One area that could use improvement I will note is the waiting/ host area. It felt somewhat disorganized, and guests seemed unsure where to stand or who was next in line. There was a host stand but no one there when we came in. Servers kept walking past. People were coordinating among themselves to determine the order of queue. Adding clearer signage or having a set host could help create a smoother experience for busy days. The food was average overall. Our waitress was friendly, and offered recommendations despite the busy time. After being seated, there was a wait before our drink order was taken. Honestly while waiting on my drink, I browsed the menu and already was ready to order by time they took our drinks. once that was taken, the food arrived within a reasonable timeframe. The restrooms were the biggest ick of our visit. They had single bathrooms with clear vacancy indicators on the doors with working locks. They were running low on toilet paper, dark, and there was a smell that was similar to a hot, sweaty gas station. On a positive note, plenty of parking with spaces both in front of the restaurant and in a larger lot on the side of the building. Signs to get to there were clear both on the highway exits and near the business. Overall, the experience was okay. I think we would come back for food and sit-down experience. In my continuing efforts to get a hot dog in each county in Virginia, I pulled into the Pink Cadillac Diner for an early lunch on a Thursday in Rockbridge County, Virginia. It was quiet as we walked up but two vans of tourists pulled in right behind us so we quickly got inside and were sat. The vibe of the place was very classic. I especially liked the pink coffee mugs. We had looked at the menu online in advance so we had settled on our order. We got The King, peanut butter, banana, and bacon, Elvis's favorite sandwich with an order of onion rings. With permission from our server we also got a hot dog off of the children's menu with chili, mustard, and cole slaw on the side, with a side of fries. Our food came out quickly. The sandwich was a nice size on really well-toasted bread. I couldn't taste much bacon. The peanut butter and the bananas were the primary flavors. The hot dog was good. The chili was stew-chili and not a classic hot dog chili. The big tomato chunks were the big clue as it was set down in front of me. That being said, we still enjoyed it (we split and shared both). The onion rings were especially good. Our server was really kind and attentive even while she got pulled away to help with the big group that came in after us. I'll have to say the food was about the least impressive I've had in awhile. Should have known by the shabby condition of the menus, and appearance of the restaurant but don't always judge a book by its cover...well. I should have. We were looking for something close to the Natural Bridge attraction and were hungry but should have driven the extra 20 min to Lexington. Not sure how anyone could rave about the food. Burgers were thick but bland and poor quality beef. "Homefries" were not fresh, tasted stale. Even the eggs were less than desirable. Hard to ruin eggs unless they are cooked too long or not long enough but somehow they managed to do that. Believe me, Waffle House would be an improvement over this place. I stopped into Pink Cadillac Diner with my partner during a long travel day filled with traffic (week before Thanksgiving), and it ended up being such a fun and nostalgic break! The diner is decked out in 1950s décor with Elvis Presley touches, the menu pays tribute to the King and his favorite foods -bacon and peanut butter anyone? We ordered burgers, my partner got the Mac Attack, and it looked absolutely delicious, (mac and cheese on a burger) with sweet potato fries. I went with a regular hamburger and added the Pink Cadillac sauce on the side plus pickles. Highly recommend both additions! Service was friendly, and the food hit the spot without taking too long, which was perfect for us while on the road. We arrived for breakfast and stood at the host stand forever before being acknowledged or seated. When we were seated it was in a dirty booth that had not been wiped. The server (Chloe) knew it had not been wiped because she cleaned the last of it while we were standing there. Luckily I have kids and brought wipes so I took care of it myself, I also wiped up the strands of stranger hair left behind in the booth seat. The atmosphere wasn't terrible, the place has potential and was relatively busy. The food was not great. No sausage in the biscuits and gravy, dry biscuit. Overcooked gristly sausage. Small portions. My son and I stopped in for lunch the other day. We arrived like around 1130, so easily found a seat. We both ordered the big double cheeseburger with fries, it had a name I can't recall but everything is Elvis themed!) More people filed in; seemed to be both locals and families traveling. Anyway the food came quickly, it was outstanding, the server was prompt and attentive refilling our drinks and checking on us. I've gone by this spot a bunch and never stopped. Upon arrival, we were told a 30 min wait to be seated even though there were multiple tables open and multiple servers working. We finally got sat and ordered our food, I ordered the Mack Burger which comes with mac&cheese and bacon, my husband ordered The King which is a peanut butter, banana and bacon sandwich, and my toddler got the kids chicken nuggets. It took 45 mins to get our food. My husband's peanut butter sandwich was terrible and he ordered sweet potato fries which were cold and hard. They brought him out regular fries instead. Womp womp. Decided to try this place because it was super close to Dinosaur Kingdom II, but it was a bust. The whole theme made it seem promising, but, unfortunately, it was pretty dirty inside. The bathrooms had toilet paper all over, no paper towels, and absolutely no soap-- my daughter and I had to go to the men's bathroom to wash our hands. The water temperatures were reversed-- right is hot and left is cold. My poor toddler kept screaming about how hot the water was while washing her hands until I realized what was happening. Our booth was not much better. Everything was kind of sticky and the floor under our feet was pretty gross. A table near by also had kids and one accidentally knocked their drink over. Our waitress, whom was helping another table, said to leave it and she would bring out a few towels. The spill definitely sat there for a bit before anyone came back to clean it up. When we left, there were still napkins laying on the floor. When I had gone to check out, another table apparently had a spill and our waitress definitely wasn't happy. She expressed that if another table had a spill, she was going home. The food looked okay, but wasn't... I got the Shut Yo Mouth burger without the slaw. I asked for it to be cooked medium, it was well done. The pulled pork was probably the best part of it. The fries were absolutely terrible. I don't know when they were made, but they were stone cold and had absolutely no seasoning. Even my 3 year old spit them out. My husband tried one of our daughters' chicken nuggets and said they tasted like grease... after she choked down like 3 of them. My son's pancakes were rubbery and he had so much trouble cutting them. My husband ordered the chicken biscuit breakfast and said the only redeeming part of the meal was the home fries. My daughter's meal came with ice cream, so we went to the ice cream bar to get it. I watched a ton of the staff walk by us without even acknowledging that we were standing there. Some teenage guy (the entire staff was pretty young-- teenagers and our waitress, who was probably in her early 20s) came over and got us our ice cream, but a to go order walked in behind us, so he made it a point to check on that guy's food first. Take look at their Burgers especially the Mac-Attack or the Elvis hubbba- hubba.
