A few years ago I stepped in to get a boutonnière for my anniversary. The florist threw something together in about 5 minutes. It was beautiful. Fast forward to this Valentine's Day. I took my five-year-old on a "date." Again, I stopped in to get a super simple boutonnière for him. And yet again, they came through. My son was the sharpest dressed kid ever. We used Pink Pelican Florist for our wedding, which took place at the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa. We were extremely happy with their service. I can't say enough good things about Jill. She was amazing! She listened to us and asked all the right questions. She was very attentive and reassuring. We were confident everything was in good hands. They decorated for the ceremony (aisle runner, lanterns, pew flowers, hanging bud vases from the trellis and decorative fountain flowers/ferns) and provided our bouquets, boutonnieres and flower girl petals. The crew arrived right on time as scheduled and we didn't see anything until just before the ceremony. Everything turned out beautiful just like we had imagined! My first experience with Jill and Jamie of Pink Pelican Florist was five years ago when my eldest daughter decided to have a destination wedding in Vero Beach Florida. All of the planning and preparation had to take place over the phone and via the internet because I live in Pennsylvania. I cannot praise Jill enough for the way she maintained constant communication with me during the entire planning period. In addition, she truly listened to what my daughter's vision was for her wedding and then designed the most gorgeous flowers for the wedding. We were extremely impressed when we saw the incredible things Jill proved she could do with floral design. She has creativity beyond compare! My daughter really loves orchids so Jill went to town with orchids! They were strung from the chuppah along with beautiful crystals and candles, they were inside cylinders, they were floating in water, and they were repurposed, too! After the ceremony, all of the flowers were used again during cocktail hour as well as on the place card table and the party favor table. All of our wedding guests were in love with the flowers and I received many compliments about all of the details to which Jill paid attention. Fast forward...five years later, when I start planning my younger daughter's wedding, we spent months searching for a florist. Since the wedding would be in Pennsylvania, we thought that we would explore our options locally. Well, let me just say that after meeting with 5 or 6 florists, we decided there was no comparison to Jill at Pink Pelican! Regardless of their prices, their designs and vision were not impressive at all. When I asked for a sample of what they could do based on a photo I found on Pinterest, the result was horrendous! One of the florists actually put together something with artificial greens and though I wouldn't notice. Really? I took a chance and called Jill on the phone to ask if she knew someone in the Northeast that could decorate the wedding in a similar fashion as she did five years ago. To our very lucky surprise, Jill offered to drive flowers and her fabulous designs all the way up north for us (Pink Pelican is located in Sebastian Florida). Jill informed me that they love to travel and that August was a perfect month! I couldn't believe it! I was thrilled at first. Then I thought, I must be crazy to expect a florist from Florida to drive twenty hours away to do a job for a wedding (and it wasn't a huge wedding either only 160 guests). Anyway, let me just say.....not only did Jill do a magnificent job (the wedding was yesterday), it was better than we could have imagined! Everyone was raving about the flowers! Even the people from the venue were amazed and said they had not ever seen anything like it! It was like an enchanted, organic garden with the biggest garden roses that smelled heavenly! Jill from Pink Pelican is reliable and trustworthy, and her prices are very reasonable. Her creativity is unmatched. She always checked with me either by calling, texting, or emailing about new ideas she was coming up with for the wedding flowers. Nothing was overlooked, my daughter was ecstatic, and I am thrilled to be able inform anyone reading this review what a pleasure it is to work with this very special and talented florist. My husband and I got married in Vero Beach, FL in May. Being from Chicago, this was a destination wedding. We had a very small and intimate wedding and to be honest, flowers were not high on our list as they don't last and we would rather spend extra money on entertaining our traveling guests. Pink Pelican was the 1st florist I spoke with and though I was taken aback by her intimidating and almost rude email stating that I will not find a better florist for the price and quality; that their reputation speaks for its self and I will be lucky to find a florist to do our small order (3 bouquets, 4 boutonnieres, and 2 corsages) the week of Mother's day, we decided to work with them as there were no bad reviews and prices were comparable with other florists. Jill was pleasant over the phone in making final arrangements and a few months later when we met her to confirm the order in which she took extensive notes. On the big day, we came to realize (while I was putting the corsage on my Mom 10 minutes before the ceremony) that the entire order was incorrect. The orchids in the boutonnieres and corsages that I had ordered were replaced with mini roses and the ribbon on my bouquet was wrong, as was the bridesmaids which had teal ribbon when I had specifically asked for white. I emailed Jill when returned home to let her know that order was wrong and not expecting anything in return, just thought it would only be fair to let her know since they speak so highly of themselves and their reputation. She apologized and wanted to make it right so my husband called her at her request where she apologized again over and over, stating she got another customers notes mixed up with ours, AND ready for this - she knew that she wasn't able to get the orchids and purposely didn't tell me because she said that she finds telling brides before the wedding that their requested flowers are not available only causes more problems so she waits to explain until after the wedding. I don't know who she has worked with in the past but I value honesty and trust and would have been fine if the orchids were unavailable if I had been given the option to pick something else. Instead I get mini roses - I really hate roses... Anyhow, she offered a partial refund to make up for it. Now almost a month later - no refund. My husband called her back and she had the audacity to argue with him saying my bridesmaids saw them and approved (they don't know what I ordered), then said I said they were fine (I did not see them), then said she had a death in the family (I understand sincerely as we did too the day we returned home from our honeymoon), and offered excuse after excuse. I don't want excuses, I paid for something I did not receive and was OFFERED a refund, and didn't get that either. The conversation ended with Jill basically telling my husband that we are cheap (we paid her $700) and it's not her problem that we couldn't afford our f'n wedding and hung up on him. I have never worked with anyone that spoke so highly of their reputation, quality and 23 years in business for them to work in such an unethical and crude manner. I don't expect anything at this point from Pink Pelican, the disappointment is enough, but I relied on reviews for my planning and hope to help any future destination brides with the insights of our experience with Pink Pelican. read more
