Pink Shutter deserves 10 starts out of 5!! I'm sure you've seen the cheap-o groupons for random phootbooths for 50% off, but I would definitely take Pink Shutter into consideration. Customer Service: There were three photobooths at the Yelp 'Too Hot to Handle' event (a smart idea to avoid long lines in the hot, hot heat). I was pretty annoyed at the loud scream-o music and the sun beating down on me, but as soon as I got to the front of the line, the guy working the photobooth instantly diffused my irritability. You best believe we took advantage of the free photos at the event, and went to every single photobooth - and the customer service was up to par at each one! If you're looking to work with professionals who treat you and your customers (or party atendees right), I would definitely come here. Photobooth: SoOo. MATCH. FAHN. Think modern photobooth - digital, touch screen, and easy interface. Three pictures, 10 seconds in between, and that's it! There were a lot of fun props to play with such as boas, mickey mouse gloves, lollipops and more - (my personal favorite, the indian headband...... despite the leftover sweat from other Yelper's blech). Once finished, you wait no more than 60 seconds for the developed product! Picture quality: Crisp, and clean! We were told if they're hired, the event holder is able to work with the designer to design a border made to your liking. We hired PinkShutter for our wedding in March. After many unresponded emails and back much and forth with the CEO / co-founder Lance, we did not arrive at an acceptable resolution after the terrible service they provided. Here's pretty much a copy of the email we sent him recounting what happened: From start to finish there were some major issues. James (the photo booth operator) was at the root of the issue but frankly, the issues went beyond James and were with the technology itself. Photo booth did not start until 8:15. We had agreed (and paid for it) to have it up and running at 7:30. When he arrived, he disrupted the speeches/toasts because he was so late. We paid $50 extra for parking so parking troubles is no excuse. He was eating the whole time. We had 3- 4 guests that independently came up to me askin if I wanted them to correct his behavior. Initially he was eating noodles in a way that he literally had them hanging down his face as he cut them with his teeth, holding the bowl up to his chin to have it catch them. It was gross and unacceptable. If he was hungry, he should have eaten before he arrived at my party. He was drinking our alcohol the entire night - and didn't ask. He helped himself to our gourmet ice cream bar and ate that the remainder of the time. Again, didn't ask. He was essentially eating the entire time he was at our venue. It was gross, disruptive and unacceptable. The camera kept freezing - which we were able to confirm based on pictures. It also kept switching to flipbook mode - James didn't know why or how to fix it. Plus he was always multitasking with a bowl in his hands. Resetting it seemed to have taken another 10 minutes. James was either stoned or drunk the entire night. I had other guests comment on that. Multiple times. He was uncommunicative, sweating and flush. It was not hot in there and there were no other guests that were similar. He was under the influence of something and it was noticeable. James did not tend to the photobooth the entire time. even my wife said that he was no where to be found and she experienced it herself. She had to wander through the venue to find him and get him to reset the camera. Completely unacceptable that even my wife, the one who paid for it, could not find James and get his assistance. I understand that these are some of the perils of having staff that works events. I also understand that technology doesn't always work as it should. But from start to finish, this was unacceptable and disappointing. Truly - there are a ton of better photo booth options out there - don't try this. read more

Friendly, good print quality, but that's it. We hired Pink Shutter for our wedding, and I was very disappointed. I feel we didn't get our value as my friends had with other companies at their weddings. Setup - A PVC piped booth draped in curtain with a shabby wall to hide the camera behind. Ok, I know all modern photo booths are just DSLRs running on a program, but let's not make it obvious! Additionally, the process was too slow, touch screen slow to respond, and time between shots too long. Inexperienced Staff - My wife and I decided to have a few pictures, and the pictures were clear when people were up close, but blurry in the back of the booth. I asked the staff to fix it - and they couldn't! I gave them a hint saying, 'you need to change the f-stop or the focus'. The staff looked at each other clueless. They're reply, "I'm familiar with point-and-shoots, so i don't know what you're talking about." and "well, the camera is behind here, that's about all i know". I HAD TO FIX THE CAMERA - THE GROOM HAD TO FIX THE PHOTO BOOTH. 1 Staff Member Too Many - They had two staff members there who just stood by their large sign with they're hands folded, talking to each other. I've seen 8 other photo booth companies before; all had 1 person on staff, and they were both sales / technical. For a wedding, you know what having two people means: extra meal, extra cost. Excessive Advertising - A huge poster stand-up stood next to the photo booth for Pink Shutter felt like my wedding was a trade-show. I can understand advertising for your business (you had 220 potential clients at my wedding), but it doesn't have to be obtrusive. At a trade-show you need to be seen / self-promoting. At a nice wedding in a nice golf club, you need to be discreet. Excessive Cost - Beware, they're is a "travel fee", and it's big. I can understand some travel fee - but for something that breaks down to the trunk of your car, a two hour, 130 mile drive: the $$$ travel fee from Sac to San Jose was way too much. Also, props are NOT included in the price, they're also extra $$. NOT worth it. Other companies have better props, and include that in their price. Wrap Up - PROS: they're friendly; print quality was good; designer for custom photo border delightful. CONS: inexperienced, unnecessary staff; excessive advertising; excessive ($$$) travel fee; props were meh. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND PINK SHUTTER. There are plenty of other photo booth companies that will do a much better job, have a knowledgeable staff member, and more discreet self-promotion. read more

An excellent service overall. We hired them for our wedding and couldn't have been happier with the result, as evidenced by the many, many smiles in the photos they snapped. It's an amazingly simple and effective concept: stand in line, head in with some friends (props optional), push the button and pose for a succession of four shots that are printed instantly for you to take home. You can later download them from their website as well. The price for a couple hours was well worth the money. The guy manning the booth was a little moody as reported by some of our guests, but he stayed an additional 45 minutes beyond his agreed time to be there so that makes up for it. Similar to Nicole M. I purchased a Groupon deal and experienced difficulty contacting them & had a slow response from them. They gave the same excuses that they were really swamped, etc etc. I came very close to cancelling our groupon but we ended up finally getting confirmation from them (after a week of trying to get our date confirmed). They showed up on time & were very nice and professional at our event. Everyone loved the photobooth. As they were leaving I was told I would get the photos two weeks later. When 6 weeks had gone by with no contact from them, I followed up to get an update. I was told they would check the status and get back to me. After that, two more weeks went by and I hadn't heard/seen anything. I finally got the photos two months after our event. All in all I'm happy with the photos & our experience with them at our party, but it was not worth the money we saved on living social having to deal with poor communication & response times. It's a shame because they have potential, they just really need to work on their communication & organization. read more

They gave me countless excuses why they didnt get back to me, and excused their rudeness by telling me that the living social deal ruined their employee's holidays. Boo. Hoo. I work through every single holiday, and I would NEVER complain about getting business!!! Without business coming in, those holidays probably wouldnt be very enjoyable. I had the pleasure of working with Pink Shutter recently. I first saw them at a wedding I attended, and was amazed at how well organized and friendly they were. Tiff and Tom were working the wedding, and they weren't just silently sitting there working the equipment. They talked to us, gave us quick instructions about what to do, and within seconds of stepping out of the booth we had 2 printed photo strips in hand. Usually I've seen massive lines of people waiting for the photo booth, but their line was always moving. Can't forget about the quality and layout of the photos. They looked very professional and fun, and even had a personalized logo for the bride and groom. I loved it! From that I reached out to Pink Shutter for a wedding event. We contacted them, and they quickly responded within the day. There was no waiting, no angst, nothing. Lance was our contact, and he was professional and answered all our questions. The 3 photo-booths set up as a part of Yelp's Too Hot To Handle event yesterday proved exceptional for the participants who captured the eventful day with smiles and silly expressions! All of the Pink Shutter vendors were courteous, friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable on their product. As a volunteer I had first crack at checking out ALL three of the booths (one as a fitting one, one I took photos with Betty R. and the other I posed for photos with my hubby) and I was overly impressed with how quickly these booths were set up, how great the on-the-go technology worked, how quickly the photos printed after each session and my husband thought the quality of the photos to be exceptional. While there were several note-worthy vendors present to wow us with their product Pink Shutter Photo-boots was the highlight hands down. Why? This was definitely the best experience I've had with a photobooth company! I had the pleasure of using their booths at a Yelp event, where they had 3 booths! The service was great, the people were very friendly. I think they could build more of a prop collection, but I think each book was supplied with a small box of props. The touch screen was easy to use, and the countdown made sue we were ready for the shot! The pictures came out immediately, and on gloss paper. I'm usually a fan of the traditional 4 picture narrow strips, but their product allows for bigger pictures and branding of the event. Great Job, pink shutter! read more

Photo booths are always a hit at yelp events! I loved how there were 3 booths, so wait times weren't too long. I also loved the various props they had. I didn't want to hold up the line, so I wasn't able to go through the whole chest full of them. Touch the screen to start. It captured 3 shots with 10 seconds between each one. The prints developed quickly and are high in quality. I like the border they created for the event. The guy at the booth was really friendly as well. read more

Pink Shutter PhotoBooths was at the Yelp "Too Hot to Handle" event, and I think they did an amazing job! I knew they were going to be there, but I didn't expect for there to be THREE different booths set up! The people at the booths were extremely nice, and everything went smoothly. I had the pleasure of experiencing Pink Shutter at the Yelp Too Hot to Handle party. They really outdid themselves by putting up 3 different booths, each with a different set of props or no props to give you 3 different photobooth experiences. We visited all 3 and had fun but different experiences in each. The first booth we visited had no props, which was still ok because you just have to work with what you've got!!! But when we visited the other 2 booths and came across the props, we had even more fun!!! All of the representatives were very nice and helpful. I thought the time lapse between each take was just enough time and I really liked the layout of the prints. I'm used to seeing photobooth pictures as the thin vertical strip I REALLY liked that these prints were larger (4x6) and the layout went across horizontally. This is definitely different from the rest and I would recommend using them for an event! I really like how they often have deals too! Right now I see a deal for $100 for $200 worth of services. We held my husband's 40th birthday in an intimate setting with ~50'of our closest friends. I was unsure about booking a photo booth because it wasn't as big of an event as a wedding, graduation or company party. Having the Pink Photo Booth was the perfect addition for entertainment for our guests. Mike was an amazing attendant and had a great sense of humor. The graphics that Heather created for the photo borders were unique and captured his love of sports. If I had to say a random fact about me- it would be that I'm a photo booth whore. I love the sheer fact of going into one and capturing a moment or a time. So when I had my graduation/ birthday party, pink shutter was the best. I did use a group on because I thought it was a great deal $600 for 3 hours of unlimited photos and $50/ hr for the travel fee ( the party was in Stockton) and the $20/ hr of split photos, so it could be divided amongst guests ( great for my 10 year old cousins - who don't want to share anything). I think the only con was that it didn't last longer. read more

This company was such a disappointment. We hired them for our company event. The Groupon had hidden cost. Can you imagine a photo booth WITHOUT PROPS- UNLESS YOU PAY EXTRA FOR THEM- that wanted to charge for extra photos? They had NO WALLS and exposed to the outside fully. We kept getting e-mails that we had to pay for Insurance that was not part of the deal, props that were not part of the deal- it ended up being $150.00 over what they had the Groupon for and that was with us providing OUR OWN PROPS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- there are a lot of others that do not have the hidden cost and provide a quality service. PLUS they will not work with you without wanting $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ read more

Pink Shutter photobooth was hired out for the year end banquet for University Cheer Force in Elk Grove. Brie from Pink Shutter Photobooths was the easiest to work with. Our pictures were promptly put up on facebook and website shortly after our banquet. We had 5 hours of FUN with little under 400 people at the banquet. A lot of happy cheerleaders went home with pictures at our end of the banquet. The pictures were fun to take with all the different props Brie had there for the girls to use. We will have these fun pictures to look at and the fun memories made. Several people requested website and number as they want to hire them for future parties. The Pink Shutter was fantastic! My work is in Elk Grove and we needed a extra little something to spice up our holiday party and The Pink Shutter was there to fill our need. We contacted them only 2 weeks before the party. They were very accommodating. The staff that was sent to manage the booth was awesome! We paid for 1.5 hours and during that time our staff ate dinner so that put the photos on hold... we were hungry. The people hosting the booth actually let us extend our time a little bit to finish eating and start up pictures again. This was wonderful! They were such a pleasure! Professional, polite, and truly interested in making our holiday function the best it could be. I will certainly use them in the future! I should note that this review is for the new "San Francisco Bay Area" branch of Pink Shutter (the event was in the East Bay). We contacted over a dozen photo booth rental places, and were about to hire one when I received a Groupon offer for Pink Shutter. I asked them a few preliminary questions, and they responded via email fairly quickly. The price was great for our tight budget (with the Groupon offer), and the website and reviews seemed decent (and I noticed they had done a Yelp event), so we decided on them. I was a bit wary because (1) the price was very low via the Groupon offer, (2) a few bad reviews on Yelp and (3) Groupon/LS offers tend to make it very difficult to contact a vendor. But I'm glad we went with Pink Shutter because everything turned out great. They were pretty responsive during the week or so that I was coordinating with them, via both phone and email. The person who setup and ran the booth was prompt, and very professional. There was a mixup with the custom graphic I had originally requested, but she was very quick to fix it and had it running by the time the guests arrived for the booth, so it was not an issue. She also had no problem adjusting the focus and time between shots (I noticed a previous Yelper had issues with this), which allowed us to move quicker and get more guests in during our limited time. The quality of the prints were great, and they printed very quickly, which again helped us get through more guests quicker. Since our guests were mostly grade school students, I requested a private online album, and they were able to do that and have it up the next day. No complaints -- they did a great job! PLEASE DONT BUY THERE SERVICE in saying that I have been waiting the right time to post my review about this private little company I originally paid for there service last year in July I was getting married in December the sales person we were dealing with at the time had made sure we would get private photo booth. When the time had come my fiancée and I were about to get married come to find out it wasn't private it was an open booth with props and it wasn't what I asked for I called the manager and complained about the issue about it wasn't private booth when we were promised to get it. Soon enough i got a call and they said they were sending someone with the private booth to the weeding and just to be clear it was an 1 hour 1/2 that passed we lost the time with out the private booth from then it was ok thought everything was good until we were waiting for the cd with all the pictures that were taken at the wedding and it was already middle of January I called and asked when we were going to receive the cd with all the pictures that were taken for our wedding and that was part of the package they finally sent it out and when we got it we where missing a lot of pictures. I called again complaining why are there pictures missing there response was because there were a lot of sexual and inappropriate pictures they don't want to be held responsible for privacy and making sure we don't post them on Facebook like who would that but I was pretty much not satisfied with the whole service and come to find out the person who was assisting us when we bought the package quit before telling anyone what was going on with our package. I tried to dispute the service and get a partial refund from the inconvenience they have put us through I was pretty upset about the mis communication but the owner offers us a gift card for next time to use there service and send out the remaining pictures I was like no I want some refund back for the incompetents they have put us through and thought we where promised and lost time for the photo booth. Please believe me not worth the hassle for a wedding probably prom so they know they are not expecting high expectations but not for a wedding DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS COMPANY. read more

All together, our guests loved the photobooth, but we heard from some of our guests that the photos were initially blurry and they had to ask the staff to adjust the machine. Also, part way through the pictures were at a tilt so that ceiling above the booth was visible in the pictures. I see from some of the other reviews that these problems were not just an isolated incident at our event -- the staff should be monitoring the photo quality not our quests. read more
