Came here for a wedding this past Saturday night and was so impressed! The wedding was super on brand for the couple because they both loved books (and it was semi LOTR themed hehe). I want to say there were about 150 people there and half the ballroom was tables, with the other half being the dance floor. Pros: - clean bathrooms - really beautiful space! a couple balconies (see pic) guests can access - it was literally the introvert's dream to go up in the balcony and survey the lower level with your drinks and people watch from above - This may be on the couple's part - but the organization of the event was really great - open bar in one corner, DJ to the side near the bathrooms, a front and center stage (the stage half of the room where the ceremony took place was converted to the dance floor after, while guests milled about in the other half of the ballroom where the tables were) Cons: - You have to pay for parking - either in an open air lot a block down on I street (it was like $17.50 for all day parking, the better deal than paying like $10 an hour or something), or the garage next to the galleria (also a good option). - Bride and groom said they weren't allowed to light any sparklers or confetti for typical send-off read more

Attended a friend's wedding here; I hadn't been to the Galleria since SHS Junior Prom 2003 "A Night in Paris," tbh. Parked at Park Tower Garage at 849 J, cost $20 open until midnight for guests. After the I Street Library closed, the wedding was a 5:30pm ceremony downstairs, followed by cocktail hour upstairs, then reception, dinner, and dancing downstairs. Not too bad, compared to a party I attended at the Citizen which had dinner on the roof but the rest was downstairs first floor level where getting all the guests in the elevators/stairs was a pain. Roomy spread for DJ and photobooth, dinner tables, buffet line and dessert table, drinks, and dancefloor. Lighting and draping were lovely. I'm not sure how much were other vendors but the venue did accommodate very well. Homemade/handcrafted wooden arch fit and easily disassembled, guestbook near entrance was a good photo spot (foot of staircase). Due to it being a Friday evening, the mariachi music from the restaurant in Cesar Chavez plaza could be heard during the vow exchange, but such is Sacramento. read more

The first place that Future Hubby and I looked at for our wedding reception. There is something really sweet about all that money that we are ponying up for our party going to support the Sacramento Public Library System, something we both love. The coordinators so far have been really accommodating, meeting us there on the weekend as live in San Francisco and we couldn't just drop in during the week. There was a mistake on my first contract but it was corrected fairly quickly, the other drawback is that you have to choose a caterer from the limited list, so if you have your heart set on a specific type of food this could be a deal breaker. I'm only dumping one of the stars b/c the event staff traded out coordinators on me without letting me know. Which, if you've ever been a bride, can be a tricky situation. But, whatevs... My wedding could not have been better at this location. Gorgeous setting, with an enormous, tall window, cute indoor balcony and large area that can be split in two so that you can do both the ceremony and reception there. The coordinators are great at planning out the design and making sure you're happy. The price is spectacular: affordable! And the bridal room is the size of a house. Granted, they don't offer much seating in the bridal room, and lack of mirrors, but a great room, nonetheless. The Library Galleria is gorgeous, clean and well-kept. The staff has worked with various caterers and DJs, so any event here will run smoothly and efficiently. Parking is a bit scarce, but for an extremely affordable price, you can rent out the US Bank Garage, or pay the attendant to stay later so people at your event can party til the break of dawn-style. read more

I had my wedding here January 27th and it was amazing. The venue is nice and so is the staff. They worked with me on so many things even though I'm not the easiest person to work with when it comes to stuff like this. They do have a lot of rules you can't bring your own food, you can't bring your own alcohol but you can drop it off with a caterer to bring for you. You have to have insurance for the night of the event. Other than those things this place is perfect. I just went to a wedding here and I totally fell in love with this place. It's very large and grand looking, with large windows and an elegant balcony area that you can pay to rent out as well. The wedding I attended did just that, so we had cocktail hour on the balcony while the staff broke down the ceremony site on the ground floor and prepared for the reception. Later in the night the bride threw her bouquet from the balcony as well...adorable! I've looked at their site to get an idea of prices, and it is surprisingly affordable. I have always loved beautiful libraries, and this one is a beautiful one indeed! I went here for an awards banquet held by the Asian/Pacific Bar Association of Sacramento (ABAS). I really liked the set-up there. The high ceilings were a plus. It was just a beautiful event. The only criticism (if you could even consider this that) is that there were round tables set up, and it was a little hard to get through. This particular space was long and on the narrow side, so the round tables made it hard to navigate and pass through. Other than that, I loved it. read more

My best friend recently got married here. It isn't the biggest place out there, but it certainly is beautiful! The staff was courteous and respectful, and everything went pretty smoothly. The floor space itself isn't huge, but they split it up in halfs, so you can have the ceremony on one side, and the reception on the other. Then when the ceremony is over, they clear it out and turn it into a dance floor. Great use of space. The parking is horrible, but its downtown Sacramento, what do you expect? Its within walking distance of a bunch of hotels and restaurants though. So we were able to walk back and forth to the venue for rehearsals and such. The Tsakopolous Library Galleria was a wonderful place to hold our reception. When we saw it in a wedding magazine, we knew it was a top contender on our "Wedding Venue" list. It was the first place we looked at... and the only place. We booked the same day. As the bride, I already imagined how our wedding reception would be... and on the wedding day it was nearly perfect. We loved the tall ceilings and windows. It was spacious, yet intimate. The library went perfect with our "Love Story" theme where we used library book cards as save the dates, programs as a mini book, vintage books as centerpieces, and famous love stories as table names. We were able to use the large screen for our video presentations at no extra cost. We used the lobby entrance as a red carpet entrance for our guests (gave a little "wow" factor as opposed to coming in through the side entrance). The staff was great. Prima Diva was our coordinator. She was personable, friendly and was great at responding almost immediately to our emails. Only irk was we we didn't receive our layout until a few days before the wedding, however, she planned it out so well that we didn't need to make many changes. One star off because you have to pay extra to use the extra "staging" room... I think it should come with the rent since we rented the whole facility for the day. We're very happy we chose the Library Galleria for our wedding reception. =) Very unique place and our guests loved it. read more

My husband and I used the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria for our November wedding. The building is beautiful and spacious. It was perfect for our small (60 guests) wedding. The staff was awesome at answering all our questions and responding to my emails almost immediately. On our wedding day, everything went smoothly and was set up exactly like I expected. The only draw back is the limited number of caterers available, we went with All Seasons All Reasons (which ended up being a disaster, honestly the only bad part of our wedding day). We had our wedding here. This place is GORGEOUS! It looks like you'd pay out the ears for this kind of luxury, but in fact it was very reasonably priced. We decorated the place just a little because you don't NEED to decorate much. Parking was a little tough, but it's downtown Sacramento so it was as good as it could be. There was an issue with the adjoining parking garage, but that was of no fault to the venue. Our only bit of criticism was with the day-of-wedding coordination; it was a bit choppy to get going and there was some miscommunication between us and our facility rep.
