I have been going back and forth for 9 years regarding getting Lasik as I kind of like my glasses but during covid and having to wear a mask and glasses that fogged all the time made me run to get Lazik. If you are thinking about getting SMILE and are as nervous as I was about doing it, this review is for you! I cannot speak more highly of my experience with Manhattan Lasik and Dr. Niksarli. Before my appointment: I had a phone consultation, had all my questions answered, and scheduled my surgery about a month in advance at the Paramus, NJ location. Although excited, every time I told people I was having it done, I followed it up with "...if I don't chicken out." All this to say: I am a big weenie, so when I tell you if I can do it, anyone can - I mean it! Before the Surgery: When I arrived at the center it was very welcoming, as were the people. Literally everyone was incredibly nice! First, they did a quick test to make sure I was a candidate for SMILE. Next, I squared away the paperwork, payment, and received my post-op instructions. Then Dr. Niksarli himself tested my prescription and fine-tuned it before surgery. They gave me the standard dose of medication to help me relax, but I was still extremely nervous. They gave me more medication and more time, and Dr. Niksarli assured me they would not take me back until I was 100% comfortable. I even heard him tell his assistant to take extra good care of me because I was so nervous. I was so heart-warmed by how kind and understanding everyone was - I was never once made to feel like I was holding anyone up, or that my anxiety was silly, or anything like that. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that! The Surgery: First, the doctor's assistant went over everything I needed to know & what I should expect. She gave me a little post-op care bag with two kinds of eye drops (medicated for the first few days, and artificial tears to use as needed), heavy duty sunglasses, and a Tylenol PM to take that evening to help me rest. She gave me a teddy bear to hold and a blanket to keep me warm. She also told me a little about the devices they were going to use to keep my eyes open, which was what I was most nervous about. She assured me that it would not be uncomfortable, and that I could still blink, and it would move with me. She was 100% right - I barely felt like I had anything there at all and felt absolutely no discomfort whatsoever at any point. She also gave me lots of numbing eye drops. When the doctor came in, he was again very warm and kind. They do one eye at a time, and the eye not being worked on is kept closed. I cannot emphasize enough how gentle and light of hand Dr. Niksarli was - even the simple task of moving my eyelashes so they didn't get caught was so gentle! The first part is the laser, which only lasts about 30 seconds per eye, and you literally feel NOTHING. All you do is look at a red dot - that's it! Then they close that eye and do the same thing to the other. The second step, you look at a bright white light instead of a red dot, and everything is blurry, so you don't see anything but the light. Dr. Niksarli talked to me throughout the entire thing, and told me how great I was doing, which was very comforting. Before I knew it, we were done! The whole thing lasted maybe 20-25 minutes. After the surgery: I was tired afterwards, so when I got home, I went right to sleep. I woke up to eat some dinner and then went back to bed. My vision was immediately clear, aside from some blurring around the edges. My eyes felt a little irritated for the first couple of days, as if I had an eyelash in my eye. By Day 3, the eyelash feeling was gone, as were the blurry edges. The only thing I had that first week was some dry eye and sensitivity to light. I made good use of the solar shield glasses, as well as the artificial tears. Two weeks later: I went in for my post-op follow-up and went to the NYC location this time. By this point, I was already seeing great - my left eye was 100% perfect, and my right eye was only slightly less clear, but not significantly. Dr. Niksarli had a quick look at everything and assured me that the right eye would continue to improve as my eyes stabilized. He was right - it's been about a month since my follow-up, and it has only continued to improve, and my vision is basically perfect. He told me to schedule another follow-up for 2 months later, so I will go back in about a month. If you are on the fence or feeling nervous, take this as your sign to DO IT! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Trust me when I say you'll come out of there thinking, "that was it?" Thank you so much, Dr. Niksarli and team - this was a life-changing experience, and I am so grateful not only for my sight, but for being made to feel so comfortable and well taken care of. I came to this location a couple of weeks ago for a consultation. The staff was incredibly welcoming and nice. The office is very clean and quiet. The consultation didn't take very long and they made me feel very confident about the procedure. My procedure was done in the Manhattan office and went really well. I was referred to Manhattan Lasik Center by a couple of friends who has their lasik surgeries there. Going into the consultation I was on the fence about whether or not I should get the surgery. After about 45 minutes of talking about the surgery, the results and asking about a million questions, I made the decision to have it done. I felt no pain during or after the surgery. After the surgery it pretty much just felt like I had an eyelash in my eye which went away about 24 hours later. At my follow-up appointment the next day I could already see 20/20. My only complaint is that the day of the surgery I spent about 2 hours in the waiting room and the actual surgery was only about 20 minutes. However, at the consultation they did tell me to prepare to be there for 3-4 hours, so it's not like I didn't already know I was going to be there for a while. Wow- what an amazing thing to do to be able to see 20/20! I was so nervous about the procedure and Dr. B was patient, and walked me through every detail so I knew what was going on and didn't freak out. I didn't feel any pain at all and the whole procedure was done in about 20 minutes with a break in between. I have been putting off having Lasik for years but I wish I had done this sooner knowing now that it was painless and that I could go back to work the next morning! They walk you through which procedure your eyes would be eligible for so it can range with the recovery time. I had no pain in the middle of the night when I had to keep my eyes closed after the procedure and now just need eye drops after sleeping since my eyes are a little dry which the doctor said improves over the first few months. It's only been 4 weeks so far and I am SOOO happy I did this for myself!! read more

I recently did LASIK at MLC and the results are phenomenal. I am loving my 20/20 vision and especially the next day recovery! (Note: recovery duration varies with the procedure type) I knew very little about LASIK but the doctors at MLC provided everything I needed to know and more. Their customer care and service is top level. I felt very comfortable before, during, and after the surgery. I have no doubt that MLC is one of the best (if not THE best) in this business. All their doctors are extremely qualified and knowledgeable. Their receptionists/staff are also super pleasant and friendly. If you're thinking about getting LASIK, just do it sooner than later, you won't regret it. It really is a life-changing experience. There's nothing to be scared of, especially with these guys. It's was a horrible experience. . They do anything to get you through the door . They don't care about the rest. I was told that my health insurance (Blue Cross blue shield )participated with them Therefore they would cover the entire procedure , I just had to pay cash upfront . I even went out of my way to have them speak to the insurance rep directly where they confirmed that in fact they did participated. After everything was said and done I ended up having to pay out off my pocket because they kept giving me the run around as to fill this form or that form. One year later and many claims , I given up and just took the lost. Very frustrating because I could have gone to Dr.Delarosso and gotten it for free.
