We went this past weekend and it was very crowded and hard for two of us to find a pool that we wouldn't be shoulder to shoulder with strangers. Empty cups and aluminum alcohol bottles floating in tubs. Kids were picking up cups discarded by adults, filling them with dirt and pouring them into the pools while parents partied. We moved a few times and it wasn't a singular occurrence. Many people mentioned they were overstaying their 2 hour pass because the was no way staff could identify them. I used work at a hostpring so I know how hard it is to enforce, but understand that it causes issues like we were seeing. Hot water was nice, but the overall experience could be better. Just dont expect it to be relaxing.

The…read moreRainbow Hot Springs is a 10 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Pagosa Springs. Also located in the San Juan National Forest. The forest occupies land in Archuleta, Conejos, Dolores, Hinsdale, La Plata, Mineral, Montezuma, Rio Grande, San Miguel and San Juan Counties!! They have plenty of campgrounds (with friendly campground hosts) and nearby Horseback Riding opportunities. I came here with a good friend of mine, as we visited South Fork, CO. The weather was perfect in May of 2021 and I needed a Chilly Mini for my neck. We spotted some gorgeous waterfalls and really unique plants. San Juan appeared to have had a forest fire in the last 5 years, because we definitely witnessed some aftermath. Lots of old, dead and burned down tree trunks. The trail is fairly easy, a little rocky, but such a great cardio workout for your calves. We spotted some wonderful rivers that kept my friend and I very cool.

We enjoyed the different pools on the ground floor even doing the cold plunge. Each pool is a different temperature to suit many different preferences. The roof has a sauna, hot tub and two soaking pools along with chairs. Our appointment came with a private room where we changed and stored our cloths. The room next to it was where we received our massages. The masseuse worked several knots out of my back and I felt wonderful afterwards, my wife said it may have been the best massage she has ever had. We then soaked in our private tub for an hour with two drinks and two bottles of water. This was truly a wonderful experience for out 20 anniversary trip.

Our room had a queen bed that was so comfortable we slept great. There are multiple bathrooms on the floor some private with shower, private with only a toilet, or shared with toilets and showers. It's also a great location where we could walk to get food in downtown. We recommend Columbine Bar and Grill and Fahrenheit Coffee Roasters.

Alice, and John were fantastic as well. But all the staff are fantastic! This year especially. We've been several times and this was by far our favorite staff experience. Soaking under the stars in the hot springs is incredible as are the communal dinners. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy but once you arrive you quickly see it was all very well worth it. I cannot say enough about how kind and helpful the staff were in helping us get cell service and internet and a comfortable place to wait the hours it took to get a tow truck and taxi service from the rental company. They researched ways to fix our car and provided information to help us find a way to get to Durango. They went FAR, FAR out of their way to help two people who weren't even staying with them. I can only imagine how they take care of their guests. The property is rich in natural beauty, and we hope to be able to actually stay here one day. We know we'll be in the kindest and most considerate of hands when we do.

They don't provide towels but they'll sell you a towel for $10 they don't provide lockers, but you can rent one for $.50 Like I said, I love the Hot Springs pool but it's expensive that's the worst thing I can say about it will I go again, ... 100% But bring $$.

We were checked in by a friendly lady who offered me a Veteran's discount. FWIW, currently, the prices charged seemed higher than those on the website, but lower than other soaking options. We brought our own towels and found a lounge chair to hold them. There are several pools and I was surprised to learn the lap pool is not geothermal water--cool city water there. The first pool was 88 degrees and designed for kids. Too chilly for me, but my son spent most of his time here playing water basketball and swimming around. Second pool was in the mid-90s and felt much better to me. I was also able to enjoy the 102 degree (about my threshold for being "hot") adults-only pool. Watching the pools and surrounding peaks as the sun set was awesome. Very nice. About these things were were stoked. We were not stoked to learn upon checkin that the slides had closed at 6pm, along with the activity pool. This info apparently relies on word of mouth--not their website--to know in advance. We'd have come the next morning had we known. Boo. Lame, even. With kids, this place is a winner if arriving well before the slides close. 6pm. You heard it here. Adults only? There are several better options nearby. 3.5 stars
