I had such high hopes for this clinic, but unfortunately, I need to agree 100% with the other bad reviews. SRM appears like a polished clinic from the outside and every single employee is very nice and friendly. However, the positives end when you try to get concrete, specific information from anyone as the employees start to feel like robots (case in point: the robotic "copy and paste" reply that most bad reviews get from Brad here on Yelp). 1) Lack of doctor and nurse presence. Seeing your doctor is a rare occurrence here, which I've gotten used to since many hospitals are like this too these days. But it is even harder to see or get ahold of your nurse, who is supposed to be your main point of contact. Whenever I have spoken to my nurse, she has been brisk and curt, rarely offering any substantial information. You're told repeatedly to communicate on the online Portal, which often malfunctions and cannot be accessed. This lack of communication leads to the scheduling of tests without any explanation at all, which ends up being costly as the rates are also not communicated until you get a big fat bill in the mail. As a patient here, you start to feel like an idiot as nurses breeze through explanations full of medical terminology as if everyone should know exactly what they're talking about. If you ask them to slow down or explain something in better detail, it is usually accompanied by an eye roll or condescending tone of voice. I have come to fear calling anyone at SRM because they manage to make you feel terrible just for having questions. The lack of patient respect is incredible. 2) Clueless front-desk personnel and phone operators. Calling to schedule a follow-up or appointment OR get any information on your case will make you want to pull your hair out. No one ever knows anything about your case or what particular appointment or treatment that you will need. This is probably because the front desk people are almost always brand new and don't know how the systems work (high employee turnover is a cause for concern!). If you're considering SRM, please read the other 1-2 star reviews and take them seriously. Employees seem sweet as syrup in person, but the longer you are a patient and need actual answers from them, their lack of care and attention to details becomes even more apparent. We chose SRM because of their doctors' pedigrees, their track record, and recommendations from colleagues, and we're very happy we did. SRM helped us discover the root cause of our infertility, and our doctor work with us to form and execute on a plan over the last 9 months that reflects our preferences and their expert input. We're now in the middle of our first IVF cycle (fingers crossed), but even if it doesn't work out this time (throw salt over shoulder, ward off evil eye, etc. etc.) we will be right back in the SRM office to plan the next step. Our doctor, the other doctors, and the rest of the staff have been friendly, supportive, informative, and tolerant of lots and lots of questions. We even got into acupuncture through the recommendation of our SRM doctor, and my wife's had half of her treatments on-site (the other half at the acupuncturist's office). As Ellen C. wrote, the clinic is a bit of a juggernaut - they are big, advanced, efficient, omnipresent (geographically), and the top local and regional experts in making babies when Mother Nature can't, at least on her own. For us at least, their sheer power was reassuring - it's like the old saying about not getting fired by buying IBM. They're like the New York Yankees of infertility (as a Red Sox fan, this pains me). But I wouldn't say they are impersonal in person - pretty much every staff member has been kind, chatty, and surprisingly aware of our patient file. Yes, you can get a rotation of doctors and nurses depending on when you go and what you go for, and if you want a personal, exclusive, and sustained relationship with your specific doctor, then SRM isn't for you. For us at least, we would rather have the best team and save the warm one-on-one fuzzies for when we get to spoil our hypothetical future children. I should also mention how their size gives a lot of flexiblity in appointment scheduling, both by time and locatoin. The finance side of things is all-business, which is fine. They offer good suggestions on how to best use insurance, honest answers to questions. Yes, it's very expensive and insurance won't cover it all, but you're either doing it and able to cover the finances, or you're not. The receptionists are great, especially the main one in Seattle -- friendly, efficient, and a great memory. We usually don't have to wait very long, and they've accomodated us on very short notice. The answering service (if you need to page someone after hours) is a bit clueless, sort of like a human tape recorder, but I guess that's typical. read more

Jennifer K. is correct that infertility is difficult, emotionally (and financially) draining. However, I've only recently begun treatment to freeze eggs so that I have the option to have a child later. I am not in the same emotionally drained position of many of the people who find themselves in SRM after trying for years to have children- and here's how it's gone. SRM feels a lot more like a sales environment than a health care facility. So if you choose to undertake this deeply personal, medical endeavor here, be prepared for that. Two of the three phone calls I've made to SRM to schedule required follow ups were never returned. The only call that was returned was my initial inquiry call. When I asked front desk staff about how to get in touch with them given my messages weren't returned, she was unapologetic. I've only beenable to schedule appointments once I am physically IN their office. Billing mistakes were made within the first week. Tests were done in duplicate to those I'd just had earlier that month with my own GYN after being assured this would not occur. SRM made that right- but my experience thus far tells me that the negative reviews have everything to do with SRM's shortcomings, not patients' emotional fragility. I wish I'd gone elsewhere. Frustrations like these shouldn't be standard in any business, but particularly not in one where clients invest so much. read more

I can't believe how nice and caring everyone is at SRM. You walk in are greeted by an outgoing receptionist who will get you tea and help you with anything you need. The doctors are great and soooo knowledgeable. You get your own nurse with her direct phone line and email - I'm not sure where else you can get this kind of service in a medical office. Also there is a free support group here - they really take care of the emotional aspect. The best part of it is that they root for you and truly want to see everyone get pregnant. Hopefully you never have to go here, but if you have trouble getting pregnant then you'll be in good hands here. read more

Seattle Reproductive clinic, particularly the billing department is a place where they do not care, it's strictly about financial gain. I waited a year to write this review, and after being hung up on the phone by the billing manager today, which is so unprofessional, it's time for a review. All I'm trying to get is information regarding an denied appeal from them for services, that were actually approved by UHC. I tried for multiple years to work with them, and had two failed IUIs, and most likely because they do not use different strategies for patients with autoimmune issues. I had $30,000 through United healthcare to cover egg freezing and after an appeal process most of all the services were covered according to the United Healthcare paperwork. I brought it to Seattle Reproductive to show them after seven months this was finally approved, and they immediately denied it never telling me why. So, I had spent almost 3 years working with them and got absolutely nothing out of it. I decided to go work at IVF Phoenix, whose protocol was tailored for me, and immediately got pregnant after 11 years. The only positive experience I had at SRM was my IVF physician who showed compassion and care, but do not expect that from many people at SRM. And do not expect to have respect from the billing manager, she will hang up on you and will not answer your questions and is always very defensive. It's happened multiple times over for three years of working with them. That's why I finally wrote my first review. I've always felt like she just didn't have the patients best interest at hand, and she should not be in this business if so. It's already so difficult to go through IVF and she made the financial part of it, so difficult. read more

I had an unsuccessful and very unpleasant experience at SRM. The doctor I was treated by was very incompetent, and I basically wasted 1.5 years of my life doing some weird tests and taking some expensive medications that didn't help at all. Their billing system is the worst! 6 months after I stopped being a patient I received a bill with the notice that they would use further collection efforts if I don't pay $75 in 5 days. This was the first time I actually saw this bill!!! When I contacted billing office they said that I have to pay this amount for having a 10-minute phone call with the doctor 8 month ago. When I asked why financial counselor didn't tell me that this "service" isn't covered by insurance, and I would need to pay for it out-of-pocket BEFORE I had this phone call with the doctor they didn't find any reasonable excuse. So, they just decided, that if I'm note paying money as a patient anymore, they could charge me for some weird "service" that I received long time ago. So, if you're looking for help with fertility issues, don't go to SRM, unless you want to have financial issues too! read more

If I could put zero stars I would. I really wish I had read these other reviews before looking into possibly donating. I started the initial screening process and was denied. No big deal....Except I just got a bill in the mail for the fertility counselors asking me over the phone about family history. Are you serious!? I double checked everything I signed and nothing said anything about any sort of financial responsibility. In fact, the tell you that you will have no financial burden and that everything will be paid for. If you ask me, this is a SCAM. Brad S., I see that you are very responsive in these Yelp reviews but don't give me the garbage of saying you're sorry unless you're going to nullify this bill. I am currently using SRM for my fertility treatments right now. The providers are great here but everything else is horrible. I've had to do multiple blood draws and each time time it takes at least 15-20 min. I've been there in morning where there are 7 patients and 1 medical assistant doing everything. Poor patient care and satisfaction. I wish there was another game in town that provides care. read more

I wish I had never stepped foot in this place. During your first appointment you will be lulled into a false sense of security by their "financial counselors" that you have super insurance that will cover most of the types of labs and tests that were being ordered, then you will have your blood drawn that same day before you have a chance to actually verify with your insurance that this one appointment will actually end up costing you over a thousand dollars out of pocket. Seeing all these bad reviews about SRM to me seems a little disturbing since every time I've been to the clinic all the staff and doctors have been wonderful. Let's start approx two years ago when I was referred to Srm to have a myomectomy I initially met with Dr Klein who is a cofounder if SRM (professional, knowledgeable and nice) after my appointment with Dr Klein she referred me to Dr Lin (also a cofounder) to do my surgery. When I met Dr Lin for my pre op appointment I realized I had a long ways to go to even conceive. My surgery went well and dr Lin and his staff were very supportive and explained the whole process. With surgery I had to wait six months to make sure my body fully healed. I'm have tons of coworkers and friends who have been treated by the Srm staff and have nothing but positive reviews. All the staff members have been so supportive. The best part of going to SRM is they have multiple locations! Their portal system is easy to use. read more

My wife and I have been working with SRM for about 8 years. Our experience here overall has been a very good one and in looking up the number to call and make an appointment today, I felt it was time to share my experience and hopefully provide some useful insight to people who are looking to find fertility services. The vast majority of our experience has been with one provider but over the years we have had the opportunity to meet many of the doctors and we have been happy with our experiences with all of them. The provider we have been working with is Dr. Lynn Davis, and I will say that Dr. Davis is the most caring, kind, thoughtful, and pleasant doctor I have had in my lifetime. I say that with the utmost sincerity. She has been truly amazing and no doctor in my life has made me feel more appreciated and listened to and cared for than her, and I am not even really the patient, my wife is. We have had real ups and downs with the fertility process and, in many ways, fertility treatment has been a very tough experience. Sure I have felt genuine joy and happiness with the people at SRM but I have also shed tears with the people there, I have felt heartbreak and loss and sorrow with them. In all those instances the doctors and staff have shown professionalism, courtesy, kindness and caring. I do not know what more you could ask for in a fertility clinic. There is nothing easy or inexpensive or emotionally relaxing about going through fertility treatment. I can safely say that there is no part of my marriage that has been more difficult, stressful and frustrating than not being able to naturally conceive children. All that being said, our experience with SRM has left us thankful to them for the work that they have done in helping us to have a family. I wish it was possible to give negative stars. This place does not even deserve one star. They just get your money and do not know what they are doing. Doctor charges you 250$ just to chat with you about daily routines so you are basically paying them to see doctor's face. We were there 3-4 times and did all the horrible tests as Amy Criniti( They don't even deserve being called a Doctor!!!!!!!!!) said. Then we went to see what doctor diagnosis is but you may not even believe it!!! She just started talking about routine things that normal people talk about. They have no knowledge of infertility, so I asked her if Progesterone would help and she said you can try it. My wife started progesterone which is really dangerous with terrifying side effects but guess what they did not even call to see if she is doing alright. I should say they d better go and open a bank for themselves cause they only care about money and nothing else. Plus never ever go to Amy Criniti. Now that I read reviews here I see what everybody is saying about this place. Never ever waste your time and energy here they don't know anything. read more

We had nothing but exceptional, top quality care at SRM. I do not understand the negative reviews, as we had the opposite experience in pretty much every situation mentioned. I myself was a bit concerned when we first decided to go to SRM with all the bad reviews, but they proved to be the right choice for something so important. Our doctor was fantastic and we ALWAYS saw our same doctor for appointments. If we were having a procedure or a scan and he was not available, yes we saw whoever was. That is to be expected when you have strict scheduling requirements working with the body and pregnancy. Every other doctor we ever had for these occasions was also great. We were NEVER pressured into doing IVF. Our doctor gave us all our options and always let us decide what we wanted to do and what we were comfortable with. Support staff were great at appointments, over email/phone, after hours, etc. We had a nurse assigned to us in addition to our doctor, and we ALWAYS saw her each time. She was also great with emails and phone calls. The finance people were also easy to work with and my emails were always responded to within the same day. While there are some strict payment requirements/deadlines, we were never pressured or dealt with rudely. We did eventually go through egg retrieval and IVF, and I was very impressed by the quality of care and the execution of both processes. Absolutely flawless. There are a lot of things that can go wrong, but everything was managed and handled properly. As a note, we have decent insurance, but nothing amazing. None of the fertility related things were covered and we paid out of pocket. The only things covered were consultation visits, initial testing, and anything to do with monitoring a pregnancy. Everything else for the egg retrieval and IVF were not covered, so don't think we got special attention because we had good insurance or anything like that. We had pretty much everything done at SRM that one can have done and all of it was top quality care. We had all the initial labs for male and female, dye testing for blocked tubes, multiple IUIs, surgical operations, egg retrieval, and IVF. I wouldn't trust anyone else for this care and we're lucky to have them here in Seattle. read more

Well, in the beginning I would give them 5 stars but as time went by I learned very soon that your not considered a patient but more a $$ sign. I will start off by stating my experience didn't get bad till we got knee deep in the IVF process. Here are the things that happened to turn my smile into a huge frown! 1. I was instructed to go to their Seattle branch as the Tacoma location is closed on the weekends. We were not told that there is no close parking & that you have to ring to get in. After finally finding a spot to park and ringing to get in we were late. I am called back only to be lectured about not coming late next time, then expects me to be relaxed during my ultrasound. I was very disturbed by this, if we weren't so far in the process I would of went elsewhere! 2. I started to feel odd. I looked up symptoms for being over stimulated & noticed that I have all of the symptoms. I contacted them & told them on my next visit that I thought I was being overstimulated. They checked my levels said they looked fine & reduced my medications. Obviously my levels weren't fine if they lowered my medication. About 2 days later I end up in the ER finding out that I was indeed overstimulated and that my lung was full of fluid, which is a symptom of being overstimulated. I had to have my lung drained, the ER doc contacted them to find out what she should do as she wanted to admit me. They instructed her to tell me to come straight to their Seattle location, which we did. They told the ER Doc that they were still going to go ahead with the implantation. We arrive and were told that my case was extremely rare, that they talked to several doctors and never heard of such a thing, and instructed me that I would not be able to have my implantation done. The doctor instructed me to see a pulmonary doctor as they felt that the fluid in my lung had nothing to do with being overstimulated. Then send me home after the ER doctor said they would most likely admit me in the hospital they use to monitor me! The pulmonary doctor confirmed that it was because I was overstimulated, and I have spoken to several women about their IVF process and almost everyone I had spoken to had their lung's filled with fluid as well. Proving that this is indeed not a a rare case. Now, because of this my eggs had to be frozen which puts them at a great risk now of not coming out correctly when they're defrosted. They also are billing me over $1000 to have them frozen and I don't feel that it is my responsibility to pay for their carelessness! 3. When we started this process we found out that our insurance would cover most of everything I was having done. The doctor even said that I had not met my limits & that probably everything would be covered. This was back in January 2012, we finally get a bill late November stating we owe over $3000. Almost a year later they finally bill us? They throw this bill at us and expect us to pay it within 10 days or they're going to take it to the collection agency. I don't find this fair. You can't expect to just throw a bill at someone & expect them to have the money right then and there after 8 months!!! Not to mention it's the holiday season. I can't believe w/everything that we have been through that they would threaten to send this bill to collections even after we told them that we were having it resubmitted as we felt that there was a imperfection in the bill. We also had made a $150 payment which apparently was not substantial to them. If they want to blemish my credit then I will take this a step further and contact my lawyer as a piece of paper I signed will not be valid on account of several reasons. I read bad reviews about their Seattle location, but I feel that this practice is accountable for both their Tacoma & Seattle location as I was seen at both and I had issues with both. I really liked my doctor so I gave them a chance. I feel like I made a HUGE mistake! We are currently pregnant (not by IVF) and I am a EXTREMELY high risk pregnancy. I can't deal with this UNNEEDED stress, and if I loose a chance to have a baby a second time around on the count of them I will be taking legal action. In this economy if u promise to make payments they still aren't happy & resort back to a paper I signed. I stopped going here in March. I had $3500 placed aside just for this. After 90 days went by we assumed we didn't owe anything & used the money to move across the country for a job. It has been 8 MONTHS, who would honestly think after 8 months they we would be billed. We already paid off 2 bills with them why would we assume there would be a 3rd? There was one for me and one for my husband!! Now there is a 3rd bill EIGHT months later? Irate beyond words! After speaking w/our insurance company all bills submitted are paid within 10 days not 8 months. They submitted the bill in late July when my last day of service was March 18th! They were paid in July, why are we getting a bill 3-4 months later? read more

Obviously one's end result matters most with a fertility clinic. We've had one negative cycle after another in the 3 years we've worked with SRM. Keep that in mind. On the plus side, the office staff is very nice and professional, the schedulers are accurate, the lobby is neat and there are untouched brand new magazines. I have found my nurse Amanda to be reachable and supportive. But I really did expect to have more doctor interaction when we spent over $20K on medical procedures. We have worked first with Dr. Lin and then Dr. Klein. Dr Lin is one of the most condescending doctors I have ever met with. He has the bad habit of talking to the man in the room and talking down to the woman. Even after I asked for numbers and statistics, and mentioned I had taken advanced stats in grad school, he was unable to offer advice based on research. When I lost my home-brewed pregnancy, he mentioned off-handedly that he had expected a bad result due to some observations he had never shared with me earlier. When I had a surgical proceedure, he did not get my signed consent until after I had been partially sedated. He has bad juju. I would not allow him to touch me, my samples, or even my files after that. I cancelled a procedure once because I found out too late that he was in the building. (Yes, that bad.) Dr. Klein was much more informative. But no doctor in this practice is what I would call "supportive" or even "human". Studies have found that a supportive staff, support groups, a place to contemplate one's situation and grieve, and accupuncture can increase success rates by over 15%. SRM just started offering accupuncture. When I mentioned the study, I got raised eyebrows - why would they spend money on things that are not billable? And we also had a shark moment - my coverage ran out and we missed paying for a procedure. Let me assure you they were paid for that procedure in advance of even making the next appointment. Overall, you must check the success rates of the other clinics in the area. Pacific NW Fertility has a significantly higher success rate, and the country's best clinic is within driving distance in Oregon. Don't waste your time, money, or eggs with SRM. This is a baby factory. We went through one round of IVF here. We saw our doctor only for office visits: every other appointment was with another doctor who we had to explain our whole situation over and over again. My wife was likely overstimulated for the harvest and it produced unviable eggs. When we went in for the insertion, they had another patient's record up on the screen: same name, different state. It was kind of scary...not sure whose eggs they put in my wife. We promptly switched to Pacific Northwest. Dr. Marshall is AWESOME: one round and we had success. SRM, never again. read more

The challenge with SRM, as you will see with other reviews, is that it is an assembly line approach to fertility. Once you are in the system, they seem to have a standard approach to how you progress through the system without much attention to your personal needs. My biggest issues were: 1) I had a great doctor, but after the first visit or two you never get to see your doctor and every doctor you do see says something slightly different. In a very subjective type of medicine, that's very challenging to know how to progress. 2) They are way too busy and it's tough to get an appointment on the correct date. You have to do certain appointments on prescribed days of your cycle and I've now visited all the offices and met with multiple doctors trying to find an appointment that works with my schedule. They somehow assume you can clear your schedule for the only 30 minutes they have free. Even getting to a receptionist to book an appointment is hard and they aren't very nice. 3) No one seems to know you, or really care. In four months I've had three different nurses- who are your only contact with medical care. Unless you call them early in the morning, you usually get voice mail and it's tough to get a call back. 4) Their billing is somehow always wrong. Wrong amount due, wrong amount paid, confusing. For the amount that I've been paying them, I expect better. If nothing else, I'd prefer not to be treated like a cow in an assembly line. Moo. read more

I'm so fed up with SRM that I will never choose to go back. It all started off positively enough. The front desk people are very friendly and helpful. I had another doctor order an HSG, so I went to SRM and actually had a good experience with Dr. Klein. Eventually, I decided to see Dr. Thyer for a consult, and it all went downhill from there. I came in with a bunch of test results and wanted her opinion on what I needed. She was very aloof and pretty much said there wasn't much that could be done with someone with my issues. After the consult, we met with her nurse for the "new patient" info. Then, as all appointments end, they send you to finance, without even checking if you need to stop there. Because $$ is really all that matters, of course. Since I was pretty put off by Dr. Thyer, I decided to stick with my existing doctor. After a few months I got a call from the nurse checking to see if I wanted to "move forward" with the (lack of) treatment that the Dr. ordered. I did not. I did eventually go in for the blood tests she ordered, just so I could have the info to pass on to my other doctor. And it got worse. They ran a test that wasn't supposed to be done at that point in my cycle (without checking where I was). I found out by getting a call the next day saying I was wrong in getting it done then (no, they were wrong for ordering it without asking). When it was time for results to be ready, I assumed someone would call me to go over them. Nope. I finally called and got the results read to me, and there were some flags that the nurse said she would run by the doctor. Did anyone ever call me back to explain those flags? Nope, the Dr. doesn't care because I wasn't going to be paying them big $$ for treatment. Just today, I get my third bill for this round of tests (5 months later). Each one was completely different, and of course the first one charged me for that incorrect test. Also, a few weeks ago I got another random call from the nurse asking again if I wanted to go ahead with the (lack of) treatment. She's lucky I wasn't in the mood to talk to her. And I'm lucky that I got pregnant without their help. The moral of this long story, believe the reviews! Stay away! Find a smaller office with better reviews. read more

Definitely agree with the sentiment that you are a $ here, not a human being. You are definitely just one more faceless patient. We went in after trying for about six months, and did the battery of tests. I ended up having to drive to Tacoma for my HSG because they're so backlogged in Seattle. They didn't tell me to take painkillers, didn't give me any medication for the procedure, which was incredibly painful. After all our results came in, we didn't even get a face to face consult--we were just told "Everything's fine"--in retrospect, I wonder if this is because we said we weren't interested in extraordinary measures. Overlake Reproductive Health is a completely different story--the staff remembers your name, and is on the lookout for your well being (not just physical, but mental too). They were up front with me that my age was an issue--unlike SRM. I wish I'd gone to ORH first. read more

As someone who works in healthcare, I was disappointed with my care. I very much liked my doctor, but I saw her exactly twice. I appreciate the fact that she did call me personally when our cycles were not successful. I also liked the fact that I was in email communication with my nurse. Otherwise, I felt like a faceless, nameless entity. Whenever I went in for various ultra sounds, tests, etc. I was always seen by someone different. One time I was seen by a man who was very gruff and condescending. This is a place where women who feel very vulnerable seek care, we have a right to be forewarned if we will be having a male practitioner see us. We also have a right to know who we will be seeing when we schedule an appointment. I was placed on different protocols and was never told why. I had to research on my own what they were. After my first retrieval, I had a lot of soreness in my lower abdomen. I was very concerned. I was told it was normal. I find out weeks later that they had to put pressure was placed to help get the eggs. I don't mind that they did that, but I should have been told immediately post-op so that I would be prepared for the soreness and not have worried as much. By far the most appalling thing was our meeting with a social worker after our IVF cycles did not work. We were charged $200 for this visit. This social worker told us that egg donation is far better than adoption because egg donor babies always know how much they are wanted whereas adopted children always feel a sense of abandonment. Of course she said that, she wanted our money. How incredibly shameful to say this to a couple in a very vulnerable state. I would also say that I hated the fact that whenever I called regarding issues with a bill, I often had to deal with IntegraMed's national office. They NEVER returned my calls. The Seattle office was better in that aspect. I will never again go to a place that is part of a large network like that. This place has helped many people. If you choose to use this place, know that you will have to be your own advocate. read more

So far so good. I have been working with SRM for two months and have had nothing but positive experiences. Sadly, medical providers are the type of business where most happy clients don't think to post or don't want to put their business out for the world to see, while unhappy clients are more than willing to leave scathing reviews. For that reason I felt compelled to throw in my ten cents. First, we have not yet conceived, but will keep trying. Second - staffing and appointments - I have had a different doctor and/or nurse each time, and all of them have been great. The flip side is that I have always been able to get the day and time I need for my appointments, making this process as compatible with my work schedule as possible - unlike my primary care and other doctors, who require two weeks to two months for an appointment, and even then I am lucky to get a good time slot. Third - patient care - cannot recall the last time I have met such a friendly and caring group of health care providers. To start, I was assigned a case manager type person who had helped walk me through the process, and continues to follow through and explain everything as needed. She has been more than responsive. My primary doctor put us at ease and explained everything, while the two doctors who conducted my two ultrasounds were similarly friendly, patient, and great at answering any questions. It makes the appointments all but stress free. Same for the nurses. In short, zero complaints when it comes to communication and attitude, and never once have I felt like just a number or as though my own issues didn't matter. Fourth - cost - fortunately my insurance has covered most of the process. That being said, there are a lot of charges and they seem to trickle in. Then again, this is a long and potentially expensive process, which I knew getting into it. All that being said, and even with insurance, it had cost a fraction of what I expected. So there's my ten cents - or maybe it was more like 25. Hopefully I can update this review in the next few months with good news, but even if it doesn't work out, as of now I have nothing but positive things to say about the experience I have had. read more

Technology is strangely comforting. So is brand-new office space. SRM is one of the leading local infertility clinics. Unlike many practices, where you always see the same doctor, SRM is run a bit more like a factory. A really clean, high-tech scientific factory. Everything is so new it has that new device smell. A factory might sound like a bad thing, but at some point what you really want is a bunch of experts - and for me, this was that point. No more thinking, deciding, everything works like magic (even your prescriptions just show up on your doorstep). Based on my experience thus far, I'd recommend it. read more

This place is a joke as a professional medical agency. I have donated my eggs twice with this agency- both times the same issues. Lack of communication-- not only between office locations, but between staff within the offices and most importantly direct communication with me. I often times needed to call the office after hours, where I got transferred from person to person, for clarification on my appointment times or even worse the medication doses I should be taking after I failed to hear from my nurse or coordinator. There is also not a clear explanation by a medical professional on how to inject medications, but rather a "training video" I was told to watch. There is a 20 minute in office "training session" which during I was told "you all look pretty smart and can figure it out." (Insert "watch training video for questions" here). During my second donation cycle I was told an additional medication was added to my dosage, but was not given a clear explanation about what this medication was until I asked three different nurses. The "follow up" I was ensured to receive after the extraction was 24 hours later with an email one liner asking how I felt. When I informed them that I wasn't so hot this second time around, I was told if I don't feel better contact them again. Very sound diagnostic medical advice, I know. You also don't get your donation check until you come back in weeks later for a follow up ultrasound for your safety. I get it (if I actually believed my safety was a concern) but BOTH times I came in for my follow up they DID NOT have my check and the person who deals with the checks has always been (conveniently) out of the office and unable to be reached by phone. I was then told the issue was that Fed Ex didn't deliver the checks on time. Scapegoat much? I have had this follow up appointment scheduled for a month so this was unacceptable to me......... It was not until I spoke to two nurses, the front desk receptionists, the clinical director, and refused to leave that I was cut a check on the spot. So two stars- one- for giving me the opportunity to donate, which I will be forever grateful for, but have a sour taste in my mouth about as they tainted the idea that this process is a sacred medical process. And two- when they are ineffectively communicating and not doing their jobs they are polite about it. I will donate again as the experience of helping others have children is quite amazing, but I will NOT be back to SRM. With having my own job, plus on top of donating, I just don't have time to continuously do SRMs job for them. Deuces SRM!! read more

We've been working with SRM for about 3 years. I have one main doc but have met 3 or 4 of their providers. Everyone has been super friendly. Scheduling has been fairly easy and flexible - including weekends. We have a dedicated nurse who returns phone calls by the end of the business day. Update 2012: We have parted ways with SRM after having a better experience at another clinic. Overall looking back, we were pressured a lot into IVF without a full understanding of why that was our best option. We asked questions, but they seemed more interested in moving forward than answer all of our questions. While I had a dedicated nurse, she was only available by phone, email would have been a nice option to have. Also, she took a day to return calls to seemingly simple questions. Lastly, their billing staff were not helpful. While friendly, they did not seem to always know how schedule things. I understand that there is a learning curve with new staff, but they turnover seemed high. read more

SRM is one of the top two reproductive/infertility clinics in Washington. They are large and professional. They have strong success rates. My only complaint is that I have felt like a cog in the machine here; they do not always follow up on concerns, and I have had to be my own advocate to get attention. But on the plus side, there are excellent doctors here, and I'm confident that they know what they are doing. read more

Went through 2 unsuccessful IVFs with SRM, one is a minimal stimulation IVF. Going into the process, we have always accepted the possibility of failure, but not negligence. After getting a clean break from SRM and engaging PNW to rerun the test, I learned that the initial fertility test I did at SRM has produced false results (ok FSH, high E2), SRM told me that my fallopian tubes were blocked but the updated test a year later showed completely open tubes. In retrospect, more thorough testing should have been done by SRM before advising patient to do IVF procedures. A women with high FSH is not as responsive to IVF medications so it makes no sense to put me on a min. stimulation plan. I am not a guinea pig. My advice to people engaging SRM is to do your own research, take the time to process the info that was given to you, and get a second opinion before jumping into IVF. If you do get on a IVF with them, check everything! The nurses/doctor I worked with are always in a rush and error prone. The bottom line is SRM is a business, I don't believe they intentionally try to hurt patients, but they definitely prioritize pushing through more procedures over patient satisfaction. read more

We tried all 3 major fertility clinics in Seattle area, and decided to stick with SRM for our unexplained infertility issue. The only positive thing I can say about them is that they are very responsive and organized. I never had to wait in line more than 5 minutes, and all my emails were answered even in the middle of the night. Their doctors are very friendly and VERY INCOMPETENT. They treat every case the same, like a conveyor - no individual approach at all. The result of course works for some and doesn't for the rest. Their lab - They have horrible lab! Once they messed something up and told us that we have Hepatitis. The other time they had "human error" and again we got wrong results. Regarding money - they do all in their power to get more money out of your pain. They made us pay $5000 for two completely unnecessary procedures during the IVF cycle. Not only that, but without that unnecessary procedure our chances where much higher. Of course we can't prove anything, so they will easily get away with it. To sum-up, this is not a good place to do such a delicate treatments. read more

Now that I'm several months into my treatment at SRM, I can say that I would NOT recommend them. The last straw for me was that I found out that I should have had an HSG dye test of my tubes BEFORE proceeding to IUI. I had two unsuccessful IUIs at SRM (despite having 2-4 eggs each time). I noticed that the mature eggs were all on the left side both months. I raised the question of a blocked tube and was told that we could do the dye test now if I wanted to do another IUI, though it wasn't necessary if I was going IVF next. Today I had the dye test at PNW Fertility -- guess what? Partially dilated tube on the left side! It's not conclusive, but it's very possible this is why the IUIs were unsuccessful. I feel like I wasted $2000 and -- more importantly -- TWO MONTHS at SRM. Also, the new clinic advises the dye test even for IVF because you could have some fluid in the tube that could be toxic to an implanted embryo. Other issues: SRM offers seminars to acquaint you with IVF. Even though my plan for treatment was to go to IVF after two IUIs, no one mentioned this seminar! I learned this from a fellow yelper. What is the point of having resources if you don't tell patients about them? I also asked for acupuncture info... turns out they have acupuncturists on staff but never mentioned it. I felt like I was managing my own care at SRM. SRM has just merged with another small clinic so it's even bigger and I felt like a head of cattle being shoved through the fertility machine. I'm really disappointed in my treatment there. Do your research. I found that PNW Fertility has some of the highest success rates in the country for women over 38. read more

I, unfortunately, have had a nightmare with the Seattle location and the billing office. The clinicians, especially Dr. Davis are wonderful and many of the nurse practitioner staff. However, I was incorrectly billed for a procedure I never had, and despite refuting this bill over multiple months the billing/financial staff continued to say I had a procedure I knew I never had (abdominal ultrasound is something you'd remember). I am beyond disappointed and frustrated with their handling of this situation. It would be quite clear to see from the images taken that day that I did NOT have this type of ultrasound. I hope that this review can warn others that their billing office is very unprofessional and I would recommend Pacific Northwest Fertility over them anyday. read more

I originally thought that it was great that there was an available location in Seattle as I'm in Capital Hill. Doing IVF is stressful enough so having a place close by to limit traveling is great. I wish I never heard of SRM and never decided to use them. In quick summary (no particular order) - -be aware if youre overwieght or an ex smoker your efforts in losing weight/quitting won't matter as the anestheologists don't know what they're doing and will refuse even after you meet the requirements all the way up to the day of the retrieval - i was told a lady had to be sent to the hospital just days before my retrieval by the head nurse manager and by the way the anesthesologists make "group" decisions based on what they "think" which is funny since my chart had a note that I had quit smoking but somehow - they didn't know...and the consulting dr who called me twice kept backtracking on why i was refused. We had to get up at 4:30am to cab it all the way to Kirkland from Capitol Hill and back. - its your responsibility to make sure that each individual knows what they need to know about your personal history - cause they don't all actually read the chart thoroughly and if you want to know what anything means you have to ask and feel like you're taking up their precious time. Prepare to mostly talk with a nurse. - If you need refills on your meds - call the pharmacy yourself - -be happy to wait sometimes up to 20 minutes to get in for your appointment even when you show up 15 minutes early - it might sometimes be hours after you leave a message for your nurse to get a call back. - be prepared for backtracking drs and keep notes about each appointment so you can remember who told you what (cause it might change later) - -The left hand does not always know what the right hand is doing - - you might get to see a real doctor twice if you're lucky - Be prepared to be shuffled between 8-15 different techs and a nurse. -No I didnt get pregnant. I did cancel the last "consultation" visit, but it would have been nice to be offered some kind of resource or even a call to check in on my emotional state. To be honest, even if I did get pregnant, I would never use SRM again. besides - why should you get personalized and comprehensive service when paying thousands of dollars or using up all your insurance for such a deeply emotional procedure? Believe me - go somewhere - anywhere else. read more

I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews for SRM. I think the IVF business creates happy patients (those who get pregnant) and very upset patients (those who aren't successful at getting pregnant). Also, some people don't want to hear the truth about their chances of getting pregnant, and will just keep "shopping" until they find a doctor who will tell them what they want to hear. Our experience with Dr. Letterie and his staff at SRM was great, with one exception (which is why I've given them 4 stars instead of 5). Dr Letterie was professional, knowledgeable, compassionate...everything you can hope for in a doctor! We were ultimately successful in getting pregnant too! Our only "complaint" with SRM was communication. Prior to one of our transfers, we didn't hear from the clinic as expected so I had to call them. Not a big deal but a surprise when every other part of our treatment was pretty organized. IVF is a process and requires patience. I also think it's helpful if the patient goes in with the expectation that they're going to need to learn, listen, follow the doctor's advice, and have realistic expectations. I would recommend SRM and especially Dr Letterie without hesitation. read more

I don't know why this place has such low reviews! I was and am absolutely thrilled with my care at SRM. I completed IVF with frozen embryo transfers (because I have PCOS) to have my son and am currently pregnant with my second, thanks to SRM. But even if I didn't get pregnant I would still rate the quality of care I received here as excellent. It far exceeded my expectations and during such a difficult time (infertility) the nurses, doctors and tech staff are exceedingly kind and gentle with their patients (which I needed because I felt like I would burst into tears at any moment). I would highly recommend SRM. I've seen several of the doctors there because they have a shared care approach and have been happy with each one. I admit I scrupulously read all the Yelp reviews before choosing SRM and was concerned. But am happy to say that my experience has been nothing but positive. read more

With the help of SRM, I conceived my daughter in 2010. She has grown to be a healthy, spirited, and smart girl. Now, I want to take her to China to visit and as I apply for visa, the Chinese consulate wants to be sure that she has no father. The consulate wants to see evidence that the child was born through artificial insemination. I called SRM at 4:15pm today, and got a call back from Beth (the nurse) at 4:30pm. Beth was extremely helpful, and to my amazement, she knew who I am, what my address was, and when my daughter was born. Beth had everything I needed for applying for my daughter's visa. It is amazing how organized and helpful the clinic remains to be almost a decade later. read more
