I have used Pinpoint twice in the last year. We had problems with sewer smells and not knowing where it was coming from. Shawn came out this last time and was absolutely great. He did a smoke test in our entire drain system. They checked inside the house, the attic, and the crawlspace. A few spots were found with smoke coming out in the crawlspace and another had smoke coming into the kitchen. For the kitchen, they opened up some stucco on the outside wall to find a vent pipe that was completely snapped! They clearly marked everything that needs fixing so our plumber can easily locate the problems that they found. I strongly advise avoiding this company, as my experience matches many of the other negative reviews here. They are unprofessional and do not stand behind their work. Before contacting them, I read some concerning reviews but assumed those might have been isolated incidents or misunderstandings. Unfortunately, I experienced similar issues myself. I was advised by my pool technician that I might have a small leak and should hire a leak detection company. This company quoted me $425 just to send someone out, which seemed steep, but I went ahead. When the technician Mike arrived, he was here for about 30 minutes, & he provided a vague one line description to the company of where the leak was supposedly located, and took a single photo of some damp dirt above the pool area where they used pressurized nitrogen to detect a leak. That was it. Afterwards, I repeatedly followed up for more information but could not get any clear answers. I kept having to deal with their office manager Katrina who was consistently rude and dismissive. She constantly interrupted me, refused to listen to my concerns, and kept insisting their vague report was sufficient. To make matters worse, Katrina lied to one of their technicians and told him that I was disrespectful to her and used foul language when that never happened at all. I was simply trying to explain my frustration as a paying customer but she twisted my words instead of addressing the actual issue. I tried explaining that I had every right to express my frustration about the poor service I received but she had no interest in resolving the situation and repeatedly talked over me. When I told her that if the company continued to ignore my concerns I would be leaving honest feedback online, she did not care at all and just kept trying to end the call. In short, this company charged an excessive amount for minimal work, provided almost no usable information, and was disrespectful and dishonest when I asked for clarification. They were completely unprofessional throughout the entire process. I would never use this company again or recommend them to anyone else. Save yourself the stress. read more

Referred by my plumber - Gallegos - These fine folks were so very helpful, professional, etc. I called them at about 9 this morning, and Katrina promised a tech same day at 2 - 4 PM. My phone rang at 1:54 letting me know the tech was on his way, and was nearby. Hugo drove up at about 2:02. We only needed a sewer line and a water line (copper) located and flagged, it was done very quickly, I felt the price they guestimated over the phone was fair, however once the job was actually completed, a price break was given (we had about half of it already trenched). Today we had Pinpoint come out to find a leak in our home. Not only were they efficient, responsive in getting a quick date, they were able to detect where leak was coming from as that is what they do! It's a family owned business so I am happy to support. The charge was $395 flat rate but be careful and ask questions as our home is a one story home and they might have to charge more for 2 stories depending on where the pipes lead. So just ask questions and no question is a stupid question. The detection was simple with their tools, blue tape markings as to how the water flows and locating manifolds. But overall it was professional, organized, clean and would hire them again for any detection leaks! read more

These guys are crooks! Try to avoid if possible. They charged me $500 for a simple smoke test that showed I had to seal around the base of my toilet better. That's their minimum for up to 1.5 hours. Took them waaay less than an hour. Their invoice also said they charge $295/hr for anything past the initial 1.5 hours. These labor charges are ridiculous for the type of service they provide. Christian was very thorough. He spent an hour locating the supply lines and then taping off where he said the water leak was located. Unfortunately he said it was beneath a custom built kitchen cabinet with a granite countertop. That meant either removing the huge cabinet or going in and cutting down and through the interior cabinetry. Luckily I got a second opinion from Sherlock Leak Detectives. I removed all the tape that Christian had put down so Ron at Sherlock had no clue where the leak was. Within 30 minutes Ron found the supply lines then located within 4 inches of where the leak was which thank God was not under my kitchen cabinet. $350 wasted using AAA Pinpoint Leak Detection which could of cost me thousands in flooring and kitchen cabinetry as well as days of inconvenience for construction. read more

My experience with PinPoint leak detection was really terrible. They do not care about their customers. All they care about is how they can squeeze more dollars out of people. I highly highly recommend you to stay away from them. I worked with jordon at their company. He was very rude and unprofessional. They charged me $3200 to find a leak and fix a problem, but the problem was never resolved. They made a few trips to my house to detect a leak and even fixed or perhaps pretended to fix one of the pipes, but the problem was still there. I ended up working with someone else. If you think you have a pool leak, don't bother with this company. They only do half an inspection. I hired them to do an inspection right before covid hit. I was surprised that the inspection was so quick; it only took about an hour, maybe less. The tech assured me my pool was fine and wasn't leaking. While I was pleased to hear that, I was still baffled by how much water I was having to feed the pool to keep it even close to full. Throughout the covid quarantine time, my pool continued to be thirsty. I was putting 20+ min of water in daily, and still struggling to keep it filled. My pool guy and my contractor both insisted that there was something wrong and that I should contact the inspector who had told me it was fine. I followed up with Pinpoint but nobody wanted to be bothered with my call, telling me that their inspection results were only valid a short period post-inspection. So I hired Red Rhino to perform a new inspection. I was surprised when the guy said the inspection would take 3-4 hours. I was even more surprised when he suited up and got into the pool, something the tech from Pinpoint definitely did not do. Sure enough, they discovered a leak around the seal of my jacuzzi light. The tech installed a temporary putty (a real fix is needed long term) and my pool immediately stopped bleeding water. What's the point of doing 50% of a pool inspection? My leak never would have been discovered by Pinpoint, but they were more than happy to take my money. This company CHEATED ME! My water bill had been inordinately high for a couple of months and I was concerned I had a leak so I called a plumber my friend recommended. The plumber told me to contact Pinpoint Leak Detection if I thought I had a leak. I scheduled an appointment for them to come out. The individual showed up on time. I told him about the high water bill and that I had no idea what the source could be, can he check all possibilities for me? He was busy for under 30 minutes inside and outside the house. At the end of this time he announced he hadn't found any issues. I questioned him if he had checked both bathrooms, the laundry room, etc. He assured me there was no leak to be found. I wrote him a check for $350 bucks and sent him on his way. Three weeks later I moved out of this home and lo and behold, when the washing machine was pulled out of the laundry room, guess what was a found? A LEAK! And not a recent one... the plumber was called and fixed the leak. I believe I paid him almost $200. We've noticed unexplained increases in our water bill and also occasional backups in our kitchen sinks and bathtubs. A neighbor just had their main water line re-routed (something we've been considering) and highly recommended Pinpoint to us. Our technician JASON was timely, polite, and knowledgeable. He called 20 minutes before our appointment to let us know he was on the way. Upon arrival, he used a fancy beeping contraption called a locator to detect where the pipes ran throughout the house. He then marked in blue tape where notable points and blockages were beneath our tile and wood floors. His laptop also showed us the camera's view as it snaked through the drain until it hit an obstruction. We had initially signed up for both a leak detection and sewer drain inspection. After a thorough review, Jason advised that we did not need leak detection service. With just the sewer inspection, our final fee was almost half of the initial quote. Our ultimate issues were major grease buildup in the kitchen and then extreme rusting in the vents. Note that this company does not do repairs. They specialize in finding the issues so that a licensed plumber can then do the fix. Our fee was $250. Potential follow-up visit will be $150 after a plumber fixes the issues that Pinpoint found. So the the floor in the casa started heating up in one area. So I'm thinking either there's a leak in the slab or doorway to hell in my kitchen (I have to stop watching so much Netflix). Now I can't tell you exactly how much this process saved me but I started with quotes in the 6 grand range for a re pipe. So I listened to my plumber and did what the professionals do. Get the information you need then make informed decision. All totaled saved about 4500-5000 over the re pipe and that's with paying for the labor for my plumber and parts.
