I found out on this visit that I am terrible at duck pin bowling (which obviously did not effect my view of this place) and still had so much fun! Even after growing up in central Ohio, where pins started, I had never been to one before. This one in Cincinnati looks small on the outside, but has three floors and a basement once you get inside. The bowling is on the first and second floors, and there are many arcade games on the third floor and basement. My group all ordered drinks from the bar. I had a cocktail and found it very well made. It is not often you find a place like this with good entertainment and good service. We bowled two games but the second got cut short due to an event that closed the 2nd and 3rd floors. To compensate us, the team gave us all a coupon for a free game, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, I am happy I finally got to try duck pin bowling and would love to come back (to practice of course). Went here this weekend with friends. My first time and it was awesome. We sat on the rooftop to enjoy the nice weather as the sun set and it was beautiful. The rooftop was so nice, a lot of room for people. We had about 10 of us so it was perfect. We later went down to play arcade games and that was really fun, I liked the old school games of frogger and Donkey Kong. It was great that they were free too. I had a few different drinks, all of them were reasonably priced and very good. The service was amazing, all of the servers/bartenders were very attentive and very friendly. Came here on a weekend trip to Cincinnati and loved it! There's a main level with a bar and bowling (it's mechanical bowling with mini balls which is super fun and only $8 per person on Saturdays!). The basement level has free arcade games that are a bit dated but still worth trying, and on the second floor there's some more bowling making it easy to get a lane even when it's busy. The third floor offers another bar and some ping pong and connect 4 games, but the best part is the rooftop that offers yet another bar and some fire pits with a view of the neighboring area. Fun! We stopped in on Sunday after having a birthday dinner nearby for my husband. Since it was Sunday it was nearly empty. There's multiple levels - the roof (which I didn't see), the upper level where there's a bar and video games/pinball, the main level that has a bar and duckpin bowling, and the basement that has video games also. Drinks are a tad more expensive than other bars in the area. I love that you can play Jenga, Ping Pong and arcade games for free. We really wanted to duck pin bowl which was like $6 per person but there was over a two hour wait. A great group outing!! A group of four of us went here and it was a blast! It was pretty crowded (but it was a Saturday night at 8pm) so there was a 1hr 45min wait for a lane, but the time went by fast since there's plenty to do (pin ball, ping pong, watch other people play, etc.). As for drinks, they had a pretty solid bar lineup -- the key attraction of this place is definitely the games, so the drink assortment was pretty standard and got the job done! That's fine, their rooftop is relaxing. Fire pits and TVs to watch games. Their drink selection is insane! Why didn't we visit this spot sooner?? That was a big question my lady and I were asking ourselves when we came here and saw everything they had to offer. We felt like kids at a classic arcade all over again. Pins is just all-around fun for all ages. The place is much bigger than you'd expect. Five floors worth of fun and excitement. The first two floors are mainly duck pin bowling (just think mini-bowling) with a full bar on the first floor. The third floor is loaded with pinball tables and arcade classics as well as another full bar. The fourth floor is a rooftop patio with fire pits in cold weather and another full bar. Even the basement has loads of classic video game and pinball goodies. Their bars offer a wide array on mixed drinks, mock-tails, and a huge selection of brews on tap. My lady and I had a few drinks, rocked those pinball tables, and just loved it all. We even spent a little time on the rooftop near one of the fire pits with a drink. She really enjoyed the La Bolita and the smokey old fashioned. You know a place is good when you're already talking about coming back before you've even left. Gotta try the duck pin bowling next time for sure! I hope they have my favorite pinball table of all time one day, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, but still, their pinball selection is one of the absolute best I've ever experienced. I love this place. We decided to go here after dinner for drinks and to play games. Only had to wait about 10 mins for the bowling. Everyone is super nice and attentive. They take your drink orders quickly at the bar and have a great selection of delicious drinks. They also have people walking around taking order while you play and people cleaning up empty drinks as well. The rooftop has beautiful views, fire pits and nice seating. 3rd level has some tables and games. Level 1-2 have the pins bowling and level 1 has a full bar. From a marketing standpoint, this whole bar was really detailed and designed phenomenally. There are such little details and fun signs and artwork that I truly wish other businesses could pull off and really go the whole extra mile. I could not stop fanning over how beautiful this bar is from top to bottom literally. The basement bathrooms have so many stalls (a woman's paradise), subway tiles, fun pun phrases on the stall floors, and are spotless. I used to live in Cincinnati and it's my favorite bar even now residing in Chicago... I will definitely be back! They have a rooftop with bocce ball, a small arcade, ping pong, small version of bowling, and tons of tables and soft seating. I love how many levels there are it's just so fun to be able to feel like you're getting more scenery without having to leave the bar. And the lofted ceilings never makes you feel too crowded. The bartenders are all so friendly and attentive, the main floor bar has so many beers on tap and have such an efficient way to label them by number and makes it way easier to order versus saying a whole beer name. My friends and I are rooftop bar hopping when one of my friends and I remembered walking past a sign at Pins Mechanical Company advertising the rooftop bar. The night was young so we figured why not?! We weren't interested in bowling, so we bypassed the lanes in order to head straight to the bar. A passerby pointed to the stairs for us to head to the rooftop so along we trekked. I thought one of my friends was going to pass out before we made it to the top, but alas, we reached our destination! We were lucky enough to snag a seat along a bench, and as soon as we sat down we noticed the elevator haha! We saw a bunch of people walking around with a bowling ball shaped drink and asked around to see what it was. It's called the baller and it's made with 6 different liquors, punch, and Sprite. It was delicious and I highly recommend it! It started to rain so our rooftop time was cut short, but we will definitely be back! It's also worth to point out that the bowling isn't traditional bowling, they have shorter lanes and smaller pins/balls (the balls fit in the palm of your hand). Well, this is the new 2018 OTR hot spot. 3+ floors of sheer FUN. Over the Rhine is the go-to place whenever you are in Cincinnati and showing anyone around - and you can add Pins to your short list! Floor 1: Bar, bowling, tables Floor 2: Bowling Floor 3: Pinball, second bar Rooftop: (not open yet) There are SO MANY beers on tap (I am gluten challenged so I stuck to the signature drink menu)... overall I love the dual level layout of the 1st/2nd floor and the spacious 3rd floor. I didn't get a chance to bowl yet (it's a special type of bowling with the pins connected to strings and the bowling balls don't have finger holes). I used to think that Rook (on Vine) was cool for being a board game bar and 16 Bit was cool for having arcade games. Pins is on a whole new level. Check it out ASAP - you'll thank me. read more
