We were very rushed the entire time and it did not feel like she wanted to be there. I asked for help and did not really receive the advice I needed. It was very disappointing all around and I came last minute as a distraction from some real life issues going on. I would have left the canvas behind but I know they will just reuse it for a sample canvas and I didn't feel like benefiting them that way. The person working the day of the party was so kind and helpful - making sure we all found the perfect piece to paint and checked on us to refill our paints. It took me awhile to decide but I picked a rainbow for my desk at work. My item was $35 and it's a pretty good size. Their items to paint are anywhere from $12-$50. They even have canvases you can paint. It took me about 3 hours to paint my rainbow - I wish I was a faster painter because I would like to have done another coat of paint. They took our items for the kiln when we were done and we were able to pick them up the following Wednesday (we were there on a Saturday). Overall, it was a fun experience I would definitely return!

We had not met her at this point, only the very pleasant and sweet owner when we booked the room, and when we got there she rattled off her name quick and she led us back to the party room. We both thought she said something Miriam, but apparently she was saying Marem(sp?), and when my boyfriend called her Miriam not long later, again, not pleasant. Mean mugged, for lack of better words, the rest of the time we were there. If that was my only employee encounter I wouldn't go back. However, I met the owner and again, we really liked her. I will make sure Marem isn't there when whenever we go back just for us.

The bartenders were friendly and when there is an open bar, that always adds a sense of happiness. The view was nice overlooking western Brunswick, Ohio. Although there was a trailer, a tractor, and other homestead items at the bottom of the hill in the back, which was clearly visible. If you're looking for a place to get hitched and have a reception immediately following your wedding ceremony, this could be a decent option. There was a fair amount of parking available and a paved lot. I wouldn't call the venue glamorous, but it is definitely functional.

The staircase is beautiful and every inch of the place is covered in wallpaper, even the ceiling in some rooms. Although quaint, it really bothered me that there wasn't more literature available on-site that explained what all the historic items on display were about. Was the harmonica a former possession of Old Man Nicholson? Seriously, there was a harmonica on display with a little white label next to it reading "harmonica." No duh it is a harmonica, but what is so important about it? It also really bothered me that there was a doll on display with her hair parted for pigtails and only one pigtail was secured with a ribbon. The other pigtail was just lose; she looked like a homeless lady off her meds. I spent a long time staring at that doll thinking of all the reasons the person who arranged the display left her like that: 1)It was arranged by a man. 2)Someone found the doll with only one original hair ribbon and realized it was missing a ribbon but did not buy matching ribbon from Jo-Ann's because she wrongly wanted to keep the doll "authentic." 3)The person had absolutely no clue what she was doing and she has no eye for design what so ever. Perhaps she is an accountant or banker. Either way, this person never spent a lazy summer afternoon braiding her sister's hair poolside, that's for damn sure.

The tip ONLY bothered me because at the end we were the only ones in there and we had about 7 paint bottles on the table, the ladies were standing around talking (totally fine like I said no one else was in there) but the last table that left had all their paint on their table still. So when I asked do we just leave? She said can you put your paints away. It's totally fine except for the fact that like, it took us a long time to find the proper spots, they weren't doing anything and she knew we were in a time crunch, I just feel like if im going to tip $11 maybe they should have put our paints away for us? Not being lazy it just seems it would have been much faster and helpful for them to do it since we were the only ones in there. Anyway. I don't want to come off rude, everyone was very nice, I just don't understand tip culture these days where we are tipping for something that we do all the work for lol (I was a bartender for 18 years so I always tip)

If you have been in before they are good about taking a more hands off approach. The selection of pottery to paint has decreased in variety I believe due to the other activities. Check their website for different classes offered. The price may seem high but considering all that is included, I really don't find it unreasonable.

However, at $600 the Orchid Room is very expensive and is very limited in how you are permitted to decorate. We unfortunately had to cancel our event and requested a few butterfly house passes to use another day since we were out the $600. They said it was not possible. So be very aware of the 90 day cancellation policy and the very limited decoration policy.

I felt safe and it was nice to see the community participating. The second event was a fall festival where there was a petting zoo, some vendors, food, candle making, etc. We had a lot of fun and it was really neat to be able to go inside the buildings.
