Pint Size Playhouse is a truly special place where kids get to be themselves, learn a lot, and have FUN. Our daughter thrived at this school. Ms Nicole creates a safe, playful, and dynamic environment with holiday celebrations, special projects, and weekly art, yoga, and music classes. Our daughter was always learning new things and we were constantly amazed by her growth and the things she would come home and tell us. We are so so grateful for Ms Nicole's dedication to her work and the genuine love and care she gives each of the children (and the families!) at her school. The entire PSP community feels like a big family and we were so lucky to be a part of it. have been meaning to make an appreciation post for Pint-size playhouse since our first month here. Time flies so fast and now it is time for us to move on. We are going to miss it so much! Ms. Nicole cultivates a safe, inclusive, intimate space for fun learning and growing. So much thought and consideration goes into weekly and monthly lessons and activities. Not only do they have special classes like music and yoga, but they have had special guests like a bee farmer, face painting artists, and bilingual teachers! They have grown and ate their own vegetables and even grown and released butterflies through their full transformation cycle. They have very thoughtful celebrations in regard to each child's Birthday, and for lots of fun holiday parties. Most importantly, there is lots of communication. Whether it be fun, happy updates and pictures, or any issues and concerns. I have always been kept well informed of how my child was going and I really appreciated having these updates when some of my days were too busy to check in. Ms. Nicole is so invested in knowing and loving every student. Having my child happily run into her school every single morning has given us such peace of mind that he was happy and safe. My youngest daughter had the pleasure of going to Pint-Size Playhouse and I have nothing but amazing things to say about our time there. Miss Nicole is so kind, welcoming, nurturing, and organized. I was always amazed that I could pop in at any time and the place was spotless. My daughter made great friends and was always excited to go to "school" every day. She offers extras including yoga and music for the kids which is such a nice addition to their days. It was bitter sweet when we had to leave for Pre-K. She even threw a little goodbye party and made us a photo book with all of the amazing memories she made there. Most importantly, I always felt safe and confident leaving my child in her care. I will forever be grateful to Nicole for the care and attention she showered on our two children while at Pint-Size Playhouse. We wanted a close-knit environment for our children, where there wouldn't be constant turnover and where play was emphasized and social/emotional, and developmental skills were age appropriate. To say Nicole delivered on this is an understatement! My children were excited to go to school every day, made treasured friends, and we felt like we were part of an extended family. Nicole was in constant communication with us, and made sure we were on the same parenting page, while addressing needs as they arose. I never had to worry if my children were unhappy or struggling, as the environment she provides is one which meets children where they are and gently encourages their growth. Having moved out of state to a new daycare, I am acutely aware of how special their experience at Pint-Size Playhouse was and how lucky we were to have found Nicole. Nicole will always be a part of our extended family, and went out of her way on numerous occasions to make sure our children were thriving. She babysat for us on the weekends, encouraged a gentle immersion into daycare for our youngest by suggesting he visit for circle time to meet his new friends, sent the kids home with fun activities and special items, came to birthday parties, and just generally made us feel loved. I cannot thank her enough, nor could I fully put into words how wonderful a place Pint-Size Playhouse is. It was not a daycare to us, it was a second home. read more

I am SO very happy that we found Nicole at The Pint Size Playhouse when we did. After finding out that our son was not as prepared as he should've been when he started kindergarten, we wanted to find a new home-based day care for our daughter. We were extremely lucky to come across Nicole. Her program was incredible. She gave so much attention and care to each individual child. She helped work out some behavioral concerns we were seeing in our daughter, before they got out of hand. She did this by taking time out of her personal time to do research and seeking advice from her educational resources. Working closely with us, she was able to put a plan in place with our daughter in a short time, and we were able to see drastic improvements immediately. Our daughter has gone on to Elementary school, much better prepared emotionally, socially and educationally, thanks to The Pint Size Playhouse! She is excelling in academics and performance at school, which I know has so much to do with the care she received from Nicole. And, the care didn't end there. After a recent concern with some emotional issues we were recognizing, I again sought the advice from Nicole, who has continue to work closely with our family for the best care of our daughter. Once you become a member of The Pint Size Playhouse, the care does not end when your child goes off to elementary school. Nicole has come to our home to speak with our daughter and show her continued support. Nicole is now part of our family for sure. I highly recommend Nicole and her program to any family who is looking for the BEST care for their child. She is outstanding, giving each child as much care and concern as she would her own child. The Pint-Size Playhouse is truly the cream of the crop for childcare in Austin. When my husband and I met with Nicole, we knew right away that we'd found the right place for our 2.5-year-old. She may not have all the high-tech gadgetry that some of the pricier center-based daycares have, but she makes up for it in spades with her enthusiasm, expertise, and true concern for the children in her care. We loved her hands-on, imagination-and-creativity-based approach to teaching. She works hard to plan activities that will engage all the children, regardless of age. As a mom of three kids age five and under, I know how hard that is! Her home is very clean and neat, and she allows the children to feel at home when they are there. In addition to being great with kids, Nicole is also super with parents. She always emphasizes her reliance on good parent/provider communication, and she definitely follows through on that (you'd be surprised how hard that can be to find). She's very organized and great with reminders, which is super helpful for this often-frazzled working mom! I enjoyed knowing that when I was at work, my child was being cared for by a competent, mature, experienced, all-around AWESOME person. This place is just a real gem and we feel so fortunate that our family got to be a part of the Pint-Size Playhouse family. Even though we withdrew Iris once a spot opened up at the childcare center her siblings were enrolled in, we keep in touch with Nicole and are really hopeful that circumstances allow our youngest to attend the Pint-Size Playhouse after both of our older kids are in primary school. read more

I cannot tell you enough about how grateful we have been for The Pint Size Playhouse in south Austin! If you are looking for childcare in a fully licensed home setting, where there is just as much love as learning, this is the place for you. Nicole is a phenomenal caregiver, who has such a vast amount of knowledge in early childhood education, and is constantly learning more. She has been a second mom, friend and teacher to our daughter. The Pint-Size Playhouse was recommended to me by an early educator because I was looking for a model family child care site to take pictures as examples to use when I present workshops for child care staff. I have visited many programs as a past Training and Curriculum Specialist for the military and if my children were still at a young age- this is where I would bring them. Nicole understands child development and has a caring heart with the children. She provides a fantastic learning environment with a large variety of materials and books for the children. She also implements instructional strategies that enhance children's language and school readiness skills (with playful, engaging activities!) When our daughter was 18 months old we decided to find a daycare with a small group size where she could be nurtured and taught on a personal level. We found Nicole and it was a perfect match. Nicole really takes the time to help develop children into being ready for school. She runs the daycare out of her home but it is so much more than your run of the mill home daycare center. We could not have been happier with our choice to have our daughter going there from 18 months until nearly the age of 6 when she started kindergarten. Nicole puts her heart and soul into the business of caring for children. She has the energy and attentiveness necessary for small children. Her house and designated preschool areas are always clean and organized. She takes the time to really let parents know what's going on. She was so willing to work with us! Our daughter did great and had an amazing experience, she even still asks to go back to Ms. Nicole's! However, our strong-willed son didn't fare quite as well, but he still learned a lot and says he misses it there! I would definitely recommend The Pint Sized Playhouse to anyone, but I would encourage you to talk at length with Nicole about your child's temperament prior to enrollment if you know you have a very strong-willed child or one that requires a more stern approach. Like I said, my daughter did wonderfully, but it wasn't the right fit after a while for my son. I feel fortunate that Nicole was great at communicating and very honest about each child's day. That really makes a working mom feel a peace of mind. And, I feel blessed to have known her and had her influence on my children's lives forever! read more
