I needed a special faucet and they ordered it for me. I bought an exterior New Mexico flag, that is hard to find for our home down in Las Cruces. Forget the "Big Box" stores! They are terribly understaffed and when you finally find some assistance , you are highly likely to get misdirected. I love my local Ace. I walked, was met by Glenn M. and a smile. I knew what I wanted, but he offered some options that were very sensible, and I was happy when I left. Customer is not dead, neighbors!! I needed a door screen replaced and I took my damaged screen and frame in to get a replacement. Ace told me it would take a week or less to do the job. It seemed a long time for a simple job. I was asked to leave my damaged one there. A week passed and no call. Since I didn't hear from them I went the next day and the screen was ready. I don't know why they didn't call me when it was completed. The new screen frame was twisted and the work was shoddy. I took it any way and tried to install it to no avail. I spent more money than it was worth. I also can't always run into town since we live 45 miles away. Now I have to make time to return it and get a refund. They better have my old frame returned to me when I get there. read more

Ace is THE PLACE. Whenever you can never find a specialty item at Lowe's or Home Depot, you can almost guarantee they have it at ACE. They are the only ones with the interchangeable head soldering iron, after looking everywhere else. They even have a visiting veterinarian that comes a couple times a month to clip dog and cat nails, and a full variety of animal vaccines, including rabies, and rattle snake. The price is really reasonable and you do not have to pay the visit to the vet fee. The service is friendly at ACE and the associates are all so helpful. They know the store inside and out and can give you options to fit your needs. So stop all the chasing around for what you need, and just start at ACE. read more

I was looking for hooks and rockite concrete. I specifically said steel hooks, "for coffee cups??" the guy snarkily asked. When I asked if they carried concrete, he said it was outside, but he didn't know what rockite was? He led me to the hooks area, which I was already familiar. Him asking if he could help was the only pleasant interaction we had, but I could have done just as well without it, the sexist question, and the way he talked trash about me and other customers (yeah, I heard, because the other guy didn't keep it a secret). I went to return a bag of unopened dog food since it that brand got poor reviews, the lady helping me said she cannot return dog food that it's against store policy. Even though bag was not opened and I had proof of purchase. I ask for a manager and she went and talk to some man and she came back and said no that ace can't return it so I said for her to bring him over here to tell me that. So she comes back and said sorry we can return for refund just that ace can't return to vendor, which I can careless, that she misunderstood what her manager had said. Wanted to support local hardware store instead of big box type. Went in to have a duplicate vehicle key cut, and the management refused!?! Evidently, if you bring in your own key blank, ACE will NOT cut it because they want to sell you one of their key blanks. That would be fine if they had the required key fob shell, but they did not. I had purchased a key fob (shell only with blank key) and switched out the internal electronics with an existing fob (no programming required), so I only needed the key cut... wouldn't do it. So if Pioneer ACE doesn't want my business, then I'll never go there again... read more

All Ace Hardware stores tend to be great, but this one is the best! I am forever running in there needing one little thing like a particular screw and most recently a really thin Allen wrench. They always have what I need and they give me the same undivided attention and speed for 50 cents as they do when I actually need something bigger or more expensive. Their atmosphere is friendly and light-hearted, and the store is always very organized and clean; they know exactly where everything is and go to it straightaway. Every good thing said about them in these reviews has also been my experience, and there's nothing the least bit negative to say about them. read more

I purchased a hose "y" connector at the Ace Pioneer Hardware store on San Mateo here in Albuquerque on March 22nd to use with my sprinkler system. Because there was sufficient rain I did not use the sprinkler system until the middle of April and then I followed the city's advice to use it only once a week. For this reason I did not realize that the shut off on one side was defective and allowed water to continue to leak out even when it was supposedly shut off. When I tried to exchange it for one that worked correctly today (May 5th) I was told that because thirty days had passed i could not exchange it so I lost $12.99. I left the store and went to WalMart where I purchased one made by Orbit for $4.23. It is working. I would suggest to everyone to go to WalMart or Samons or even Lowe's or Home Depot for hardware and go to Ace only if those other store do not have what one needs. read more

I would rather get a Root Canal than go to my local big box hardware store. Have gone here for paint, propane, garden supplies and little this and that's over the past few years. Can always track down someone if I can't find it on my own. Staff has always been helpful and friendly and willing to load many bags of Miracle Grow and large items for me. Propane refills take about 15 - 20 minutes which I find reasonable. Very pleased with this go to neighborhood hardware store. read more

I just moved to New Mexico, and in the mail I received a $10 coupon for any item over $10. I went into this store on the day that it expired. My newborn & I walk in with no greeting (there was an employee at the entrance). People are blocking the aisle I need to go to, without bothering to move, so we stroll all the way around to get back to the RoundUp Weed Killer. I find what I need & go stand in line for a few minutes. A man stands in line on the other side. When it's my turn, the cashier offered to help the other man first. Luckily he was nice to say that I was first. Come to find out, I was off by one day, that was my fault. But they still didn't offer the coupon! I work in retail & even if a coupon expires, we ALWAYS offer it. I will never shop there again. What a nice welcome to the neighborhood. read more

This is a review for the Stiel repair and customer service at this dealer. I recently took my stiel chainsaw in for some repair work. I left a $30.00 deposit. To get it checked out. They had my saw for a little over 3 weeks. I hadn't heard from them. So I decided to drop by and find out what was found out about my saw. A heavily tattooed employee came out. I told him which saw was mine, he went to get it and returned with my saw. Then he told me that it couldn't be repaired beause it had a aftermarket carb on it. Thats fine. I was waiting for some kind of bill... However that didn't happen. He proceeded to tell me that my deposit was a diagnostic fee and, that I would not be getting any of my deposit back. You know I don't mind paying for services. However if nothing is done, no parts installed I would expect that all or part of my deposit to be refunded. That being said Stiel's products and services are only as good the people that represents them. With my current experience, I will no longer be spending any more of my funds at this location, or buying any more Stiel products, with customer service representatives like this. It's unfortunate that people like this, are able to stay employed in New Mexico.When there so many people out there with far better attudes. GF1 read more

I walked to thr the paint counter where i was ignored. After watching an employee fidget with lawn furniture I finally was addressed with a "do you have a question? ". No I want to buy paint. Another employee came to the counter and I explained I had a picture of the paint type and color so there would be no mistake. He tried to sell me a premium brand. No, I just need a a quart, I am selling the house and need it for nail hole repair. Despite that explanation he asked if I wanted a gallon. No, I want a quart. He responded with a snarky "l keep asking so I don't get it wrong. " hmmm. Customer service and general knowledge of Craftsman returns is terrible. I called and spoke with Mike about returning a 3/8 inch Craftsman socket wrench and was told we do not have that wrench but bring the kit in and if we have it we will exchange, ask for Wes when you get here. When entering the store I went to counter and asked for Wes when the young boy behind the counter said he had heard my conversation with Mike on the phone and he was short and curt. Then Wes shows up and he was an employee that just didn't want to be at work, to say it mildly. Because Wes doesn't want to deal with this, onto the next employee...Josh. He asks "do you know how many piece kit this is" I answered no. His response, "that's a lot of help". It gets better, now Sharon arrives, store manager...."we can't exchange the kit, he didn't buy it here", yet her employee instructed me otherwise. Good hardware store, nice selection, helpful staff so you can get what you want most of the time, but as huge as this place is they do not carry the Ace house brand screwdrivers, which I found odd because the are excellent screwdrivers for smaller tasks (I use them for laptops, personal electronics and small screws around the house). They are inexpensive, well constructed, have precisely shaped, hardened tips and I love the spinner on the end which makes working with small screws a delight instead of a nightmare. Unfortunately they don't carry these house brand screwdrivers here at all. The employees can order them but none were familiar with the small sizes I needed (I already have almost every Ace house brand screwdriver they make so I know whats missing from my collection). My alternative to being able to buy just one precision screwdriver at a time is to get them from Germany, which is easy to do in any size but I prefer to buy locally and wish they would be available here, close to home. I do like that the staff helps me to find items that are on sale and they seem to always have a cheerful disposition. read more
