It was almost too easy to give 5 stars. The barista was pleasant and very helpful, we had 2 hungry kids who didn't know what they wanted. I wish I could remember her name to thank her for her patience. Cinnamon roll and blackberry scone were divine! We also ordered breakfast burritos, ham and cheese roll, and breakfast sandwich on croissant. All of which were scrumptious and filling. Coffee connoisseurs will be very pleased, their coffee is incredibly smooth and my cappuccino was perfect. Will be returning after our next Little Si hike. read more

Came in here on the way out of town to grab a coffee and some breakfast. Coffee was very smooth and the sandwich was just want was needed. The shop is also super cute. Lots of little things to look at and local products to buy. Staff were also very nice and patient with my indecision between heated and unheated sandwich. Ultimately it was nice to have it heated and it was a yummy sandwich. I'd definitely stop in if I'm in that area again. read more

The Pioneer Coffee sign is still above the door but when I presented a Pioneer Coffee of North Bend gift card I was told that this was a new company and that they would not accept the card. I was then told that they would be "happy" to cancel our order. Crappy customer service. OK they won't accept the card. Found this spot in North bend while visiting and thought of coming this am for a coffee and wanted to catch on work. The coffee shop is good with decor, seating and drinks- no complaints on that. But the barista, a lady is extremely rude. My partner and I came in and headed to get a spot as it was filled with people. We wanted to order after few people left as there wasn't any space to stand. After about 15 mins, thr barista walks up to us and says 'you'll have to order something to stay here'. We let her know we would be doing it, she was in a hurry, so couldn't add anything else. She came back again after 5 minutes only to tell us again to order, else we can't sit in here. My partner let her know that he'd taken a medicine and needs to wait for 45 mins to drink/eat anything. She replied sorry and left, only to be speaking about us to another customer in not so good way. We have never felt so uneasy in any coffee spot till now and have always always have had sweet baristas. We immediately got up to order only to avoid another call from her and were utterly upset the way Pioneer coffee incident happened to us. read more

I'm currently sitting in the back of the café, sipping an Americano and dying over the smell of fresh pastries. There's a couple girls chatting over coffees with the cutest mugs, an older gentleman designing on his laptop, his golden retriever sits by his side. This is the perfect morning hangout after we spent the night at the North Bend Film Festival events. I've spotted a couple people I saw around the event last night so it's nice to feel like I'm part of the community even though I'm only here for the weekend. I personally absolutely insanely and extremely disliked their roast. I don't recall ever returning coffee before. I did today. Ordered a nonfat wet cappuccino and first time around the barista made it without espresso in it. I kid you not. I thought I was losing it that maybe their roast is just super light and that's why I only tasted milk. She definitely apologized so customer service wise not downrating the place. But once she made it with the actual espresso in my cappuccino it was seriously the worst cup of coffee I've ever had in the US. (The absolute worst I had was my friend's fault cause she ordered me a cigarette smoke coffee in Hungary. So. Pioneer comes in 2nd worst in the world.) I stood in line for quite some time to return my coffee, but I did cause it was that bad and cost at $5 was simply too much to not get a refund. This coffee shop is so easy to rave about already, from its bright, eclectic atmosphere to its wide variety of drink selections and house made goodies. Ashleigh was so friendly, helpful, kind, and knowledgeable of the menu; seriously give this girl a raise if you can. Additionally, if the iconic hospitality and warm environment aren't enough to draw you in; the easy accessible parking, free wifi, and its support of local artisans are a featured plus. Needless to say, Pioneer Coffee is a stapled complement to the scenic city of North Bend and a true illustration of life here in the PNW. read more

I love most coffee places because, hey, coffee, but this is by far the best coffee shop hands down and bar none. Stop in to grab a cup to go, or stay a while--they love having people. Lots of local groups use Pioneer Coffee as their general meeting place. Lots of tables, outdoor seating (in the warmer months), good choices for breakfasts, lunch, or a light dinner, wine and beer, drinks for the kids--it has lots of great choices. Free Wi-fi, of course, wonderful art on the wall by local artists (the linoleum prints are especially fine), the ambiance of free spirits--there are so many reasons to choose this place. The *only* bad thing is parking. It is extremely limited due to the way North Bend handles its traffic issues. But hunt around--there's a lot a block away and another across the street. read more

My well behaved black poodle "Lucky" has to freeze outside, so I do not stay too long. Good beer, wine ,wraps and burritos. Baristas are generally fast and frienndly. What a treat! This place was recommended by the owner of the motel we stayed at and I'm so glad we came to check it out! Like other reviews mentioned the breakfast burritos are incredible and the scone was one of the best I've had. Coffee is great too! Prices are extremely reasonable and the staff was so kind and helpful. We had a less than stellar experience at twede's the night before and this spot more than made up for that. This is one of my new favorite places, especially after they were so beyond wonderful and accommodating to a large group of people (that included me and my kids) for the March For Our Lives rally in North Bend. We've been coming here for several years now. Not coming in quite as often as I used to which was not a lot to begin with. Today, however, I had time to reflect on this. I walked in. There were two people behind the counter. The gal making a drink. The guy? Neither bothered to acknowledge me with a Hi, a good morning, or I'll be right with you. I stood there at least five minutes until she finished making Bob's drink. She came over and said "what can I get you?" I seriously thought about not buying anything today. I cut my usual order to a grande latte extra hot instead since I drove 7 miles to get there already. It was a plain latte. No art on top. No extra hot. Not a full cup. Starbucks just opened another place less than a mile from me. Guess I'll give them a try. read more

My wife and I stopped by Pioneer roasting company in the evening on our way through town. We had seen the other good reviews and decided to give this shop a try! We arrived about 30 minutes before closing and we walked into an empty shop. It took about 30 seconds before the employee walks in from outside. She was just chilling on her phone and customer service didn't seem very high on her priority list. She took our order and quickly made our drinks. I ordered a iced americano and my wife ordered a iced mocha. The worker was struggling to put the lid on my wife's drink, and when she handed it to her (without the lid on all the way), the lid popped off and spilled the drink all over my wife's arm/hand/shoe. The worker offered no help, no sympathy, and responded with a "oh, you better be careful!". That's horrible customer service in my opinion. Also, we asked for some napkins, and she handed us a dirty rag used to clean up espresso grounds...awesome. The quality of the drinks was pretty reasonable. There was way too much water in my iced americano and not enough ice. Atmosphere was cute with plenty of outdoor, sidewalk seating. They didn't have a ton of room if people wanted to camp out and study, however. Frankly, the service I received here was sub par and below a chain such as Starbucks. The coffee was marginally better than alternatives. I will try out another local shop in the area. I don't have any desire to return to Pioneer Coffee. read more
