After two hours of trying to get rides, we found this place. Rick, who owns and operates the motel alone, came and picked up us and all our luggage himself. After calling Rick and asking if he had a room for us, and could give us a ride, it was no more than 20 minutes from being stranded at a closed gas station in the freezing cold, to being checked into a room. He even gave us some homemade beef jerky in case we didn't have any food. (best beef jerky I've ever had) Great prices, great service, excellent place to stay. If I am ever near that area again, Crossroads Motel & Cabin is where I'll be staying.

The generic chain hotels didn't appeal to me, so I looked to Airbnb for something better. Enter Walker House. From the beginning, my communication with the owner Mike was prompt, courteous, and professional. When I arrived, he was there to greet me, and my private room was cozy, clean, and included some refreshments -- a welcome creature comfort after the 10 hour drive! I shared a bathroom, but it was clean, spacious, and had more than enough clean white towels for myself and the other guests utilizing it. Not to be outdone, Sue made a delicious breakfast in the morning. I enjoyed fresh fruit salad, eggs Benedict, and homemade blueberry muffins. I was super stuffed by the end, but didn't mind a bit! The cherry on top was when I had to leave early to drive home (to the tune of 5 AM). Mike woke up and made me a to-go cup of coffee for the road. Everyone just stands in a small area as they try to determine who arrived first. Strange. Service was average. Steak - We had the tenderloin and T-bone. We both agree that they were the worst steaks we've ever had. Like ever. I was barely able to cut the tenderloin with the steak knife. They meat said it's supposed to be broiled but both steaks were just grey - like they were baked? I don't know. But yuck. We will not be back. There is a reason the prices are so low.

At 5:30 pm every evening, Dave hosts "happy hour" in the Indigo Lounge, where you can sit at the bar, take in the view and enjoy some fine wine and a really delicious charcuterie plate put together by Trudy.
