This review is overdue, we recently had the pleasure of staying at Cedar Lake Lodge and Settlement in Wisconsin Dells, and I cannot rave enough about this incredible property and its amazing owners. We were in search of a place where we could rent the entire property for our wedding and wanted a place where we could offer all of the ages of the family something to do at any given moment. This place delivered!! My best friend and I called this place on a roadtrip because we found it on google and thought it was worth a shot and Chris the owner answered and was so kind and thoughtful that we detoured and stopped to meet him there in the middle of winter. We chose this place because of him and the fabulous, well kept property. We talked with Chris and his wife several times prior to our August wedding and they were patient with our planning process and able to accommodate all of our requests. We cannot thank them enough for the use of the clubhouse and pool! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and exceptional service that made our stay truly unforgettable.  Chris and his wife Angie, the staff and property were more than we could have dreamed up! The property itself is absolutely stunning, nestled in a picturesque setting that offers breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere of the Wisconsin River. It was the perfect site for our wedding and family gathering, providing a beautiful backdrop for our special day and ample space for all our guests to relax and enjoy.  The owners went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of, making the entire experience seamless and stress-free. My husband and I needed a quick getaway from Chicago and decided last minute to go to the Dells. It seems like the number of quality cabins available for rent within weeks notice was extremely limited but luckily Cedar Lodge had us covered. We booked a whirlpool suite that served us the most scenic sunrises and sunsets over a dancing river. We checked in later in the evening past their office hours so the property manager left us detailed instructions on how to find our suite and how to check in. In terms of the location, it was absolutely perfect because like what most other reviewers said, it's away from the hustle and bustle which allows you to enjoy the peace and quiet but it lets you get back to the action in no more than 10 minutes. The suite itself was just very clean,cozy, and quaint with a few updated touches like a stainless steel fridge and a later model jacuzzi. The only reason why I gave this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the spring mattress in the bedroom and the futon were very uncomfortable which prevented us from getting a full nights rest but maybe if I brought a mattress topper it would be more bearable. Overall this was a very pleasant stay and I would definitely consider coming back. read more

Friendly service. Very clean. Everything was in great working order. We stayed in a whirlpool fireplace cabin. Plenty of room for everyone and great view of the water. Our stay came with tickets for Big Cat Rescue and Noah's Ark. Unfortunately Noah's Ark wasn't open during our stay (despite the fact their website said they would be open daily starting Memorial Day weekend), not Cedar Lodge's fault, and hindsight we probably didn't miss much since we stayed a few days at Glacier Canyon/Wilderness. Big Cat Rescue was about 30 minutes away. It was fun to look at the big cats but make sure you go first thing in the morning if it's summer because the cats hide when the day is hot. Cedar Lodge is in a great location - very convenient to everything in the Dells. This place exceeded our expectations. read more

Had an amazing time here, from start to finish Angie was beyond helpful. Perfect place for a little getaway! Our Villa was clean and cozy! The perfect feeling of a home away from home!!! Just don't cross the no trespassing sign which is on the beach, because the cranky old man who lives next door to the resort will walk down 100 steps just to tell you to move!! Unbelievable watched him yelling at three young girls who were just sunbathing and not bothering anyone!!! read more

We had 4 adults 3 kids and staying in Cabin #27. The cabin was very nice and clean. It was perfect for our group. Check in time was 3pm and check out time was before 10am. I had nothing to complain to this place seriously! We will be back soon. read more

This place is spectacular! From the nice staff in the office to the awesome views off the decks this place is amazing! We had room 8 so it was 2 bedrooms which was nice and even with 5 people we had plenty of room in the room for family. This place is right on the Wisconsin River and has its own beach. It's close enough to Rivers Edge so you can rent kayaks, etc. The pool is great and they even have cabins across the street! We just got home from a 5 day stay in room 20. I completely forgot to write in the room journal n I just now remembered...I'm so mad I didn't write in it!! We got a lot of good places to go eat at and things to do because of that journal...make sure you read your room journal!! As far as are room and stay we had a blast!! The room and whole place was just like the pictures. Very comfortable beds n cozy place. The beach was great and very quiet....my husband and I where the only ones down at the beach. They do a fire each nite which was nice on the chilly nites. We will definitely be back!! Management and all staff are awesome and made us feel like we knew them forever!! Our only complaint is in room 20 you are on the top floor and when you sit on your balcony you have a view of trees and you can only hear the jet boaters and ducks go past. You can see the beach when you look down but you can not see straight ahead. Next time we will definitely get a room on the 1st floor. read more

Just ended a perfect stay at Cedar Lodge! First off is like to commend the staff for making our stay the best. Our first day was rainy so we wanted to see if we could check in early. Our room wasn't quite ready when we called but that told us to stop by early to get the attraction certificates offered with our stay. That was so nice! Our room did end up being ready earlier than expected as well. Very helpful staff. We stayed in villa #8. It was very clean and spacious. We had six people but it slept up to eight. Master bedroom had a full bath with jetted tub. Second bedroom had two double beds with patio doors to deck overlooking the water. The living room had a pull out couch as well. Master bedroom had a small tv. Second room had no tv, but who needs tv with the views you have there. Living room had a big tv so if you need to watch tv to sleep I suggest sleeping on the pull out couch. The deck was huge with patio door from living room as well as from second bedroom. Very nice gas grill to use. Small full kitchen was just perfect. Kitchen table was beautiful and could easily fit 8. Full bathroom at entrance. Heated pool was very nice. The beach was pretty too! The weather wasn't really hot while we visited so we didn't use the beach much. Only thing for me on the beach I didn't like was the goose drippings lol. Fun to watch the geese but they are messy. Honestly looks as though the staff cleans up after them. Can't help if the geese chose your beach lol. Overall we had a great time! We used the Noah's ark passes one day although they're good for your entire stay. Just a heads up, you'll still be paying for parking at Noah's ark which is $20-$25. We also used the Big cats rescue voucher. That was a neat place to visit only 20 mins away. We did not use the Tom Foolery's adventure park passes, just ran out of time. Yes, yes, yes!!!! These rooms have a cabin feel, and they overlook the Wisconsin River. I love everything about this place: the room, the scenery, and the service. This isn't a hotel, really, but they do have staff and the staff is really nice. This is good for families and couples. There is plenty to do in the summer on the lake, and in the cooler weather the bonfire and fake fireplace are romantic. Do be aware that you have to take your trash out and clean the dishes, but there is maid service that will do the rest. Also, it isn't walking distance to anything aside from the River Walk Pub, which is seriously terrible (see the reviews). But... shuttles will take you to and from bars and strip clubs for free, if that is your thing. Also, you get tickets to the Chula Vista indoor waterpark for every night you stay! Wanna get away? You MUST stay at Cedar Lodge then! My boyfriend and I just got back from staying here and we were thrilled with everything from the service to the cabin feel of the room to the view overlooking the lake. We were celebrating my boyfriend's 30th birthday and I had called Cedar Lodge a few weeks in advance with a weird request; I wanted to know if they would be able to blow up balloons for me and scatter them across the room if I had them mailed to them before our visit; they excitedly said they would love to help me pull off this surprise and were even going to do it for no extra cost. To MY surprise when we arrived they went one step further; instead of scattering the balloons I had sent them they went out and bought their own balloons and had them tied up all around the room. Needless to say, my boyfriend was surprised. The room was nice and cozy, it had that log cabin, get away from the city feel we were looking for. The location was nice, being tucked away feeling like you're miles away from anything, but only a short drive away from the Dells if you want to go, and the shuttle to the casino will even pick you up right outside your door. May not be worth the money. A lot is not explained on the website. PROs: Fantastic soft sandy beach backed by grassy gorgeous area; a few old trees provide shady options. Beautiful wooden chairs. Fire pit. Outdoor pool is warm and surrounded by fence to keep kids safe. Group deck has tables and chairs. Each room has a private deck with chairs and table. Many rooms have a kitchenette. Comfy bed. CONs: No food available at any time. They do have coffee at breakfast - just coffee, no milk or creamer or sugar. Don't plan to use the sofa bed. Ours was old and U-shaped. Small children roll on top of one another. The river has loads of rocks. Fine if you have water shoes. There is also massive boat traffic and no defined swimming area. That's important because the river is so shallow it's easy for little kids to go a long way out. No canoes or floatation devices available unless you want to pay. No towels for river or pool. The layout is not as described in their map. The main building is in two floors (rather than two sides as depicted). That's a bonus, as all rooms front on the river. However, the cabins behind the main building are actually across a parking lot and a public road. The club house is nothing to boast about. Despite the use of a cleaning service, you are required to clean your room before departing, including cleaning, drying, and putting away all dishes and hauling trash across the street. Checkout is 10am. They'll fine you by the half hour after that. (Check IN is 3pm.) The office staff explains everything by saying that each unit is individually owned. That's a great excuse for differences between the rooms (which mean that some are far more worth the money than others) but not for the other issues. read more

Place was excellent, we had a large group and it was nice to all be close and be able to use the lodge next to the pool. Fishing was great, dock was easily accessible. Fun to fish with all the Wisconsin Ducks passing by. There is a bar down the street. read more

I want to start this review by saying that I really wanted to give this location 5 stars, I just am really frustrated by the person who was working when I called. The reason we were making this trip to the dells was to go snowboarding at cascade and I saw the deal online for this hotel so I called and asked once about the deal and if it was for Cascade and the woman working the front desk informed me you get lift tickets. I called and asked a question once more specifically about Cascade and she said yes so I booked. She was super friendly and helpful, but once I checked in and they handed me Christmas Mountain lift tickets, I was not happy. I would have gone snowboarding closer to my house considering that mountain is not very big. So anyway, The man working at the office was very friendly and helpful with telling us everything about the hotel and surrounding area. I loved the property and location. We were probably 1 of 4 people staying there at this time of the year so it was very quiet and nice. The room was nice and warm when we got there. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I really liked the rugs that they had too. Everything was very clean and I was really happy with the hotel overall. The balcony overlooking the river was great. We were in #14 We also got Chula Vista water park passes which was nice so we used those. The one other thing that was frustrating was that house cleaning came at 9:30am. I understand lots of people get up early, but me and my boyfriend are all about sleeping in late especially on vacation so we were a little annoyed by this. Maybe the hotel could get some do not disturb signs for the people that like to sleep a bit later. The house cleaning does do a great job though. I would love to stay again maybe if the hotel offered something to us since it was not listening right on their part and that was the real reason we had gone on this trip and were pretty bummed out because we didn't want to waste the free lift tickets we had and spend another $100 on top of our trip to go to Cascade instead then. read more

For our weekend trip to the Dells, we were looking for something with a little more character than one of the waterpark resorts. We ended up choosing Cedar Lodge & Settlement because the rooms looked large and inviting. We arrived pretty late on Friday evening and were still checked in pretty quickly. The actual lodge is split into two sections - a large motel-esque lodge and a separate cluster of private cabins. We ended up staying in a room in the lodge building. The room itself is large, with vaulted ceilings. We realized that it was much less of a log cabin and more of a motel with paneling added to make it look like logs. This was somewhat disappointing, but understandable for the price. Each room had a nice balcony overlooking the river - which I'm sure we would have enjoyed much more in the summer. A couple comments on our stay: - The rooms are clean, however we did not realize that it was our own responsibility to do most of the cleaning (e.g. take out the trash, etc.). It sounds like the maid service is primarily for towel replacement. - This is somewhat my fault, but I thought that while researching, TripAdvisor had an special saying free water park passes were included. It's my fault that I did not call to confirm. HOWEVER, the room rate is $180 for peak season, with passes included to Noah's Ark ($38.99/pass). We paid $120 for low season, with NOTHING included. So clearly, it is a much better deal to stay here in the summer when they have free passes and multiple activities. - The office closes at around 8-10 PM. Not absolutely certain. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but people in our neighboring unit were banging until about 2 AM on the first night we were there and then were blasting music/their TV until 12 AM the second night. It would have been much nicer to have a front desk to handle these types of awkward situations. Overall, it was a nice lodge off the main strip. I'm sure we would have been a bit more pleased with our experience if we'd stayed here in the summer. If I am up here again for the winter, I will probably choose some place else. read more

My family (15 adults, 4 kids) went for a long weekend. We enjoyed Lourdes stay for the most part. The rooms were recently updated and the bathrooms were very nice. I wasn't impressed with the soap dispensers instead of bars/bottles. The towels also seemed small. The room had a cabin feel as advertised and room to room was different furniture. It was nice and in good repair. The bed was rock hard, like sleeping on the floor. The grounds were well kept and there was a groundskeeper working. The pool was nice though crowded with our family or the other family. You could also swim in the river. There were a handful of glaring negatives. First the Internet connection was weak to say it kindly. If I could get a signal at all it would take a couple minutes to load a page. We were trying to find direction and it was frustrating. We also reserved a sun deck with a grill to grill out. The chairs were low adarinack style and more than a few were broken. The grill was rusted through on the supports and unsafe. We ended up finding another from a balcony. They also messed up the billing as there was a group and individual payment on the rooms. They were able to settle my account within two days but another member of our groupnis still trying to reimbursed for a double charge over a week later. Cedar Lodge is AMAZING! My husband and I stayed in one of the whirlpool suites for our honeymoon 6 years ago and we have been back 3 times since staying in their Deluxe Lodge rooms other times. We found Cedar Lodge thanks to it's already high rating on TripAdvisor. The staff was super friendly and very helpful offering ideas for the neat things that are usually missed when just looking through the main tourist attraction books and telling us about local restaurants that had great food. It was close enough to the main attractions, but far enough away that you really felt like you were getting away from it all. You feel like you're "up north" and you can just feel your cares melting away the minute you set foot on the property. It is very quiet and relaxing. The guestbook in the rooms is a neat touch...it's fun reading the stories (and warnings/recommendations about local businesses) of others who stayed there. read more

My family booked 2 rooms, one on the first floor - Unit 6 - and one on the second floor. The second floor unit was very nice and don't have the issues we did. Unit 6 was not worth the extra cost. It was extremely rundown. The mattress had huge ruts, the couch cushions were torn, and the porch was sticky (the raccoons even stuck to it). There were several other guests that were extremely well loud all night even though it is posted that quiet hours are strictly enforced. Nothing was enforced and the office was closed so who enforces it? I would not recommend staying here. read more

Wow - LOVE this place! It's a peaceful respite from the craziness of the Dells. The management rocks - I had left 2 pillows in my room after our Labor Day family reunion and emailed to see if I could get them back. Less than a week later, they were delivered to my doorstep. Corporate America could take a lesson in customer service from these guys. I also loved the extras - the fire pit, the beach, the pool, the party room, the 100 yd walk to the bait shop, etc. etc etc. This was completely worth the money. We had such a great time here. Stayed for 2 more nights! The cabins are beautiful, the staff incredibly nice and its just far enough away from downtown to feel like you're away from it all. Has a nice lake where they have bonfires at night. We enjoyed talking to the other vacationers. A nice restaurant/bar next door for having drinks. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the dells. The cabins are reasonably priced. Well worth it. We smile every time we think of the time we spent there. read more

Just returned from a few days getaway and loved Cedar Lodge. The staff (Maria, Chris and Angie) were friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable with a beautiful view of the Wisconsin River and private beach. It is close enough to the attractions (within 5-10 minutes) but not so close as to be bothered by all of the traffic, etc. You have a getaway within the getaway. Highly recommended for those who don't want to be in the middle of it all of the time. Would definitely make a return trip! read more

Every time I go to this place it is always a great time. I've stayed at all the mega resorts and this place bar none is the best. You get a great clean room at a good price. I'll be honest its not the cheapest but you truly get what you pay for. Everyone who works there is always very nice and bends over backwards to make sure you have a great stay. The best part of this place is that even though it is super peaceful its only a 10 minute ride to downtown. Trust me when I tell you spend the extra money and go to this place.
