I want to share my experience regarding the noise levels during our recent stay. We encountered significant disturbances due to poor soundproofing, which made it unbearable, especially when traveling with a small child. For two of the three nights, the noise was excessive. During our last night, which much needed sleep, I contacted the front desk twice. The first time, I was told security would address the loud group on the patio. On my second call, I was advised to approach the guests myself to ask them to lower their volume, which I found quite shocking. When I requested the staff's name, she began to spell it out instead of simply stating it, and ultimately hung up on me. Given that we paid over $500/per night was too much for not getting much sleep. As well as the lack of support and rude service were very disappointing. I hope future guests take note of this issue and similar other reviews about the excessive noise level likely due to lack of soundproofing. read more

5 stars for Wilderness on the Lake. I didn't experience a stay at the hotel itself as I stayed at the regular Wilderness resort, but I did get to explore the resort and experience their water park/gift shop and escape rooms. This resort is much more quiet than the regular Wilderness Resort, it's not as busy and there is only 1 water park here. You get a nice view of Lake Delton from the Jacuzzi at the water park and in the summer time there is a really nice indoor/outdoor connecting pool open overlooking the lake. There are also basketball hoops in the pools you can play in and a nice kids area and a quick service food/bar/coffee shop. Overall I think this is a nice resort - take the blue bus to get to the other water parks on Wilderness property. read more

We paid a massive extreme amount of money for a 2 bedroom condo on a Monday, Tuesday night and for that epic kind of money I would think the beds would be comfortable ..they were complete cement and all of us had horrible sleep woke up in pain ..the room was beautiful but sliding glass doors to look out without a balcony was horrible ..if you are going to charge that kind of money they need to do a lot better ..the water parks were eh at best ..the adult drinks were astronomically expensive ..For that price we will go back to Chulas condos because their beds are very comfortable ,they have balconies and patios and their indoor pool, lazy river and slides blows wild erness out of the water ..We paid $800 for 2 nights on a "Sale " for those kind of beds you should be charging half that and let people know hey by the way we have cement beds you may want to pack accordingly like bring a few pillow toppers with you . read more

Wilderness On The Lake was GREAT. We had the 2 bedroom condo. The bedrooms are nicely separated for privacy with 1 bathroom for each bedroom. One bedroom had a king bed and the other had 2 queens. There was also a twin rollaway bed and a crib ready if needed. You can easily sleep 8 in this condo. There was a full kitchen equipped with essential needs, living room, dining area, balcony, and an in condo jacuzzi on the balcony. There were 2 fireplaces, one in the living room and one on the enclosed balcony. The balcony overlooked the lake which was very relaxing. There is a shuttle that will take you to each of the Wilderness resorts if you want to explore them all or you can drive your car. Each resort has indoor and outdoor waterparks but each is unique in it's own way. They do a good job of catering to both adults, teens, and tots. Children under 48" are required to wear a life vest which they have available on site. I felt this was a nice safety feature. Each park included slides for all ages, lazy rivers, splash pads and arcades. The site with wave pool has private air conditioned cabanas that you can rent for the day and a staff member that will take care of your food & drink needs (food & drink are extra of course). There is also a swim-up Tiki Bar for the adults in your group. The arcades each feature different options like a multi-level go-cart track, laser tag, escape room, overhead skill park with zip lining & balance beams, and of course games galore. The only thing I felt was lacking was a variety of healthy food options. We searched for fruit bowls, high quality salads, and vegetable dishes but it wasn't there. The steakhouse however is fantastic!!! The age range of our group of 5 was between 4yrs and 74yrs. We all used the waterslides and had a wonderful time. There's something for everyone. Rented a two bedroom condo for just 3 people. It was very large and the two bathrooms were enormous. There were 2 fireplaces and 4 TVs. Good kitchen area. The indoor "water park" area was very small meant for small kids about 7 years old and younger. They had a large outdoor pool and hot tub. The staff service was very slow and they seemed bored. We drove over to the main hotel water parks for 3 days and used all of the pools there. There were spread apart and it is a long walk between the 3 indoor water areas. They all had an outside water park next to them. I have taken the grandson to the Great Wolf for a few years and he said this was much better. They do have things like go carts, both indoor and outdoors. With the all day pass you have access to laser tag, go carts, mini golf and some arcade games. They also have restaurants and if you rent a condo with a full kitchen they do sell some frozen pizza and microwave food. Best bet would be to bring food like you were at home if you want. They also have about 15 grills outside in a nice area in the back of the hotel. Over all this is a good place to stay I really liked being across the lake from the main resort. It is a big place and they do have shuttles but I found driving my car easier. We only left the resort to go out for dinner as we wanted to eat at certain restaurants. The only downside to our 3 days was the Dells in general, it has become worn down and flooded with foreign workers. Very hard to communicate with them at times. The boats, ducks, and outside water parks are showing their wear. With Tommy Bartlett Show gone the last few years the whole experience is not as good. It almost has that carnival vibe. Ii read more

I feel compelled to update my previous review as it should be known that the majority of the issues we encountered were in fact resolved. We did have to go through a few people, but the end result was favorable and fair which we truly appreciate. We are all just people and understand that mistakes and things happen, but unfortunately we had to deal with the issues on day 1. Despite all the issues we endured during our stay- Wilderness is a great resort as referenced in my previous reviews of Glacier Canyon and Wilderness Hotel. Wilderness on the Lake is also a very nice resort with a lot of great things in addition to the unfortunate things referenced. The lifeguards at this place play by there own rules. They say you have to have a life jacket on your child playing in kiddy area but no where in the other 4 areas of waterparks are these rules. When confronted they got mad and wanted to throw me out. As an owner I am saddened to know this is happening. read more

We stayed in a two-bedroom lake-front condo on the 2nd floor. PROS: -The room itself is very spacious, and the two bedrooms are set up in a way that gives each occupant a bit of privacy and space. One of the bedroom entrances is set up near the entrance of the room while the other bedroom is basically on the opposite corner. The master bedroom does share a door/entrance to the balcony, but the curtains can be drawn and door locked on the bedroom side to ensure privacy. Lots of locks on doors are available too. -Room has a "rustic" type of decor that lends itself well to a lot of the rest of the decoration at the Wilderness on the Lake. Lots of wood decorations and brown colors. The balcony has a lot of natural lighting, but aside from that, the rest of the place is entirely lightbulb-lit - and much more "mood lighting" than anything else. No rooms are too bright. -There are two fireplaces in the condo too. One in the living room and one in the balcony area. Sitting with the warm of the fireplace while listening to the sounds of the lake and ducks while curled up in a comfortable chair in a blanket reading a book was fantastic. -The in-room jacuzzi was amazing. Not only does it fill up in 2 minutes (quite literally. The water pressure on this thing is intense), but you can still see out the window to enjoy a lake view while you use it. Be aware that the edge of the tub is "lipped", though, so it's a bit uncomfortable to sit on the edge of the tub just to dip your legs in unless you grab a towel as a "seat" or something. -The master bathroom has a shower with two shower heads (with independent controls) on different ends of the shower. This would work particularly well for showering with a partner (and no one would ever get cold). -Speaking of the shower, the water temperature was amazing, and there seemed to be a pretty big water tank. I never ran out of water. Good water pressure too. -Condo is "hidden" enough in a small forest of trees that it feels private while it's only three blocks from the main streets of Dells. You're within 10 minutes of virtually anything in the city, I'd guess. Right turns are simple to make while you'll need to go a couple blocks over to make a (light-protected) left turn. -The on-site waterpark (Cubby's Cove) definitely feels aimed towards children. It's a full children's play area along with a small pool with basketball hoops and a climbing area. There's a large indoor/outdoor hot tub area nearby, though, with a regular outdoor bar and infinity pool outside too. Indoor/outdoor hot tub was still open after Labor Day while the infinity pool was closed. The waterpark/hot tubs here were WAY less packed than over at the Wilderness proper. There's also an on-site convienence store and Proudly Brewing Starbucks coffeeshop, an escape room, and an arcade. There's a free shuttle that runs between Wilderness on the Lake (bus-wise) every 15 minutes and lake-wise (supposed to be every 10 minutes). -If you plan on spending some time on the small, private beach that the Wilderness on the Lake boasts, you'll likely have some good privacy. I could count the amount of time I saw people down there on one hand. CONS: -We booked this place because we were told that the "Water taxi" was definitely a "must do" way to transport between the Wilderness properties, and it seemed fun. I called ahead to ensure the taxi would be running on at least one day of our stay. It was. When we checked in, I, again, asked when the water taxi would run, and they told me all day on Saturday. Well, we woke up Saturday and ate breakfast. We came down at 11AM to ride the water taxi and sat. and sat. and sat. Waiting for it to show up. After getting fed up of waiting for someone to show up, we went to the front desk to be told that the taxi was cancelled for the rest of the day because only one person had showed up in the previous 3 hours - and that it wasn't going to run the rest of the weekend. Considering how expensive rooms here are and how little effort it takes to keep an employee around to drive a boat, this seems a bit ridiculous. -If you're hoping to enjoy all of the noise of the lake when you open your balcony door to enjoy the breeze, make sure to request a room away from the outdoor pool/bar area. On the second floor, we easily heard cheers/screams from the pool and bar - which is not quite the "ideal" lakefront noises. -Also be aware that the balcony doors leading outside will not open all the way. You'll always have a screen on the door - preventing you from leaning out over the railing. As we watched tons and tons of wasps climb on the screen door, this seems like it might have been for the best. -Rooms are expensive. Our two-bedroom was $280 a night on OFF season. This is definitely supposed to be the "upscale" version of their standard Wilderness property. read more

We had an absolute amazing time when we stay here for my sons 18th birthday. Definitely will be returning.

The concept of building a part of the resort on the lake is a great idea, especially for warm weather months! They have outdoor grills and condos right on the lake. We went in winter and utilized the shuttle system to take us to the waterparks. Shuttle system is pretty good - we used the blue line which runs often enough we were never waiting very long to be picked up. Condos have more room than the usual hotel rooms, but word of warning- they are part of the resort but somehow individually owned so they can vary as far as what is stocked in the kitchen, etc. We had a few missing items from the kitchen that were supposed to have been there, and actually ended up leaving the owners a suggestion list of items they should consider sticking the kitchen with because we were missing some pretty basic things we could've used, like oven mitts, a dishcloth/scrubber, a cookie sheet, etc. - just basic stuff. So pack everything you think you may need if it's going to be an issue not to have it, just in case! read more

This part of "The Wilderness" is great for younger kids. We met up with some friends that had extra passes. While my kids are older, they still managed to have fun. The great part was that the pool area was pretty quiet - for a while, we were the only ones in there. The food service was terrible, however. The food itself was hit-and-miss (good breadsticks, bad burger, decent hot dog, ok fries). But it took FOREVER for them to make it. We were the only ones there... not sure what the holdup was. It took 40 minutes to make 4 things. I think they made one item at a time and couldn't multitask. But, that wasn't the main purpose of our visit, so I won't bag on it too hard. If you have younger kids, this is a great place to hang out - avoid the crowds of the larger waterparks and kick back in a child-safe zone. They have shuttles that take you to the larger sections of Wilderness, so you're not stuck out there if you want to explore more. read more

Wilderness on the Lake condos are the way to do it! The lovely, spacious condos have a great view of lake Delton. Full kitchen, large rooms, 2 large bathrooms, two fireplaces (one of which is out on the 4 season porch next to a jacuzzi tub) are many of the pluses to these condos! Great for groups or families! Our family usually stays a whole weekend. Its not as loud with screaming kids as the main hotel. It's on the other side of the wilderness resort but they shuttle you to and fro regularly. We love to stay here in winter. It's close 3 hour drive from the twin cities and honestly they have the MOST indoor fun for your buck! The biggest indoor water park space, biggest arcade, indoor mini golf and a new indoor go kart track! All of these things can be enjoyed at a deal if you get the fun pass cards ! I rented a 2 bedroom condo on the lake back in December to celebrate my graduation with my family! It was a very nice relaxing time even though it was freezing out with temperatures in the single digits! . The transportation back and forth to the main hotel was very easy and convenient even with two young children! This place is racist! They harassed my entire family! Made us feel so uncomfortable, and un wanted. The night manager and attendant is the worst, he came to our door for two nights straight complaining about noise that didn't come from our room. Instead of finding the correct room he spent 30min threatening us. We asked him multiple times to do a walk through so he would see our kids were sleeping but he refused. Also this is a kids resort, they made the kids feel as if they couldn't have fun! I would never come here again. I would not recommend this place! read more

I'll give this place 5 stars and explain my experience. I found there to be plenty of parking. My son and I went to check out the lake, had to step over 4 teenagers enjoying some of the local street pharmacists' herbal remedies, to get down the stairs. The front desk staff was pleasant, they seemed busy. But we're polite none the less. Check in was fast, our room was ready at 2pm. Our room was nice. The hot tub in the room worked, as did all the remotes and tvs. They let us fish from the dock, and didn't hassle me about putting in a paddle board. The pontoons for the boat ride looked to be in pretty good condition. The maintenance staff was very polite. It smells like downtown Denver through out the property. ( if you live there you know) The beach was clean and accessible. Our beds were comfortable, and clean. The indoor and outdoor pools were open. Lifeguard attended, they were friendly. We stayed for 4 nights, didn't have any issues and were not hassled by anyone. The shuttle service is convenient, and the drivers are very personable. We even managed to catch a few fish. read more

This review is not about Wilderness on the Lake but the DOA Attraction located on its property. I cannot comment on the DOA room experience but I CAN and WILL comment on business dealings with the owners of this place: Wow! Kristin Mellon and John Bennett. Their actions speak volumes of their character. Long story short: I booked a room for my family and then my niece and Mom became hospitalized. At that point I was willing to reschedule when everyone was out of the hospital. My mom, unfortunately DIED. I'm not sure how many people would be able to celebrate after such a tragic loss-I know I was not and don't know when I will be able to. Groupon understood the circumstances and refunded the amount of the voucher I paid for. DOA Room Escape however WOULD NOT refund the convenience fees of $48 I was charged for even though **I no longer had a voucher for this business**. This is unscrupulous business practice on their part (not to mention heartless) There is no phone to actually speak to someone there, everything is via email. That should have been my fist clue not to do business with such a company! Our family went here last summer and it was amazing. We stayed for two nights and three days and the amount of activities and options included in the reasonable price was pretty substantial. My daughter loved all the options for water slides and there was something there for EVERY age group... including me and my wife. The staff was professional and friendly and the food and bar choices were seemingly endless. The location is also pretty convenient as it is close to many restaurants and outside activities which was nice to have available to us, however we mainly stayed on the premises. I really liked the way the hotels and parks were all connected. The rooms were extremely clean and quiet and I can't wait to book another trip to the Wilderness! read more

This is your best for a place to stay while at the Wilderness Golf Resort. The Wilderness on the Lake is the quiet often overlooked part of the resort. I love the feeling of being away from the main resort as it offers a much more enjoyable experience. We stayed in the 1,581 square foot 2 bedroom condo. The condo featured a living room, full kitchen, dining area, sun room with fireplace and whirlpool, and 2 bedrooms. Master bedroom had a king bed and 2nd bedroom had two queen beds. Almost all the units offered a fantastic view of the lake itself. We stayed in #305 and enjoyed the views of the frozen lake. EXCEEDED ALL MY EXPECTATIONS!!!! We rented a 2 bedroom condo and this place was a "WOW" from the moment we drove into the property! This place has amazing view of the property, is very quiet(even at night if you have small children that go to bed early which we do) and is super relaxing! This place was JUST what my family and I needed! GREAT for kids! Cubby Cove waterpark inside of this resort is GREAT!!! Pros: Comes with grilling tools&wine opener(even though reservations said that it did not) Has gas grill on deck (no charcoal/lighter fluid necessary) Has a great coffee maker! Cons: No hand soap (have to bring your own) Not alot of hangers (can easily request more from the front desk) No ice bucket (need to request from front desk) Tips: Don't forget Pam spray and salt&pepper shakers if you an on cooking Don't forget tide&bounce for the washer/dryer We will DEFINITELY be going back later this summer so that we can take advantage of all the outdoor pools, waterparks and activities! We love going to Wilderness on the Lake! We've gone three times so far & have always stayed in the 2 bedroom condo. The fall/winter prices are great. The front desk staff are usually helpful & it's nice to take a shuttle to the other waterparks. The only issue I had was that when I made the reservation, I asked for a room with a patio and grill. I bought meat to cook for dinner but the grill wouldn't light. I called the front desk & was told to try another one nearby. Still no luck so I ordered pizza. I asked a different worker in the morning & was told the only grills that worked were on the other side of the building...it wasn't a huge issue & we had a great visit. Just make sure you ask for a grill that hasn't been winterized if you're planning to cook out. :) read more

EXCEED MY EXPECTATIONS! This is a place where its a relaxing zen feel to it. It is apart of the Wilderness Resort & Golf but it feels like a totally different place. There are shuttles that take you to and from the resort or you can take a boat to this place as well. The pool is amazing, it looks like it flows into the river. Stayed here for my kid's 2 year old birthday party. The rooms are very nice. I love the split floor plan and the hot tub. The garbage disposal did not work in our room which was kinda disappointing (otherwise I would have gone with 5 stars). For the last few years, my husband and I, along with a group of friends, have come here to celebrate his and another friend's birthday. Overall, we have always had a pleasant experience. The condos are clean and the staff is pleasant. Options for accommodations are the 2 bedroom lake condo. 3 bedroom lake condo, or the 3 bedroom lake condo with a loft. All of the condos feature a living room, a full kitchen, a sun room with fireplace and a whirlpool, and a dining area. One of the things that I like about the Wilderness is that the waterparks are for guests only. No day passes are sold to non-guests. The Wilderness has 5 indoor and 5 outdoor waterparks to enjoy. They also have numerous other activities to do. Among them: lazer tag, go-carts, painting your own pottery, and an arcade. One feature that was recently added was a large swim-up bar. It is located in the Wild Water Dome. You can also rent a cabana in some of the waterparks. Our group did that this year, and we loved it! We rented one in the Wild Water Dome. The cabana features a television, a bar, and chairs and a sofa for seating. You also get VIP service from the cabana staff and wireless internet. I think it's safe to say that we will continue to make Wilderness on the Lake our go-to place for our annual winter getaway. read more

My first time at WOTL was good overall. It's certainly a different type of stay than staying at the hotel or Glacier Canyon as I have in the past. It's much quieter and the place appears a little more dated. We had a large group and rented back to back two bedroom + lofts. The sizing of each individual unit is pretty good. A decent common area, two large bedrooms, and a pretty spacious loft area. The patio with Jacuzzi adds to the square footage as there is a fireplace, TV, and additional chairs out there. The water park on premises is perfect for kids. Sight lines are good for following them around and there isn't a lot of people there. The area also has a pool and an indoor/outdoor hot tub so everyone won't be too bored there. Overall, a really nice, quiet property just about a mile from the main complex. I think that was it's intention and it's nice to have that option. read more

This is our fourth time staying at the wilderness, but first time on the lake. First, we arrived in the lobby to check in and walked right up to the desk! No waiting in a huge line at the main hotel. This was the biggest perk of this resort. We had the two bedroom condo, and overall it was very nice. Very clean, and fit our family of 6 very well. The bed was very u comfortable, and broken so that it made a huge clink every time you moved. Also, they have the thermostat locked so that it won't go lower than 68. However, 68 was at least 72 in the bedroom, and was not comfortable for sleeping at all. For some reason the balcony area had a separate thermostat that went to 65, and it was much better in their. It's a little longer ride via shuttle, and you will find you have to wait longer for a blue shuttle when returning from the parks. However, all in all it was nice, and much less congested than the main hotel area. read more

I was completely estatic about mine and my family's trip to The Wilderness on the Lake but the 1st night in we were planning on taking our longboards outside and around the dells as active youths should. But 3 feet out of the elevator we were screamed st by some old man behind the desk at night. He told us we were going to be killed and arrested if we were to go outisde on the longboards. THE AMOUNT OF DISRESPECT AND RUDE HARSH WORDS THAT HE SAID TO ME AND MY OF AGE FAMILY WILL MAKE ME NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! The next night I asked for more pillows for me and my beautiful wife and my loving kids to make a fort! The front desk didnt help me out right away she was sitting on her phone all night from the time we got back at 9pm-2am. She looked at me and said No with a dirty dirty look. So i asked a maintenance worker who was off clock and he was more willing to help and more courteous then any encounter with a worker that I had for the 3-4 nights i was staying! I would recommend to anyone staying that you MUST come with more pillows and not to even leave your room after 9 unless you want to spend 30 minutes writing a review like this. because thats what good people do! Stayed overnight at the Wilderness on the Lake and was satisfied, overall. The room was beautiful and included two fireplaces and a hot tub, tons of space, and a beautiful view of the lake. I arrived around 7pm on Friday night - By the time I got settled, I thought it would be fun to go to the indoor pool around 9-930pm to relax (the friends I stayed with wanted to go to bed early so the hot tub in the room was not my first thought) - My reason being that there would be less families with small children at this time, therefore less crowded. Unfortunately for me, the pool closes at 10pm. An "adult swim" from 10pm to midnight would have been a nice option, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. Also, i ordered breakfast from the little cafe / convenience shop and it took 20 minutes to heat up a frozen hash brown and serve already-cooked bacon... huh. read more

We rented a condo for 5 days last summer and literally had water dripping from the chandelier and sparking. We called the front desk and the manager (i think her name was Bethany) was completely rude and offered no help even though clearly, when the water is causing the chandelier to spark its a safety hazard. She told us she can have someone come clean up the water.... Yet it continued to drip down the chandelier. She was always conveniently inaccessible when I would call or come in. When I would finally get to talk to her she got loud and inappropriate with me and j dont appreciate being yelled at. This was our 2nd stay within a 2 month period... Needless to say I will be taking my family and my business elsewhere where we are not treat with disrespect. read more

Came to the Wilderness on the Lake and it was amazing. Great view of the lake from the outdoor hot tub. Also did the escape room there. Our game master Nate was extremely nice and super helpful. Highly recommend. read more

I have been going to Wilderness on the Lake for many years now and every year I LOVE LOVE LOVE it! The 2 bdrm condo is a great deal during the winter months. I like the toddler waterpark in the hotel also. Free shuttle van ride to the other indoor waterparks within the resort. And the jacuzzi is the BEST! read more

My family Loved this place. The room was so very nice. Many closets and spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. A great view. Minors complaints would be: That the front desk people didn't seem all that friendly. And the prices in the gift shop for basics was a bit high. The water park in this building needed a few repairs as well. But we mostly went to the bigger water parks and had a blast! read more

Very disappointed in the hotel, thinking upper class resort but not even close. Not all the rooms they promise have lake views. We were first put in a room with trees covering the lake at the very end of resort; we called to complain and they moved us. Staff is very non friendly, half the time they don't understand what you are saying. People stay up all hours drinking outside making it difficult to sleep. The main issue we had is most of the people using the resort do not have wrist bands, so why are we paying and they aren't. The manager on duty said it's hard to have security enforce it. It's such a shame because this resort has potential, but they need to get some rules and good management in order. read more

This place should be called "Best Time Ever" on the lake! My family went as a group for 5 cars deep for the 4th of July this year. We got two 2 bedroom villas with the loft adjacent to each other and we had such a great time. The rooms were spacious and the views were lovely, with a large Jacuzzi overlooking the lake. Their were two fireplaces in each villa and fully stocked kitchen. Outside, there is a cute little beach, a large grilling area, a water park within the hotel and an amazing Infinity pool outside. To get to the other water parks you had to take the water taxi. The water taxi was a cool plus! I am a city girl and I do not get on boats very often so it was a nice surprise to be shuttled from water park to water park, allowing us to just relax and enjoy the breeze and beautiful scenery along the way. They also have a free Water Taxi Tour of the Dells, just reserve a time with the front desk. You get a 30 minute tour and I highly recommend doing it. It is free but the captains are funny and give you a brief history of the architecture and the resort itself so DO tip your captain. Their were only 2 negatives to this place. The first one being that I had to jump in the pool with my clothes on and my phone in my pocket because my sons life vest came off and the "lifeguard"on duty was not paying attention. Thank God I was watching my child but it only takes a minute for a parent to turn around and their child to drown. The lifeguard girl came running over apologizing a million times but I was fuming. Also, the drinks are very weak and their is only 1 small elevator for the entire giant hotel. We were in the villas on the top level and had to walk up and down the stairs with all the children many times during our stay due to how long the elevator line was. All in all my family had a great time so I would definitely return and refer family and friends. read more
