They miss the delivery of the paper more often than they actually deliver it. "We're sorry...we're sorry," they say on customer service. No you aren't sorry. If you were sorry you would fix it. Say what you will about daily print newspapers, local news, op-eds, etc. Some of us still have a taste for what a local paper - in its print version - offers. But the customer service at this paper is so deplorable as to make me want, on that basis alone, to discontinue my subscription. Try to get a customer service rep that can help - highly unlikely. They'll send you to a supervisor, which really means an endless of HOLD of repetitive piano music. They act as though they really want to be extinguished - their likely future anyway, so maybe there is an internal plan to hasten the end. read more

The Pioneer Press customer service department is a disaster. They have owed me money for over a month now for a subscription I cancelled in early June after which they kept billing me. Emails to them have proved fruitless in my quest to get the money they took from my account for the cancelled subscription. I even contacted the Better Business Bureau to which the PP replied "We will look into this ASAP." Well, ASAP to them must mean "whenever we feel like it" as there has been no action on this at all. They have an average rating of 1-star in the 58 reviews on the BBB website and there have been 222 complaints lodged against the Pioneer Press. Almost all are concerning the same problem I am having or worse. Many complaints are new subscriptions who say they keep getting billed but are receiving no newspapers. Then the Pioneer Press has the gall to send these subscribers to the collection department. It seems the wheels have come off this company. Subscribe at your own risk! read more

I am very disappointed with the delivery of my Pioneer Press newspaper. I signed up for Thursday and Sunday delivered to my home which was to begin in January. I have had nothing but problems. Many times it does not get delivered. I have to call so they don't charge me. Last Sunday was Mother's Day and when my paper did not come by 11:00, I called and it was too late to have one delivered. Today I called when my paper was not here at 0900. I was assured they would have one delivered to me today. It is 5:50pm and it hasn't arrived. I will be cancelling my subscription tomorrow. My mom recently received a billing statement from the Twin Cities Pioneer Press asking her to pay $26.00 for a subscription that she never signed up for. I was very confused because neither my mom or my family read newspapers and we have never even heard of this business before. At the end of the day, I had to make many calls because apparently their customer service line was "busy." If this happens to y'all, make sure to call their customer service phone number and email them just in case because this is a very shady way of targeting marginalized communities who do not speak English well! read more

My wife subscribed to the Pioneer Press on a trial six-month basis. Delivery was problematic, and at the end of that time we canceled, but they kept delivering the paper. We complained several times, and finally they stopped, but they had the gall to send us a $3.69 invoice for the unwanted papers. We have called and written several times, but continue to receive their invoice. Their customer service people always apologize and promise to write off the account, but we continue to receive their invoice. $3.69... What a silly company! I accepted a Thursday and Sunday one year deal over a year ago and received bar none the worst delivery and customer service I had ever experienced from a company of any kind. A month ago the newspaper called me and offered a similar deal assuring me that customer delivery problems would be resolved, that my paper would be delivered to the porch and that should I have any problems they would immediately escalate to management. These were bald faced lies. In one months time despite many calls and emails and no management follow through I got ONE...just ONE newspaper total delivered many days late to the end of driveway not porch. The price for a Sunday paper in St Paul is $1.50 if you pick it up. Just paid my 12 week home delivery subscription and it was $41.88, or $3.49 for the same $1.50 paper. I took an offer from Pioneer Press in May for a 1 year delivery of the Thursday & Sunday at 0.27 cents per week. After 6 months they are sending me renewal notices! During the six months I have never received the Thursday paper. I called them about the issue a month in or so and was offered to add on Wednesday paper as well and that somehow might start getting the Thursday delivery by adding Wednesday- I questioned how that could possibly help, I think that is where the deal was broken, but no charge was mentioned.. and 6 months later never has any weekday paper even been delivered, I have been receiving the Sunday paper weekly. I called a few weeks ago about the broken offer and was told by customer service to disregard the notice and the deal would be started over- I doubted that too and now still receiving renewal notices months before the initial deal ends. I have been a subscriber of the Pioneer Press on and off for many years. EVERY time I subscribe I go through the same painful experience. I sign up, opt out of all their special editions and it comes close to the end of my subscription and I get a notice in the mail that I am only paid up through a date way before my actual date of what I paid through. EVERY time. Then it is call customer service time, and every customer service person tells you something different. One told me she would extend it as a courtesy, even though I was wrong and she did not see I opted out. She would adjust my account and it would reflect on my statement. I knew that would get messed up AGAIN. Then I get another statement with another date before my subscription ends. I called that one. I call again. Another customer service agent, "just wasn't sure", but a supervisor would call me in 24 hours. Yeah right! Of course I did not hear from a supervisor. I asked the customer service representative if I could speak to a supervisor and she told me that the "supervisors do not reply to them." What? Supervisors do not reply to their own representatives? Why do they need supervisors? So I called again, third time because of course I did not hear from a supervisor, and got another customer service representative on the phone and this time I was told that the Pioneer Press had a rate increase so my subscription was shortened. WOW! Great service. I am now exhausted fighting with Pioneer Press and their representatives, so I canceled my paper, getting ripped off of two weeks. I have finally learned to NEVER subscribe to the Pioneer Press again. The representative asked me if there was a reason why I wanted to cancel my subscription. Ummmm Stupid question. Their competitor has it much more together than the Pioneer Press, I never have had to fight a statement, when I opt out of special editions, I am opted out, and their customer service representatives are much more friendly and knowledgeable. read more

would give no stars if i could. as with other review i have read, on going issues. when you call and communicate with them, they tell you one thing and do something completely else. they are masters at fraud. paper was to continue to a certain date, which they told me on the phone. i cancelled the paper to be effective 9/14/21 and was paid through 9/13/21. Never received the paper. for quite a few years now if have opted out of their so called special issues. They have never honored that request, as far as they don't deliver these so called special issues, but have always deducted the $6.00 charge for each, leaving my subscription short every time. Every time i call with each automatic payment, reaffirming that i am opting out of these issues. But they continue to short my subscription. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE, rude staff when you call, because they are argumentive with the problems you bring up. Hard to really review the paper itself when it literally does not get delivered 75% of the time. Call requests for re-delivery go unattended. The carriers in the 55076 area are probably the worst and inconsistent possible. I understand the Presses desperation to get it's paper delivered but when it doesn't show up and customer service does not take action against the carriers that represent them there is no option but to continue to NOT read the Pioneer Press. Very shady business practices. I received notice that I had past due payments after they stopped my subscription. I finally had a conscience and sent in the late payment and noted final payment. What does pioneer do? They start sending me the paper again when I didn't want it and now I get a bill for $51 when I DO NOT WANT THE PAPER. I've had similar experiences with pioneer in the past. They are very shady and rely on Minnesota nice people to just keep shelling out coin when they don't want to anymore. read more

I would give zero stars if I could; these people do not care about their paying costumers. After 3 weeks of delivery, they suddenly stopped delivering. I contacted customer service after 2 weeks of not receiving my papers. I got a response on the same day, then I didn't get another response until a week! I had asked for a refund, and the first time I told Taylor Toothman I wasn't receiving my papers, he/she did not even acknowledge or apologize for the terrible service. It took 3 more emails and me repeating myself before he apologized and said he will contact the carrier to find out what happened. That was 3 days before my next delivery. Thursday comes, still nothing! And I had asked for a refund twice and it's like he/she is playing blind because he/she has refused to acknowledge that I want a refund. I don't care if it's only a few dollars, I will not give my money to people like these. if you are looking for the perfect plan for the WORST customer service in history this is the perfect model for you. If you try the paper and stop they will keep delivering and bill you. If you call you will be put into a hold and hung up on time after time, usually 11 minutes into the call. If you call to cancel they will have NO record of it. If you have auto pay and all and cancel they will keep delivering and bill you. it is IMPOSSIBLE to cancel the paper. You may not even get the paper, but rest assured you will get the bill. This company has dug its own grave, you cannot succeed being this bad. read more

I will never get a paper delivered again. I had the worst experience I have ever received in my life. Horrible customer service where I would be hung up on because apparently their phones were not working properly. I would be on hold for more than an hour. I had inconsistent deliveries. I finally was told I would receive a refund which I have yet to receive. I have been dealing with these people for over two months and zero refund. I keep getting the run around and empty promises. I was told the refund was put in my account but I have nothing to show for it. No wonder newspapers are becoming obsolete. Have had paper delivered for 20 or more years - cancelled it 9 months ago due to it is always late or never comes we always have to call and ask where it is. All they say is that they will credit the account. We just restarted our delivery from a groupon we had purchased . This is our 2nd week and it's almost 0930 and the paper is not here!
