I went into it knowing almost nothing about handguns (a little about rifles, very little) and left with the comfort of understanding how they work. I can easily walk into a range now and try out different guns without fear or confusion. THESE COURSES NRA CERTIFIED (at least all the levels 1&2). It does say that on the website, but I don't think it's very obvious.. We left with an official NRA instruction book, certificate, patch (yes, like girl- or boy-scouts), and several other pamphlets. We also shot about 25 rounds which is not required for the NRA courses, but as our instructor pointed out, it is much different to try it with real bullets than with blanks and fake-practicing. Well worth it, even on a cold January day. Tedd, the owner and instructor, is a vet with tons of experience. He is direct, helpful, and is not afraid to offer his opinions.. which are interesting to hear. He was patient with an older couple that never touched their gun (but owned it for two years??) and offered tricks and tips for maneuvering switches for my friend because our hands aren't really strong (especially the de-cocker and the slide lock **keywords I learned!) So, if you're unsure, don't know a thing, want revenge on the politicians trying to take away our rights, or simply curious - this is the place to start! I think everyone should take at least the H-1 course before they can say a THING about guns. It really changes your perception when you're in control. Don't be afraid, get educated! ... I'll update after H-2 in March but I imagine it'll be even better and more fun than H-1!

We used the passes to put together a very affordable birthday party for him with friends as walk-ons. I think all the kids are now hooked. The staff is really enthusiastic and extremely focused on SAFETY (which makes my mom heart happy) and experience. All day, they were making sure they were having a fun time. The community of players is exceptional. My son often goes alone as a walk on and is always included and bonding. Today, the kids had a rough run in one instance and got out pretty quickly. After, their adult opponents coached them on how to do better next time. The food at the Bunker is actually really delicious! It takes a bit to order when it's lunch time but you can play while waiting. The kids liked the break though. I loved my chicken totchos. They also had things like tenders, rice bowls, sandwiches, burgers etc.

The laser tag guns are so much more advanced than laser tag of my childhood but the cues from the gun about ammo, reloading, shots taken, and dying were all super clear. Their course was a ton of fun and we were running around like crazy. The hour blew by. We want to come back again in the spring to do it all again!

I…read moretook six kids there this Saturday, and it was completely painless to check them all in, and get their rental packages set up. It was absurdly easy, and took maybe 5 minutes total. The kids played ALL day and had an absolute blast. Paint wasn't cheap, but that's to be expected. Rental + 500 rounds was $50. In theory, 500 rounds should have lasted a few hours, but these kids hadn't played paintball before, so they were paint firehoses. Altogether we bought 8,000 rounds for 6 kids for 9am-4pm, which came to $272. We probably should have only needed about half of that, but kids will be kids. I think the standard math is 150 balls per hour in woodsball. 150*7=1,050. They got 500 with the rental. So we should have only needed about 4,000. Just know it can get really expensive, if you're not careful. Also, you have to pay attention to the hours. It says they open at 8am, but games don't start at 8am. They don't start until 9am. It's marked on their website, but easy to miss. I felt like it was (or could have been, anyway) a pretty good value, and the kids loved it.

It's an OK course but I would not recommend playing here within a few days after a rain. Many of the green areas have large wet areas where your ball will sink and be lost never to be seen again. The tee boxes have cheap looking little colored baskets for markers. The out of bounds can be severe because of many rocks and roots along the tree line. I scored two birdies on two different par 4's which was first for me.

Dug-outs are well maintained, there are batting cages for practice and ball containment, plus it shares the same space with the Bedford Village Pool and a playground for any younger siblings. There is a set of bleachers behind home plate as well as a snack shack that may or may not be open during games. The only thing is, being in a more wooded area, the mosquitoes can be worse here, so bring bug spray!

We wandered through the elaborate taxidermy and reptile room, ventured up to the top floor viewing deck, and then the small, yet amazing, raptor exhibit. We came in winter, just after Christmas, so maybe the animals hadn't seen many people in the last few days, but they were all alert, moving around and making noise. The barred owls clicked and blinked away, the barn owl poked its head out at us, the red tailed hawk fluffed it's feathers and the bald eagle screeched hello. So cool!

I want all the other seniors like me out there to know that NHA is using our donations to fund special interest groups that have little to nothing to do with our wildlife. After many, many years of birding and contributing to NHA with my dearly departed wife, I can only assume that nature doesn't need our help. Why else would NHA be deviating from their mission to support controversial social issues? It really burns me that you took my picture without my review and let them post it as a positive on their page, where my intent was quite opposite. Let's see if they post this along with the pic- a lie. Beware of donating to NHA! Find out where your money is going before you donate! Great to know the environment in our state doesn't need any more help. Sad that we are being misled into thinking we are contributing to nature. Great that NHA has enough money to fund these groups (most of which are doing quite well on their own, thank you) and won't miss my- let's see-a little over $240 to date this year. Never again. The saddest part is I now have to vet my contributions to other charities (mostly animal and environmental) to find out what they are doing with my money. A sad state of affairs.
