If you love, someone do not put them in Pioneer Village Senior Living in Jacksonville, Oregon. I am a disabled firefighter with a rare muscle disease and lived in the assisted living section for several months at the end of 2024 and at the beginning of 2025. Don't expect the amenities that are promised to you during your initial tour to be the ones that you will receive once they have your money and you have moved in. I was so disappointed that I immediately had to begin looking for a new place to move that would have the amenities required to stay as healthy as possible, while dealing with my disabilities. The Radiant Company Out of Portland Oregon are the owners of this facility.I believe they also own several other similar facilities, in the state they just go by a different names at their other location. My father is an active 98-year old and has been a resident at Pioneer Village for over four years. During that time, we have been consistently disappointed in the level of service and attitude toward residents. Both Pioneer Village and Radiant Senior Living (the owner) advertise a commitment to creating and sustaining a comfortable, caring environment with great food, life-enriching activities, and reliable, courteous service. What we have observed is a commitment to cutting costs and using a poorly trained staff. We have frequently been told that operating procedures, menus, and management decisions are made at corporate headquarters in Portland. Our family member moved in just before Covid hit and the staff, food (especially), resources, etc., have gone down hill since our first visit. For years my loved one had their eye on Pioneer Village and when it was time to move into independent living we were all quite excited. We have not felt that excitement since. They got moved in, Covid hit, and Pioneer Village had every excuse in the book for the decline of services. Yet, the loved ones have continued to pay their rent and 2022 starts with a rent increase. We have written letters, complained verbally, and wait patiently for the lack of services to change. They don't even respond. Our Mom was a resident of Pioneer Village assisted living for almost three years prior to her passing away. The management and staff are wonderful, very compassionate and caring. Dora the Executive Director is amazing. Anytime we had any concern, Dora would handle the issue immediately. She has truly been very sweet to Mom. Nita the resident care coordinator is very competent and because she has worked as a med-tech and as a caregiver, she also is very kind to the residents and their families. Liz the facility's RN would often drop in to see Mom and Mom really enjoyed interacting with her. I can't say enough good things about the med-techs, caregivers, the dining room servers and the other kitchen staff. Everyone was so respectful and nice to Mom. Mom had some special dietary needs for the past couple of months, which the kitchen accommodated. Some of the servers and caregivers would sit with Mom and keep her company at mealtime as their workload allowed. They would help her order meals and they learned the foods she liked (and what she didn't like). The caregivers and other staff were also great to Mom's small dog. Mom didn't get involved in many of the activities. However, she loved the events that featured music, which were scheduled once or twice every week. Mom also loved all the decorations for the various holidays and the special family dinners, brunches and BBQs that were held. Kudos to the activities staff and the facility maintenance personnel. The reception staff are also very pleasant and helpful. It is a Radiant Day at Pioneer Village! Seems like I heard that a million times when I called to check in on Mom. A final thought: I don't wish to mislead anyone, that issues didn't occasionally arise, but the management and staff were definitely worked to resolve any problem. It gave me peace to know that Mom lived where people cared for her and would look out for her best interests, Many thanks to everyone for taking such good care of Mom and for the kindness shown to our entire family. read more

I advise people to not become a resident of this senior living facility. Currently it is mismanaged and there are a number of residents who have reported abusive occurrences from management and support staff. These abuses are primarily in the form of verbal outbursts of a negative nature. There is a pattern of disrespectful and unsupportive communication from support staff. There is a history of unresponsive ness by the director to complaints from residents and/or resident's families. Management will not return phone calls or emails. The ownership by Radiant Senior Living has done nothing to correct the problems that have been reported to them. It appears that this is a profit- driven operation that lacks concern for providing good service and quality meals for residents paying generous market rates in monthly rent. There is documentation of poor food quality being delivered to residents apartments and cottages as well as some residents needing to assist with food service in the communal dining room. Residents have been chided and shamed into conforming to unreasonable, insensitive and unwritten facility policy set by the current management. Please look elsewhere when searching for senior living in the Rogue Valley. Residents report enjoying the company of a very cohesive community of other senior age people. They provide emotional care and practical support whenever they can for one another. Collectively, they are very upset with the current management, and they see no end in sight as their concerns are not addressed in any way by corporate officers or facility staff. Some residents report feeling fearful and trapped -- definitely not what they anticipated in signing their lease agreements. The facility looks nice and is located in a bucolic town near all necessary services for seniors. Do not be fooled by the pretty exterior. I'm writing this review, which I posted at another site as well, because I realized that there were no Yelp reviews on Pioneer Village. I realize that this sounds totally like an advertisement, but I really do like the place a lot (as the daughter of a resident) and my mind is at ease about the place because I feel like I've thoroughly checked it out, and my mom seems really happy. I've visited Pioneer Village twice, once as a drop in visit unannounced to check it out, and once for a week after my mother had moved in. She lives in one of the cottages on the main property, which is independent living. For the record, my mom is independent and doesn't require any skilled nursing or assistance, and is completely capable at managing her life on her own, so this review is based on those services. She found this facility while touring Oregon, and liked it so much that she sold her house and moved in. She was tired of taking care of a big house that needed work, and wanted to move somewhere like Jacksonville. On my first visit, I arrived without my mother, and unexpectedly. I wanted to check out the place without them expecting me, so I dropped in. We were warmly greeted and my partner and I were taken on a thorough tour of the property, and got to see her intended unit. Nancy answered my many questions patiently, and I was able to observe the monthly new resident meeting where many of the residents were gathered. I chatted with a number of them, asked how they liked it, and was incredibly impressed with the response. All that I spoke with talked about how much the liked it, and how nice the staff were. I found that to be true during my first visit. Everyone was super nice, and I was well treated, even though I'm young looking and have pink hair! A couple months passed before I made it back to Oregon to visit my mother over Christmas. I expected things like meals and activities to be a bit slower due to the holiday, but there were events including Christmas piano and singing and two delicious holiday dinners (Christmas Eve and Day). The wait staff in the dining room was very kind to the residents and, with only one exception, they were willing to get almost anything that was requested. The only problem I encountered during my week long visit happened one night when we arrived to the dining room a few minutes before closing. My mother had read in the guidebook to Pioneer Village that she could arrive for dinner until a certain time. Well, my mother, aunt and I got there one night at that time and were turned away by one of the servers. Honestly, that seemed ridiculous to me because a) we were not past closing time and b) the staff are there to serve the residents their meals, and I was concerned what would happen if someone tended to run late. Honestly, they should have at least provided her with a boxed dinner, because many of the residents don't drive and can't just dash out for a quick meal. I attributed this experience to the inexperience of the server who turned us away, and I'm sure if we'd asked to speak with the chef, we'd have found a way to sort it out. Instead we went out to dinner in the town nearby, and it was lovely. There are plenty of activities, my mom goes on all of them, and says they are great. The staff is friendly and she really enjoys it there. I'm impressed by their willingness to take care of things around the unit, and it seems clean and well maintained. Overall, I couldn't be happier. Mostly, I'm thankful that my mom signed herself up to move somewhere safe where she isn't constantly battling home-ownership problems. To be truthful, I overheard/talked to a few of the residents saying they were unhappy because they felt like their children had forced them to give up their homes. They liked Pioneer Village just fine, but they were unhappy that they hadn't chosen to move there on their own. Luckily, in my family's situation, Mom's happy and so am I! My elderly parents, both with dementia, lived alone in a three-story home in Jacksonville Oregon. My mother fell down the stairs and fractured her pelvis and consequently was admitted to the hospital for five weeks. My father was unable to care for himself at home alone and my sister and I realized we needed to find a safe place for them to live before moving them down to Southern California where they'd be closer to family and have much more support. Pioneer Village was a perfect place for them to be during this transition. The staff there is very knowledgeable about geriatric issues. All the staff got to know my parents as individuals, the dining room staff all learn their names and their food preferences. The facility is clean and well managed and they safely cared for my parents until we were able to move them down south closer to family. Most of the staff is great here but a big turn-over, the place is micro managed by people who have driven this place into the ground. Bankruptcy has been filed. Investors can not get out. People who bought in and lived there are still waiting for their return of monies. Their monies were spent and not kept in a account to hold. Many families including us have pulled our parent out of there. This place worked for some time without a reg. nurse. Too many things have gone wrong there, but they do keep up the BS and tap dancing around too many things that should make you re-think and check into this place further before making any choices. read more
