When I was researching for our trip, I noticed they offer a private soak option, so I went ahead and booked this experience for us. 2 hour session on a Wednesday for $175. Not bad when you get the entire place to yourself. They have changing rooms and the bathrooms are porta potties. It was super clean. The hot springs were super hot and the water they spray in one section of the pool allows you an opportunity to cool off. They also had umbrellas set up around the perimeter to block the sun. I'm glad it was slightly cooler today from a rain storm as it ended up being the perfect day! We also ordered some food while we were here. I got the smoked trout which came with a delicious salad, all made fresh from their onsite garden. My kids got the pickle pizza, which they let me try and that was devoured! Demi took excellent care of us! I'd definitely come back here! They also offer live music in the evenings. There was music playing while we were here and it was a nice addition. The kitchen clearly takes pride in what they send out, and it shows. That's why it's such a shame the service side didn't live up to the same standard. Service was noticeably lacking from start to finish. Our table wasn't given cutlery, and no one came back to offer water or drink refills. We had to keep looking around for help, but staff were largely gathered together talking instead of checking on guests. The seating area was uncomfortably cold due to an overhead door being left open. When we politely asked if it could be closed, we were told others wanted it open -- even though there were only two other people nearby. It felt more like a staff preference than a guest-comfort decision. What stood out most was that we felt like an inconvenience rather than welcomed customers. It's nice to hear staff enjoying their day, but when five or six employees are standing around chatting while tables go unattended, it sends the wrong message. With service that matched the quality of the food, this restaurant could be a real standout. I hope management tightens up the floor service -- the kitchen deserves that support.

One bar staff took orders from the family with the baby-- didn't notice lack of diaper or didn't care. I went to the front desk to report it-- the young staffer said there wasn't a manager on site. More concerns: there was a thunder clap, and it took about two minutes after the thunder for staff to tell patrons to get out of the pools (which are all outside). According to one app, the lightning had struck 2 miles away-- which to me, is pretty close. The steam room smells moldy/stale. One patron was spritzing the air with some liquid he brought with him--what the heck?! Who knows what was in it, and too bad it didn't mask the mold smell. The dry sauna was very hot, but wish it had more of the cedar smell that makes them much more pleasant to sit in. Kudos for having a very hot steam room. The pools are NOT very warm. They are comfortably but barely warm. The commercial hot springs in White Sulfur Springs are much warmer. Broadwater Hot Springs isn't a pretty setting-- traffic and houses are visible from the pool, so we must be visible to them. They try with some plantings and flowers, but it's not enough. They pipe in music, which IMO doesn't add anything but noise, but at least it wasn't too loud. There aren't supposed to be children under six years old in the pools-- aside from the baby, there was a child who looked about 4-5 years old. And there aren't supposed to be floaty devices in the pool, but there were-- at least the too-young child wasn't going to drown. In the locker room, with its very slick floors, the non-slip mats are not butted up against each other, so there's a higher risk of slipping. For $2, one can rent a thin, small towel. It is not long enough to fully wrap around anyone who is size 14 or larger. It is not wide enough to cover a tall-ish (5' 7") woman from chest to groin. It's a cheap towel like one would find in a cheap motel, and to charge $2 to rent it is money-grabby. For what you get, even 50 cents is too much. Better and bigger towels please-- and charge a $10 deposit if you're worried people will steal them. And how about charging a fair price for an item that can be re-rented hundreds of times? Costco has a great and affordable selection. Bring a lock if you can-- otherwise a $2 fee for a basic locker lock. $50 for two adults (entry, two inadequate towels, one lock rental), off-smelling stream room, warmish water, and an un-diapered baby-- sorry I bothered with Broadwater Hot Springs.

I was weary based on 3.5 stars but so for real right now it's $28 for non MN residents and you get multiple pools of different tenpatures, a cold plunge, a sauna, a steam room with cold and hot showers inside and included you get towels and a locker. I mean everything is so clean everyone was nice my stuff felt safe when I had some of it on a chair. There were kids they were playing I think having one adult only pool would make sense but that's not enough for me to take a star away! All the kids were respectful and their parents were attentive! Definitely will be back if we're ever in the area

We were there over July 4th holiday and had the place mostly to ourselves. The resort and surrounding area oozes with history but other than the posted newspaper clippings and short printout there isnt much interp to learn from. I was disappointed to find zero history on the native use of the area. There was only brief accounts of the several white owners. The multiple owners probably also accounts for the mash up of styles that clash to the point of confusion in the main lobby. The creepy poker playing mannequins in the corner were a little unsettling. We got good hour long massages from a therapist out of Butte. The breakfast was delicious. Better than expected as I am always skeptical of someone else's cooking. There is a no alcohol and no smoking policy, kind of a drag but probably necessary given the proximity to Butte. We just kept it DL by fixing highballs in tumblers and had no problems. Bathers are required to wear swimsuits and there are separate indoor tubs for men and women. The current owners seem to like the yin vibe and may be a little too "kind sister hippyish" for some people's taste but everyone we met was exceedingly welcoming. Definitely worth a visit.

The yurt was clean and cozy and centrally located to lots of trail options. It was well-stocked with water, plenty of firewood, dishes, games, etc. The only drawback was the number of things we were expected do upon departing, considering the $95 daily rate. There was a list of chores, including sweep, clean the counters, empty the drain bucket under the sink, return the 5-gallon water jug provided, bring the garbage and any recyclables to the lodge, and strip the beds and also return the linens and towels to the lodge. We've stayed in a lot of USFS cabins and are used to leaving everything as we found it. Granted, those cabins are far more rustic, but they are also $20-$40/night. A $95/night rate is pretty pricey for Montana accommodations and we felt like, for that amount, we shouldn't have been expected to do so much to ready the room for the next guests.

The people who leave one and two star reviews must have beef with the owners. That is the only explanation. Sure, they add a $20 resort fee to their daily rates, and they may surprise you with an additional charge for your kid. But even then, the rate (when compared to paying a day rate at another hot spring plus a night in a motel) it comes out even. And while staff is surly, from my experience they get that way from continually reminding people who can't follow the rules what the rules are. Again and again and again. It would be enough drive anyone crazy. Yes, there are too many kids screaming, spashing and throwing footballs and balls to their dad who is standing way too close to you for comfort. But the water feels good. The recently renovated rooms are fine. Ours had a fridge and a microwave and features well made beds, nice comforters, lots of pillows and a beautiful view out to the mountains. Do not be afraid. The Fairmont is fine.
