This place has so so much potential. The service at the bar was great from Leona and Ason. But the service at the pool was practically non existent. I ordered the chicken fried steak with onion rings and the corn nuggets. Though the meat was a bit tougher than I expected, the batter and the cream gravy were excellent. The corn nuggets were the best I've had! Sweet, with a flavor like creamed corn inside, and every piece with several whole kernels in each one. The service was good and all food was delivered quickly, even though we had a large party. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Livingston! read more

What can you truly say about this place? The decor is a throwback feel to old diner style eating. You truly have some of the nicest and attentive work staff serving you while you are there. They have a buffet on Sunday now. You can get breakfast or lunch buffet style. So far, they have changed up what they serve every Sunday. When it comes to the food, it's neither good nor bad. I really liked the coleslaw. That tasted freshly prepared. The buffet warmer definitely works and almost burned plenty of fingertips while I was there. All in all, you have an all you can eat situation on a Sunday that includes unlimited drinks and one dessert. I can not speak about the taste or quality of any of the food items on the menu. Hard to rate this place accurately. There's a lot to like here but there were also some misses. Went with 4 stars because of the service. The 3 meat plate. - Excellent ribs. Good sausage, the brisket was dry. In hindsight, stick to the ribs. They are really good. Sides were good as well. The burger was homemade and mostly good except the meat was overcooked. Onion rings were fabulous. Service was outstanding. The waitresses really hustle and they are nice. They need to do something about the flies. We visited from out of town. Could tell it was popular by the number of cars in the parking lot. My husband and I shared the cheeseburger with onion rings and chicken fried steak. The burger was good, even better with their bbq sauce. Onion rings were not good in my opinion. Very large slices of onion and the batter did not stick. The chicken fried steak portion was huge. I understand why it's priced $18.95 because of the portion size. Overall, wait time was a bit long but I could tell the food was fresh. We were excited to visit and try, but left very underwhelmed. Definitely not something we would go out of our way to have, but might stop if passing by. The meat was VERY tender! Ribs fall right off the bone and the brisket just shreds apart. This was great! Would we say they're the best ribs like many do, no...but they were soooo tender. We were a little disappointed in the fact that flies kept disturbing us the entire meal, and we were brought our ticket before even being asked or offered if we would like anything else (especially ice cream). The food is delicious! This is an honest to goodness diner! The service was great. We sat ourselves and were served right away. The food was delicious. The place smelled amazing, it was breakfast time. The woman's bathroom was worn but clean. The atmosphere is very charming with lots of antique memorabilia of yesteryear. I highly recommend this amazing diner! I will be back over and over as I am driving to Houston! This is now my favorite place! It makes me remember the delicious food and smells of my childhood. The water does not taste that great but that is probably the city water. The pancakes are huge and creamy and delicious! Their biscuits are so soft and so so delicious. It was the first thing I ate and I practically inhaled it!!!! The bacon, sausage and eggs were spectacular. The pancakes are Huge. My husband made the mistake of ordering a. Side of pancakes. I could have given him one of mine they are gigantic and wonderful. The hash browns were not that special and the gravy for the chicken fried steak was like bland glue but everything else shined. Great little diner in Livingston! Went up to visit friends and they brought us here. Was so glad we decided on this place! Was my first time. It's exactly the look you think of when you think "diner". They have an added twist of having the best Bar-B-Q around! We hadn't planned on eating bar-b-q but the ribs looked so good from other yelpers. Then we were told by, I believe the owner, that the ribs are famous, being on a TV show. So we all had to try them. My husband got a full slab to share. They were fall of the bone, perfect pork ribs! Everyone liked them. I was wanting a good burger so that's what I got. I was Not disappointed! First thing you notice is the soft brioche like bun. Sort of between a Hawaiian bread and brioche bun. Was perfect with the juicy cheesy burger. I wish I could eat more but my stomach doesn't let me. Otherwise I'd eaten the whole thing! I don't think I even ate half after having a rib. Probably for the best. Heehee. My husband was the benefactor for lunch the next day. I also ordered half onion rings/fries. Onion rings are huge, fresh and fried to perfection! I highly recommend! But the fries need help. That's the only reason I took off one star. I think a diner should have good fries. They were cold and full of grease. I was very confused as the ORs were perfect! So they need to practice perfecting those. They did make it right and brought out more onion rings. I'll update this to 5 stars if they can get the fries done right. I will give them another try sometime. I'll definitely be craving this yummy burger again. We also got corn nuggets for appetizer that were also good. They didn't have the jalapeño ones (bummer) but the regular ones were really good. I wish I'd had room for a Sunday but will make sure of it next time! They had lots of toppings to choose from. Oh, and really good sweet tea!! Perfectly sweet southern tea! We saw this place passing through on the way from Louisiana to Houston. I pulled it up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try. I absolutely LOVE the decor it looks like a 50's style diner. Plenty of places to choose from to sit and relax while you wait for your food. They were very friendly and spoke to us as son as we walked in. I love the fact that they were playing gospel music. The food was really good too and it's served in BIG portions. I'm only rating it a 4 star because in my opinion it needed a tad bit more seasoning. I also had one French fry that wasn't cooked all of the way. I would return if ever in the area. Overall this is a great find.... A hidden gem and a good atmosphere. read more
