Excellent Taste and Quality Food. This is a Must go to! For my lunch today, I ordered off of the "Specials" Chalkboard. The 'Pulled Pork on Mac and Cheese was Great! And I had the "Chicken Pablano" Soup was delicious. It had the Best Pablano Pepper Flavor I Honestly Ever had! Should be a quick service lunch spot, it is not. Food is good when it actually comes out in a timely manner, decor is to be expected for a lunch spot, and the prices are good. Waited over 45 minutes (they were not busy) for 2 burgers and 1 order of onion rings, they forgot our pie and so did we. When we went back in 5 minutes after we left they gave us crap about it until I produced the receipt, and whoever the lady behind the counter said 'well, how do I know you didn't get your pie already and you're just coming back for another slice'. I walked out immediately and will never go back. There are other much nicer lunch spots to go eat where you won't be berated over a piece of not so great pie. read more

I tried the Reuben due to other reviews and was not disappointed. The portion was large the flavor was good but the staff was struggling the day that I was there. Our waitress was very friendly and apologetic but it was taking forever to get the orders out. I did watch a monster chicken fried steak go to the next table and had a little food envy. I ordered a blackberry cobbler to go along with another desert and wound up chasing it down after a long wait.I will say they did comp it due to the wait. We were visiting a friend who lives in Livingston. She likes this place so we came. I wish I had taken her lead but I chose the egg salad sandwich, which I always do at a new restaurant when they have one. She didn't tell me until later she's had the that sandwich and didn't care for it. Like about 3/4ths of the places that serve egg salad sandwiches they don't add any seasoning (if you've read my other reviews you know this is a persistent complaint), it's just chopped up hard boiled egg. So, I didn't enjoy it, but the empanadas were delicious. The burger my wife had was dry. The pimento sandwich with broccoli salad was good. The environs is diner but well lighted and clean. One and a half hits out of three and a half might have reached three and a half stars, but since that doesn't exist it came to three. read more

Sadly, the reviews pointed me to utter disappointment. This is a very popular place. I can only figure the reason to be that fantastic eateries are rare in this part of Texas. Following are the reasons I gave a single star: When our server (Montana) finally showed up to our table, she had tbe personality of a rock. No smile and no desire to be helpful. We informed her that this was our first time at My Place. She actually winced in response. She was unwilling to answer our menu questions. She did not ascertain that our meal was complete before presenting it and when we complained about the missing items, she made excuses and blew us off. The food itself was mediocre at best. Recently went for lunch and loved everything about my experience. Ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich ahead of time for my lunch break, and I am OBSESSED. Excellent cafe that serves an excellent selection of healthy foods. You are given a menu as you are seated at a numbered table, then you travel up to the front counter to place your order, but must remember to give them your table number. The My Place Cafe recently moved to the former Texas Pepper building on highway 59. Sign on the building is correct, but the billboard near the building still says Texas Pepper (as our picture shows). read more

Kenny, the owner, was making all the food......then over time the magic disappeared. As a Fam we went to My Place yesterday and were blown away with underwhelming food. Sorry Kenny, ordered a Ruben and I got a wheat bread pastrami with "flecks" of sauerkraut; there was NO Swiss cheese. DUDE,...."quality control." I actually showed the waitress that there was next to no sauerkraut. She came back with a salad bowl that literally had a tablespoon of on sauerkraut in it. There isn't much to eat in Livingston, TX. I'm a laid back person and decided to try this establishment for a third time and boy was it final. The first two experiences orders were messed up and food was completely different both times. A high priced steak should taste like it's one of the best. This steak tasted like it visited the steak sauce factory and then was cooked and cooked and cooked some more. Ehh, not great. Well this time we ordered burgers and a roach decided to join us for the party. Yep...food came out and didn't even try it. I would not recommend that anyone try this place again. read more

I was there today with 2 others. 1 ordered BLT on toast. 1 ordered BLT on sour dough bread I ordered chicken salad on sourdough bread. After 35 mins we got our food. The sourdough sandwiches were changed to black rye bread without asking us or even telling us they were changing breads. Waitress said they changed to the rye because it was same as sourdough.Waitress took back to exchange for white bread 45 min later she brought out sandwiches. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! After I was seated it took the waitress 15 minutes to acknowledge me. After I ordered, it took another 10 minutes for her to bring my drink then 10 minutes after that my soup arrived. The taco soup was pretty good. Nice friendly establishment and very clean. Ordered the pimento cheese and salad. All very fresh (including the bread). I didn't hear of the specials or would have gone that direction - think my waitress was new. The pimiento was great - just too much on a sandwich.
