Not gonna lie, I was expecting a bit more from Steubens…read more My boyfriend and I chose this place for national fried chicken day and it was a bit of a let down. The fried chicken plate, although hefty, was mediocre. The chicken was not all that flavorful and also dry. The biscuit though with butter and jam hit the spot! My wife and I stopped into Steuben's to have a snack (donut holes) and a couple of rounds of cocktails. We used the Dining Out Passbook for BOGO cocktails with purchase of food. Our bartender (who was perfectly friendly and helpful) said he needed his manager to get the free cocktail. To be clear, we had literally no interaction with this woman at any point. So it's not like we did something to piss her off. When she arrived at the POS station - behind the bar about six feet from where we were sitting - she proceeded to complain about the "a-holes" (edited for language) using the Passbook and what a bunch of a-holes those customers were (not knowing we were in earshot). And when the bartender - who knew who we were and that we could hear everything - said in a hushed tone "No, they were nice" she proceeded to tell him that she didn't care and that they're just a-holes. I've never been treated so shoddy in my life in a restaurant for no other reason than using a promotional discount that they voluntarily participated in. It's bad enough to attack your customers for using a discount. But doing it behind the bar where customers can hear you is beyond unacceptable. And doing it when the customers you're talking about are within earshot is the most offensive thing I've ever expereinced at a restaurant. You may go to Steuben's and have a nice meal, but just be aware that behind the bar, they're talking about what an a-hole you are.

Well we couldn't and after exploring the botanical gardens and grabbing a beer at a brewery this was our chosen spot to grab a bite to eat! We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly, we did not have a drink so cannot speak to that. Food wise after quite a few days we both felt like being a little on the healthy side. We both decided on a chicken Cesar wrap, only difference is I grabbed fries and my wife had onion rings. In the end we agreed that fries were superior! Honestly the best fries of our trip so far! So crisp thanks to the breading used, that gave the perfect crunch. Onion rings were decent and the wraps were tasty. The vibe is dive bar/sports bar that I assume is a great spot for locals who live nearby. As the name implies they do have a decent amount of decor that is goat related. Two other patrons came in looking to watch a soccer game and the bartender made sure it was on for them. Like I said we cannot speak to the actual bar experience since we skipped on drinks but in our experience it was the perfect stop. May be a little bias in liking and appreciating the name.

It didn't feel like an old soul food cafe at all, but a lot more modern/industrial chic(?). We didn't set a reservation so we had to wait (about 15 minutes, not too bad) but the odd thing is, I don't really know why we had to wait. There were empty tables when we came in, when we got seated, and when we left. Waiter was nice enough, everyone was very nice. Food and drink? Sandwiches were all affordably priced, drink was not so much. We got a coke and a glass of Kool aid, $4 apiece, and no refill. A single glass of Kool aid for $4? 2-quarts doesn't cost a dollar to make! The fish sandwich was good. The fries were good, and my kid loves the Mac and cheese. I had high hopes for my chicken sandwich because I could tell they breaded it, and it wasn't something out of the freezer. Kudos. Problem was, it wasn't a whole breast. It was thin sliced then breaded. Half the size of what I could get at Popeyes for $5. If I'm going to a diner (which it was last time I was here) I want Mom's cooking. Not $4 for Kool aid and $8 for half a chicken sandwich, fries cost extra. Okay, but I don't need to rush back.

Upon arrival, I was immediately captivated by the venue's exterior, which features stunning, artful murals and inviting outdoor seating options. Stepping inside, the ambiance is remarkably fresh, pristine, and stylish. The decor is thoughtfully curated with charming, unique design touches, and the private seating areas offer a serene, perfectly comfortable atmosphere for a midday meal. The hospitality was top-tier in every respect. Our waitress, Summer, was so exceptionally warm, attentive, and gracious that I simply had to ask for her name. To begin, I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was expertly crafted, crisp, and utterly divine. I was also deeply impressed by their remarkably well-appointed wine list. For my main course, I selected the Smokehouse Hash. I was delighted when it arrived with impressive speed. It was a complete culinary triumph rich, beautifully seasoned, and prepared to absolute perfection. Between the spotless environment, vibrant artistic aesthetic, sublime cuisine, and Summer's stellar service, Culinary Dropout earns absolute full marks from me. Also amazing. Basically, The Original understood the assignment. Kayleigh took great care of us from start to finish. She noticed my wife and I were wearing Chris Brown and Usher tour shirts and asked if we were headed to the concert. We both replied, "No," which probably made us look like two people who just enjoy confusing strangers. We just liked the shirts, okay? Now let's talk cocktails. The "Don't Mind If I Do" was hands down one of the best Old Fashioned-style cocktails I've had in a long time. Smooth, balanced, and dangerous because it tricks you into thinking, "One more couldn't hurt." My wife ordered the Pig & Pony and absolutely loved it. We also ordered the Hot Take... which isn't pictured because we inhaled it before either of us remembered phones have cameras. The food was phenomenal, the drinks were outstanding, and the atmosphere somehow managed to be both lively and relaxing. If you're in Denver and skip this place, that's between you and your poor life choices. We'll definitely be back... preferably wearing more random concert shirts just to keep Kayleigh guessing.
