Our experience from start to finish was amazing. Our server was friendly and made excellent suggestions. We were there during happy hour and ordered a mix of happy hour and dinner menu. All the drinks we had were expertly mixed. The dinner charcuterie board was so yummy with great pairings. The fried chicken sandwich was crunchy and moist like fried chicken should be. The crab cakes were the best I've had in the Denver area... they were restaurant made with a good portion of crab and so tasty. The blackened fries were hot and crispy, the seasoning was chefs kiss delicious. We didn't have room to try dessert but definitely will save space next time. Food was good but service was beyond terrible! I've never felt so ignored by my waitress. I watched Adelia repeatedly tend to her other tables, but had to be called over just about every time we needed her attention. Our food was dropped off by someone else and about 10 mins later she stopped and asked if everything was ok. I asked for napkins and again observed her go to other tables, deliver drinks from the bar, drop off menus back to the host counter, back to pick up food and deliver it. By this time I'm headed to get my own napkins and I think we she seen me, she remembered that I asked for napkins minutes ago! I'm not really a "let me speak to your manager" type of person because I don't want anyone to think I want something for free, but I did make sure to let her know how disappointed I was with her service. Then of course came the "OMG, I MEANT NO HARM, I DIDNT WANT TO SMOTHER YOU", but "smothering" the other tables was okay. Yeah, very conflicting!! The only time she was prompt with showing up at the table was when she brought the bill and the receipt. I wanted to order dessert but wasn't looking forward to anymore negligence. Also not to mention, this same person sat us against the window where it's a den for flies! As far as the food, the wings were 10/10!!! My husband said the oysters were very tasty but small. He figured that's why they're $2 on Mondays. The catfish was fried perfectly (asked for it to be fried hard) but both the fish AND the grits could have used some seasoning. It was very bland but having the Old Bay on the table came right on time! It definitely improved the flavor. Once added, it was great! The Oxtail Arancini was tasty as well. Overall, I'd dine again, but I'd leave if I had to be seated in Adelia's section. And yes, we left a small tip because she didn't deserve anything at all. If her tip had to be split with the kitchen then she should have given it all to them. Tips are service based and shouldn't be expected without good service. What a shame. Revival public house actually has great food. I came in with a large group to watch the World Cup finals and saw that they have a Monday night oyster and wing special. We were excited to return Monday around 7:30. The restaurant was about half full and we waited at the host stand for a few minutes. Eventually someone walked by quickly, said "kitchens on a hold" and left. We assumed he was running to a table so we waited until he was able to return. He let us know that we could wait on the couches but they weren't serving food currently. We said ok, do you think it's going to be an hour? Two? Three? He briskly responded whenever the kitchen tells me and then left again. I get being in the weeds, and if the kitchen really wasn't able to take orders then I would get it. It's the fact that he didn't even wait for us to respond or offer to seat us at the bar so we could drink until they were ready. They clearly didn't want us to be there and didn't to make a sale. Meanwhile they were still accepting third party delivery orders. Unfortunately the whole interaction felt disrespectful and we will not return. read more

I was told the chef is from Maryland and they serve some mean crab cakes and Benedicts, so I had to try it out! It's pretty hard finding decent crab cakes in Denver especially if it features lump blue crab meat from Maryland. My wife is from Maryland and nothing beats Maryland crabs. I got the crab cake Benedict and it did not disappoint! It's pretty close to what I've had in Baltimore and the surrounding Chesapeake Bay. It's a solid 4 out of 5. The price is decent and you get two crab cakes with good tasting hollandaise sauce. It was a shame that they didn't have old bay that day, but it was still tasty with hot sauce. The crab cake was mostly crab with little fillers...cuz we all hate fillers! Our second dish was the southwest hash, and it was ok. The potatoes were very salty that we couldn't finish the whole dish. The flavors were very typical of the region. This place seems like it would be great if taking advantage of a special! At full price the quality didn't necessarily match up to what we received. The oysters were really yummy and fresh- we specifically got the east coast ones that had a great brine. The orange crush cocktail I would avoid next time and go for something different. I found it to just be a boozy orange crush. I really enjoyed the crab cakes but they were pretty rich so beware! The sandwich and fries were also very yummy. Came for Saturday brunch and had a lovely experience. It was emptier that expected so very easy to get a table without a wait. Our waitress was fantastic, I wish I remembered her name. She provided the best service I've experienced at a restaurant in a while. She gave realistic opinions on the food selections and knew the menu very well. Her food recommendations were great. We came at a time during brunch and happy hour so did a little of both. The bison gumbo was flavorful. The garlic and herb oysters were also good. We got both the shrimp and grits and the catfish and grits. The crawfish cream sauce over the grits was delicious, the shrimp was seasoned well, and the catfish was crispy. Returned to Revival for brunch. I was a bit disappointed in this return visit. Food and service weren't up to par compared to previous visits. The crab dip had a fishier taste than usual, so my friend couldn't eat it. The wings are listed as an entree, so I ordered them to meet the bottomless mimosa requirement. The wings had good flavor and were filling, but it was just a sad-looking plate--too much negative space. Much of what we were served no longer matched what we used to get or what is on the website. And my mimosa did, in fact, reach the bottom, and I had to request a refill from my server each time, despite the restaurant not being very busy. read more

I have been to Revival a couple of times before this specific visit. Revival prides itself on being an eatery with southern influence. The couple of times I have been here before were both a better experience than this time. Service seemed overwhelmed and I waited for about 4 mins at the hostess stand before anyone was available to check us in and seat us. We did have a reservation, which is something I definitely recommend on doing regardless of date or time. Our server was very friendly but also very busy and so we were in for a longer than expected wait for most of our food and drinks. The Maryland crab dip was overly fishy for me and served with communion-like crackers for the most part. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich for my main course and was underwhelmed by the flavor, quality of chicken, and overwhelmed by the massive amount of slaw and mayo that were placed atop of the sandwich. While both were expected to be on the sandwich, it was a bit much. To wrap the meal up, I ordered the banana pudding. This was as expected as well- not the greatest but not the worst I've had. Robbie was our server and he worked hard to serve our party of 22. Though you could tell he was a tad overwhelmed, he never complained and remained hospitable and attentive. However, the food left much to be desired. I got the chicken and waffles and my chicken crust was burnt and barely had any meat in it. The waffle, though so light and desirably soft, came with a bitter after taste with each bite! I also tried the oxtail balls and it was simply mush on the inside and unseasoned. The shell had a great crunch though! I've been here once and don't recall disliking what I had but I also don't recall it leaving a prominent impression. Also, the restroom was red lit. It was so dark in there that my eyes struggled to adjust to see in the stalls. We loved this place for what it was before way back when. We love it more now (and glad they didn't change the setup too much). We make the little bit extra drive still, even though we aren't a half block away like before. The layout is fantastic. Tables with a view of fun 17th street, a great bar area, and if the bar is full, there is cool community bar top thing in the middle. A little bit of elegance, history, and great vibes. This is a place where you can catch happy hour, eat a good meal, have a delightful date night, listen to live music, attend special events (like with CRAB), meet up with friends, etc. Alex was our bartender, and he was that perfect mix of cool and efficient. Perfect service. The only time he disappeared momentarily was when I realized that him and one server were handling the bar people and a good amount of tables. He was all over the place, giving great service to bar and tables. Good drink and food are a good experience. Great service elevates all of that. They don't have a craft beer hh special (hint hint please), but I will never argue with $4 Coors Lights either. For my wife, wine was $2 off. We will get their $3 fries next time, but for this time, we rolled with $8 wings, $2 oysters, and a unique $12 crab...pretzel. Genius whoever thought of putting those two things together. Wife loved her oysters, and I got the Colorado white sauce for my wings, and the sauce was magical. Lots of other good deals, but stomachs only have so much room, and people only have so much time. They have a nice dining area, but we chose to sit at the bar. We started half dozen oysters on half shell with chorizo butter. We shared a small plate of apricot and Coppa. A unique dish of Bruleed Apricot, Coppa, Burrata, Sunflower & Lemon. It was very delicious and came out hot, but our service for utensils got delayed by distracted bartender. Red Beans & Rice with Fried Chicken: Beans undercooked, minimal garnish, chicken lacked seasoning. Steak Diane: Best presentation of the dishes but was drowning in gravy. Sauce was decent; steak tasted off and unseasoned. Cornbread Muffin: Moist to the point of squeezing liquid-odd but flavorful. Summary ----- The food was bland, poorly presented, and overpriced for the quality. Combined with cleanliness issues and gnats, the experience was disappointing. This review is a bit belated, as I had been hoping to come out to Revival for a special event for further insight, but one way or another I needed to give Revival the kudos it deserves. I checked it out recently with a friend after work, and our server was friendly, helpful, and honestly just so fun to interact with. We shared the brussel sprouts as a starter; they were enjoyable and a plentiful portion. I got the shrimp and grits, which as you can tell from the picture did not scrimp on the sauce. And my gosh...it was so good. So good. Very rich to be sure, but honestly I was so impressed, that it convinced me I would be back to try more soon (likely the catfish and grits next!). I feel like between this dish and the service, that's all the reason you need to go. But with a cozy atmosphere and weekly specials and happy hour deals, it's totally worth checking out. I know this little stretch of 17th ave often gets forgotten, but I really hope Revival can flourish. I'm looking forward to more meals to come! read more

The restaurant was not busy at all for a Friday night but still, after waiting 20 minutes, the bartender got the cocktail orders wrong, switching the alcohol in the two recipes.
