To put it bluntly: it's a place with pretty good food for a steep price. It is a very traditional-ish sort of place so you have to eat the meat with your hands scooped up in a pita like a Persian, which some may like and some may not. The vegetables are very good quality and the meat and sauce were very good. For me - the style of eating I don't prefer even when I was raised this way, I prefer the alternative style of eating gyros kind of like a burrito. Moving on from the food and style of eating, it was a little steep for a price. 16 dollars for a plate of maybe 800 calories serving - in my opinion a little too much for what you get. I've been craving gyro meat and when I looked up places near me, this was the first one and I decided to give it a chance due to the good reviews. It did NOT disappoint, so delicious! I ordered the large Greek salad with gyro and it was huge. The biggest perk for me was the quality ; huge chunks of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese. The meat was perfectly cooked, full of flavor and thinly sliced. My favorite part was the pita bread, it was warm and soft...you could definitely tell it was freshly made. My husband took me here after he tried it with coworkers and loved it. OH MY GOSH was this place good!!! We both got the chicken kabobs and Greek salad. The chicken was very moist and charred from the grill just enough to add flavor but not overdone. The salad was fresh. This plate comes with warm fresh pita bread slices with dipping sauce and flavorful rice as well. I don't think I'll be hungry for dinner. It was hard to stop myself from overindulging. First time at this location I usually go to my regular spot at 99 Ave and McDowell. Let me start by saying this place it's twice the size but it's still very clean. Pita kitchen was always a good place to go to before Covid but the last time I went in the midst of Covid, no one was wearing a mask including the workers preparing food and the cashier was not wearing gloves and handling cash and utensils for to go orders at the same time. I have scoured the Arrowhead area for a great gyro and fries combo and have found a few that really make a good gyro. I had read good reviews for the Pita Kitchen, and gave it a try today for lunch. I was surprised at how much a gyro, fries, and small drink cost me. We sat down and waited ... and waited ... and waited ... Twenty-five minutes later we got our food! Had I been on lunch break from work, I would have had to get it to carry out. And they weren't even busy. The gyro was good -- not great, but good. Smaller than many, and the meat was a bit dry. Staff is very attentive to all the customers which is always nice. Atmosphere is nice with the Greek music playing and comfortable booth seats. New customer. Never been, never tried, and won't bother going back. First tried to order online pick-up option at 7pm on a Wednesday. Browsed the menu, picked my options by 7:09pm and wouldn't let me check out stating options in cart are unavailable at this time. Alright, give it another shot....I physically go down to the location, walk in at 7:25pm and fully aware they close at 8pm. Plenty of time to grab and go. I've been to a handful of other greek/Mediterranean restaurants with same style of service. We walk into the restaurant to find only 1 table being occupied by 3 patrons, which walked out behind us when we left as they were just sitting talking and finished their meals...don't even get a hello when we approach the counter to order, instead we get, "just so you know we are only serving shwarma's because we close at 8." Alright....so...salmon isn't even an option to order? "Well it takes 25 minutes to cook." Grilled salmon takes 25mins...... it doesn't even take me that long at home and I can't cook seafood to save my life. Okay, so even if it did take 25mins, remember it wasn't even 7:30pm, it was exactly 7:25pm when I looked at the time stamp on my phone after she said that the salmon takes 25min to cook. Remember, I also tried to order this before 7:10pm online. That's fine by me, we happily had chipotle up the street since you clearly didn't want my business. Saved me $$$ as when I was about to order online the bill was $48, chipotle was only $21. I'll go back to my regular Mediterranean place off 59th Ave and Union hills. Pita Kitchen was just a tad closer to my home and figured why not. Next time, reminder just to drive the extra few blocks. read more
