The captain was super cool and knew a lot about the city (we bothered him with plenty of sight seeing questions). The marina is a little hidden but just got through the construction and you'll find it! The boat we took was not some fancy houseboat but had a porta potty and plenty of shade and comfy new seats. I booked a 90 minute sightseeing cruise after purchasing a Living Social deal. I enjoyed the leisurely boat ride but was disappointed in the "sight seeing" aspect of the tour. Yes, we can see the sights from the river (which in and of itself was worth the trip), but it was clear most of the people were on the boat to party rather than enjoy an informative tour. There is no PA system on the boat, so the few times that they were providing information about cityscape, it was difficult to hear. The tour guide/bar tender assumed everyone on the boat was from Pittsburgh and made jokes relating to certain things that made no sense to me as someone from out of town. He was very friendly but only knew basic information. If you are looking for a leisurely tour down the rivers just to spend time on a boat, this was a great experience. If you are a tourist or out of towner hoping to learn more about Pittsburgh, take a Just Ducky or Gateway Clipper tour. read more

What an amazing time. If you have a large group and you want to spent time together I highly recommend them. Did the 3 hour package September 28,2018 for the night before our wedding for the two families to meet each other. We had 65 people with plenty of seating. Some of the passengers were young children and everyone had fun. They had a full licensed bar and bar tender with amazing prices. We were allowed to bring our own food and such. A person in the wedding party put together a play list which plugged right into a quality sounding system. The crew and captain were knowledgeable , polite and very helpful. Two of the 3 rivers were under flood watch so we had to stay away from them but you would not have even known that!! We still saw plenty of downtown Pittsburgh. There was even a medical emergence which was handled flawlessly (health issue not due to the cruise). Captain Mark immediately spotted a safe spot along the river, as they were pulling over and finding places to tie off the caption was on the radio with river rescue and on the phone with 911. Half the passengers were unaware anything was going on until they saw EMS show up and board, that is how big the boat is. (It ended up not being as life threatening but all the correct decisions were made and executed). We continued along the cruise and captain Mark and his crew made it an amazing experience that my wife to be and I will be forever thankful for. The whole experience was amazing. The crew was extremely helpful, the ship was clean and well kept, and Captain Mark was hilarious and super easy to work with. We had a group of 70 college students and the ship was perfect for our event. Do nothing without a signed contract. I asked for signed contract several times and kept getting the run around. They said we will get it to you, no worries. I trusted them against my better judgment. I ordered invites, decorations etc.. hundreds of dollars spent and they canceled on me due to gas prices and now I have no venue for my event. I don't know how I'll find a venue this late in the game. They didn't even have the decency to tell me this they just sent an auto-generated email. I've got invites I can't send out. I've got 25 4x4 table clothes I can't use.. I had to tell my husband and now his surprise 40th birthday is ruined. Keep scrolling and find someone who is trustworthy bc this is not it. Found this way of getting to the park completely by chance while wandering the Strip District and trying to avoid having to walk from there to the game. It cast-off timely, was a quick ride, and was a fun (albeit short) way to get a different view of the city. I recently bought tickets for the Wine and Cheese Cruise since I'd heard good things about it. I think something must have changed recently. This turned out to be an embarrassing Pittsburgh experience for me and my out of town sister. The boat was old and dirty ("Miss Pittsburgh). The toilet smelled the entire trip and ended up clogging half way thru. It was disgusting. I hardly felt like wine tasting. But, there wasn't any discussion of the cheese or wine.......just pouring of mediocre wine and hunk of cheese appeared in a foil bin with hershey's kisses on top. Dance music was pumped out loudly to top things off. It was far from a classy event. DO NOT spend your money on this unless you want to party and don't care about wine tasting. This company should not have advertised this as a Wine and Cheese Cruise. I want my money back!!! read more

We booked their 1 1/2 hour cruise from a deal through Groupon. We had so much fun! The parking was free on the street near the river. The sign for the cruise is at the corner of an empty lot. We climbed on board with people heading to the baseball game. They exited to the game after about 10 minutes and we continued cruising the 3 rivers of Pittsburgh. Two gentlemen served as our tour guides. One drove the boat while the other pointed out sites and told about the history of Pittsburgh. They were awesome! They even stopped at the Point State Park Fountain (see photo). There was a bachelorette party on board and couples and kids. They served alcohol and soft drinks. We had plenty of room to relax even though it was pretty full. I thought it was well worth it and would recommend this for anyone visiting Pittsburgh! read more

What a joke this place was. Bathrooms were locked at the dock and when you got on the boat the men's room only had a urinal no toilet and no running water. They only had a bottle of sanitizer to wash hands with. FYI you served food...how many guys took a piss then touched the food? Pretty sure from working in the food industry this does not meet health standards. The kicker is the website says food and no alcoholic drinks included but the bartender was charging everyone for the non alcoholic drinks. My wife confronted her with the website in hand and she said ahh yeah and gave her the drinks. That entire boat was charged and should of been refunded. If the girl knew they were free why was she charging to begin with. Save your $70 and go on the gateway clipper. I'm all for small business but put some work into what you're doing and give people what they pay for! read more

Unfortunately, the most enjoyable part of the cruise was laughing at how silly it was! The boat was hot, dark and uncomfortably crowded. You couldn't hear much of the stories - a combination of loud drunk people and the poor PA system. When you could hear the stories, they were silly. Our family maintained a cheerful and forgiving attitude, until the bartender short-changed us. The "Fantasy" boat is a small family-run business that is still finding its way. The six of us loved the idea of what they're trying to do, but the execution is pretty rough at this point. The safety lecture warned us to be careful with the bathroom and not to go for seconds on the buffet. We all understood why they wanted to make this announcement, but it raised questions right away: What kind of crowd do they normally deal with? How tight is this operation? The buffet was rice, green beans, and chicken piccata. OK, but nothing special. Warm, but not hot. There was a older woman with spikey blonde hair who hovered around the end of the line like a prison matron. I can understand wanting to keep an eye on people, but you can do it subtly. To the customer, it's very insulting when a business assumes you're going to try to cheat them. The cookies and brownies came out ten minutes later. Every table sent up a runner to grab a plate right away. They had all seen every grain of the buffet disappear, and they weren't going to miss out. You could feel the crowd's mood was less than satisfied. And then one of the bathrooms clogged. We had been warned, and it wasn't a big deal, since most of the crowd left the boat for the start of the Steelers game. Which is when the older woman with black hair came around and yelled "Gimme your wristbands!" What? "I need your wristbands right now! There's no free drinks after the start of the game." Again, this assumes that the customer is going to try to cheat them. As an alternative, you could subtly ask to see wristbands at the bar. We already knew that the free drinks ended when the game started. No normal person thinks: in a crowd of only 30 people, the bartender might somehow not remember me from the past three hours and I might totally score a canned beer. Our family knew that the cutoff was kickoff, but not everybody on staff knew it. Between picking up the second group of passengers and the start of the game, the spikey haired matron had cut my wife off while she was ordering at the bar- "No more drinks for you!" What? This instigated a five minute game of Telephone, as each staff member had to go around and get their story straight on what the rules of the afternoon were. Six people were standing in line waiting to order while the bar shut down for this emergency. During the game, things were pretty good. We enjoyed sitting and watching the game. The clogged bathroom was only causing a short wait. We were all getting really hungry and could have used some popcorn or something, but that wasn't part of the package so we weren't complaining. Just a nice idea for risk mitigation if your customers have been drinking for hours. I went for two beers during the fourth quarter and that's when the camel's back was broken. I pulled two fives out of my pocket while I was waiting in line. (I know they were two fives because I was being obsessive-compulsive and re-arranging all the bills so they were flat, in order of value and facing the same way.) I gave Emily the two bills and she said "Six dollars. Thank you." I stood there and waited for change and she asked "What? Need something else?" Uh, my change. "You gave me a five and a one." I just stared at her. I couldn't believe it. This was the absolute capper of disrespectful behavior by the crew. All of the crew's poor choices during the afternoon were caused by stress and inexperience. The crew was poorly informed and that's no problem. The crew lacked personal skills and that's no problem. But to make a choice to do the wrong thing is inexcusable. The passengers spent the afternoon being suspected of ill intent, and then it was a crew member who consciously decided to do a little cheating. Unbelievable. And kind of sad. I smiled politely, gave Emily a two dollar tip for two drinks and just rose above the situation. The game ended, and now the bathrooms lines were getting worse. The spikey matron opened the door for each person and checked the bathroom after each person left. Held it open for everybody in the dining area to know how well you had done your business. While waiting in line, I listened to other customers complaining about the overall experience. I also listened to another game of Telephone as the crew tried to figure out when the last call was supposed to be. This confusion was nothing compared to the confusion when a passenger slipped on the dock at the end of the ride. So much yelling, so much stress. Half of our family waited in the freezing cold while the other half of the family was forbidden to leave the boat until everything was under control. Again: we love the idea of this service. We want this family to revitalize the waterfront. The boat and views were great, the captain was friendly and the operation is well-intentioned. The crew of the "Fantasy" was just in over their heads on this afternoon. read more

I reserved tickets for their Haunted Cruise on October 25th back in September and lost the confirmation email with the tickets. I tried calling but was texted back saying the person couldn't talk. I texted my dilemma and they told me to email them. I did so, again explaining my problem and requesting either the tickets to be re-sent or to be held at will-call. I never received a response. Very very poor and difficult customer service. I was given conflicting information 3 different times, representatives were rude, difficult and argumentative. When a boat broke down, they wouldn't give a refund or honor another trip. We had to go during a "make-up" time that wasn't even during a sporting event. I will never do business with them again. -Not ready for weddings- I chose Pittsburgh Luxury Cruises for my wedding after Captain Mark assured me they had done them before and were experienced. I booked him a year in advance and at first he seemed extremely easy to work with. However, once we got about 6 months away he became extremely hard to reach by email or phone. Once I finally got ahold of him to schedule a quick rehearsal with my bridal party and finalize things, I began to worry because he seemed to not know/remember any of the things we had planned (table set up, that we would be getting married on the top deck, etc.). He also changed the drop off times and locations for my vendors multiple times days before the wedding, leaving me frantically trying to contact everyone and change things back and forth. He assured me one of the crew would set up any decor I left as long as I left directions, which I did. Nobody was there to set up, thankfully my sister-in-law went to check everything and she and the caterer set it all up. Without them, there would have been nothing. Day of, my ceremony was supposed to start at 5, and I was told guest could arrive at 4:45. I got a call from Captain Sam at 4:50 apologizing for being late and that the generator was not working so we would not be sailing. Mind you I had 60 people standing in the July heat and humidity waiting to board a boat that hadn't even left their dock yet. The boat did arrived about 5:15 and we did the ceremony at Heinz field dock with no ac or power. In the middle of our vows, Captain Sam came out to tell the DJ (loudly) that we would be leaving to go back to their dock to plug in the boat so we would have power for the rest of the time. Captain Sam had told us we would stay a bit later at their dock since they were late, but then, no warning, cut the power while our musician was in the middle of a song, and began pulling away (this was not at the later time as promised). People weren't even able to brace themselves or find a seat, some were even on the stairs--very dangerous. After my mother asked what was going on he did pull back to the dock and make up the time we were promised but it was still very careless. Carol, the bartender, was the only one I would recommend from the crew that day. She was beyond amazing and courteous. At the end, they did only make us pay the bar tab, which I would have hoped since we didn't actually cruise anywhere as our contract had promised. What upsets us the most is that the owner, Captain Mark, claims to be so proud of his fleet yet never once contacted us afterward to apologize. You better bet if I owned a business and that happened during someone's event (especially a wedding) I would be taking the 2 minutes to make a phone call personally, or at least send an email. I will say they would be great for a party or informal event. However, I do not suggest them for a wedding. If Captain Mark plans to do more weddings in the future, I think he needs to invest in finding a wedding planner or event coordinator. read more

Haunted Boat tour, save your money. packed in like sardines. food buffet, if that is what you want to call skimpy trays, were nearly impossible to see as was soooo dark. question food safety for nothing held at proper temps. not in spooky cool way, but rather zero lighting. Cheap faux Pirate costume, started off 'haunted tour' by telling very unfortunate story of the two young women who sadly drowned earlier in year, not realizing were close to a dam while kayaking. Extremely poor taste, maudlin. Hope no one on tours knew those ladies-total disrespect in how it was relayed. was expecting tales to be scary, like, a HAUNTED TOUR. nothing even close. costumed woman periodically running amok looking for 'lost rat' or something--seemed random, disconnected addition to poor attempt at haunted theme. view from the boat was nice, as closer to water than other Pgh water tours. Parking situation: told can park for free in gravel lot. last minute less than polite man from Tour snipping at everyone to move cars, were parked in wrong area. okay---how about some signage or not being nasty few minutes before boarding like was customers fault. One bartender for entire 100 plus on board- tho she was quite pleasant, friendly. Tip: owner/management - invest in new Act, dont overcrowd, lighting around food, keep at proper temps. not that would try them again for anything other than water taxi. I have used Fantasy in the past for an Anniversary Party for my parents and it was WONDERFUL! The staff was friendly and flexible to my needs. The boat is spectacular with views from every angle, not to mention a great dance floor upstairs. This is a little known secret in Pittsburgh. The Pittsburgh Water Limo's game day shuttle service. You park your car in the Strip District, usually for free near the Marina, or if that's not available, for a cost far less than the lots around the stadiums. You then have a leasiurly ride to and from the North Shore aboard the Miss Pittsburgh or the Fantasy. There are no parking hassles, and after the game, there's no delay going home trying to exit a crowded parking garage or surface lot. The cost of your round trip ticket is less than most of the rates charged by parking lots and garages closer to the venue. The staff is friendly and approachable. Its a great way to get to the games! My wife and I are looking forward to trying one of the wine tasting crusies this summer! read more

I was just on the Miss Pittsburgh boat this weekend for my graduation. We had about 18 people on the boat with food catered by All the Best catering, who works with Pittsburgh Water Limo. Mark took us on the tour and gave us great facts and info about Pittsburgh and the sights, which was great for my relatives to hear and I even learned some things about Pittsburgh! I recommend taking a tour on this boat or for parties, as it was a really fun way to spend the day. I would definitely let them know if you're more interested in hearing information or would rather just spend time with your family/friends, as it was at times difficult to do both. I went on the Pittsburgh Haunted Cruise this past Friday. The weather forecast was predicting strong winds an heavy downpour! Great setting for a haunted cruise right? Well, My friends an I got there at 8:05pm. The cruise was sold out, and the boat filled up fast. We sat down on the main deck. It was so dark that you could not see anything around you. I mean dark. I realize this is supposed to be spooky! but I couldn't find the appetizers! ( if you want to call them that) they put out bags of chips with a plate of chip dip , a platter of cookies that looked and tasted like leftovers from someone's wedding, and last came the chicken wings! nothing nice to say about that either. Well, now I was at least hoping for a good storyteller keeping me enchanted about all the great ghost stories us Pittsburghers grew up on. !! Well I cannot begin to tell you how ridiculous this guy was! He had this over dramatized campy voice that was laughable! I couldn't even understand most of what he was saying!! And I didn't recognize any of the stories about Pittsburgh! Add all this to the fact that we were all dying of heat exhaustion! This was one of the best event planning experiences we ever had. We rented The Fantasy boat for my girlfriend's birthday bash in May. Captain Mark was beyond accommodating and attentive. The deal with the boat was great. He supplied all the liquor and champagne we needed plus the ginger beer we requested. We were able to get to the boat early to decorate. The party was a white party. Upstairs was all white and gold decor and downstairs we put fresh flowers. There were about 60 guests and we did not need a formal sit down dinner, we were able to just put out a few tables for the buffet and eating but the rest was open space. It felt great. We had a fabulous time. I cannot stress again how wonderful and easy it was to work with Captain Mark. As a gay couple you are never sure how you will be received, but we felt so comfortable the whole time. They even have a sound system. Great time, great people, I highly recommend!!!!!! read more
