Pittsburgh Street Dogs is tucked in the corner of a parking lot of Springdale... but they represent nationwide flavors with their creative and generously topped hot dogs!! From the moment I walked in, the owners greeted me and immediately walked me through the whole process. The menu is extensive, but they explained it all and were more than happy to take any other questions. You can tell these two love what they do with so much fun hot dog decor on every wall, Springdale High School gear draping the walls, and such creative and honor for their craft of delivering top notch food to their community! I ordered the Kansas City Chief Hot Dog, the Elote Hot Dog, and a side of Notorious RBC fries!! I added on a Turners Tea and a pack of Chocolate Crinkle cookies!! Let me just say... ILLL BE BACKKK again and again!! I got the order to go and they individually packed my ranch and my lime so that I could dress the items when I was ready to eat. The Kansas City Chief was amazing. Sauerkraut and Thousand Island bubbling out of the bun... but just that snap of the hot dog and perfect bun to hold all of the culinary chaos in. The Elote Hot Dog was just like you'd want. The lime juice popping off with the fresh sweet corn and spices!! The Notorios RBC should definitely be notorious such flavor with the ranch, bacon, chili, and cheese but the fresh French fries held up and had crisp crunch throughout. Turners Iced Tea in a carton.... That's just true yinzer code! And the cookiessss... it really was a brookie and mannnn it was decadent and moist... almost as if they baked them just that morning!! Perfect lunch spot! Lots of fun hot dog options, and classic ones, too. The interior is clean, fresh, and has plenty of seating as well as fun decor. There are additional shaded tables outside, too. The staff is very friendly, and made us feel welcome. Our hot dogs were terrific, (natural casing, and they did have the satisfying "snap!" as advertised) and our cookies were also outstanding. There are plenty of sides, too. One menu item included a trio of mac & cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. If you are a vegetarian, you will likely be able to find something to eat here. This was my first time at Pittsburgh Street Dogs, but it won't be my last. I'm not a big hot dog eater, but these were delicious. I got a Detroit Coney (hold the mustard) and the balance of chili to do as well as the amount of cheese was perfect. The bun was incredibly fresh and soft, but did not crumble or disintegrate with the toppings. The hot dog was juicy and tasty and had a good snap from the casing, but was easy to bite into. My husband ordered a "Welcome to Miami" dog which has a very tasty kielbasa and a generous, but not overbearing pickle slice. The very friendly and polite man who took our order happily subbed in cheddar for the Swiss cheese in the menu. The service was excellent and the speed of preparation was more than reasonable. We ordered fries that were clearly made fresh and they were hot and crispy. The "small" size that we ordered was generous enough for two and we couldn't eat all that was there. This is a great little local place that provides excellent and unique dogs with great quality. It's well worth a visit and I'll be going back again when I'm in the area. read more

The Yelp reviews aren't lyin! The dogs were delicious and the service was excellent. I ate later than usual, so I got 2 dogs and no sides....but I tried a sample of the Mac n cheese and it was great. The Chicago dog was exceptional....great sport peppers. I built my own for the second dog and it too was delicious. Both had great flavor! Since moving to Oakmont, PA from San Francisco, CA about three years ago, my husband and I are constantly on the hunt for great food in all its forms. And Pittsburgh Street Dogs (PSD) is in excellent form. Located in the Borough of Springdale, a few miles down the road from us, PSD is located in a little white and red building at 155 Pittsburgh Street. This place is the real deal and they do it well. We were pleased to see that they source locally as much as possible. Their menu is extensive (but not over the top) and reasonably priced, offering a "Build-it-Yourself" hot dog where you choose from an impressive array of dogs, breads, toppings, and the Pittsburgh mainstay, cheeses. They also offer a selection of 8 creative specialty dogs representing different parts of the country: I chose the Reuben-inspired Kansas City Chief--an all-beef hotdog split down the middle with melted Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and Thousand Island dressing, topped with caraway seeds. My husband went with the "Welcome to Miami," an el Cubano Perro (Cuban Dog), which featured a split Boski kielbasa with thick-cut bacon, melted Swiss, a dill pickle and yellow mustard. As we ate, our silence was a testimony to the flavorful, gloriously sloppy concoctions. I would be remiss if I didn't pay tribute to the sides. Oh, the sides! We tried three. First, we shared a large order of fries, and they were incredible; the best we've had in a long time. The friendly owner, Jim, informed us that the fries are air fried. Incredible as it may seem, no oil was harmed in the making of these beauties! They came to our table hot, crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They also offer several "Specialty Fries," which we will certainly try on subsequent visits (of course we're going back!), but for now, those air-fried beauties were perfection. Perhaps inspired by our enthusiasm, Jim gave us tastes of his creamy, gooey Mac & Cheese (made with, I believe, several cheeses), and the sweet, tomato-y, smoky homemade baked beans, a family recipe. As I mentioned, my husband and I are always on the lookout for great food and we are willing to travel to get to it. If you're a hotdog lover, I welcome you--Greater Pittsburgh and Beyond--to make the trip to Springdale to sample these wonderfully satisfying offerings. I've been here several times and have always had a great experience. The owner reminds me of a grown up version of one of those kids from high school who was friends with everyone, was super nice, outgoing, and just fun to be around. He is so welcoming! He makes everyone feel like a regular - even if you only occasionally visit as I do. As for the food, I've had both the Chicago dog and the Pittsburgh dog. Both very tasty. The fries are baked - and they are good for baked fries - but they aren't as good as fresh cut deep fried ones. Is this the best dog I've ever had in my life? No. But it's doggone good (pun intended) and the experience makes you want to keep coming back. read more

I've made several visits to this place and plan to make several more. I've been slowly working my way through the menu and have tried several different items. I was never a huge fan of natural casing hotdogs until I went here. The BBQ side plate is excellent and the baked beans are the highlight for me personally. The no bean chili has a touch of sweetness which is different but good in its own way. The Boski kielbasa is a favorite of mine as well, paired with a Mancini bun you can't beat it. The owners and staff are some of the nicest people, always doing whatever they can to make sure everyone is satisfied. This place is always busy, so if you are in a rush or on limited time I recommend ordering ahead. I hope this place is around for many years to come. It's become a favorite place for me, my kids, and my whole family. I wish them nothing but success. read more
