cash only reliable staple I have to give it to this place! Reliable, affordable, with warm and fast service. The sub itself was quite simple. My friend and I agreed it could use seasoning, but with some heavy addition of malt vinegar I thought it was a quick remedy. I would recommend giving this place a try for a tasty bite and wonderful service. I personally find that a lot of subs are even better as leftovers, which was definitely the case here!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Peppi's is such a nostalgic place and rarely disappoints! Stepping straight into 1985 pittsburgh, with wooden bench seating and pics of pittsburgh and sports celebrities.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Much cleaner than Primanti's!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We decided to go ahead of a pirates game since we were parking in the northside anyway. Everyone working the counter was super kind and friendly and for one of the most casual places ever, they have great service. We got the cajun fries, the big Nate and the New Yorker! Everything was hot fresh and ready fast. Remember it's CASH ONLY!!!

Great food and even greater service. Everyone working seemed to be so happy and enjoyed being there which somehow made the sandwich taste even better? Sandwiches were huge and hearty. Spicy Cajun fries weren't too spicy but definitely had the Cajun flair going on. Highly recommend stopping in and just chatting it up at the service counter. They are a delight!

We came here on Saturday morning. The staff was friendly and helpful in ordering. I got the Italian regular with LTO peppers and banana peppers served hot and with mayo and the oil blend. I also got the combo with the drink and fries. I don't particularly love fresh cut fries but for what they were they were good. The sub was soooooo good. I would get it again for sure. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was very old-timey and minimal. We loved it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Pittsburgh staple. Delicious sandwiches. Best fries in town with the cheese. Friendly staff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good environment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nothing says Pittsburgh more than this restaurant. Will leave you stuffed leaving the establishment. If you are going remember cash only.

Nice to actually go to where the sandwiches is has before are made fresh. All our sandwiches were delicious and the fries and chicken fingers a friend ordered were also good. Service was friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was very hot, but not unbearable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is super casual/cafeteria.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also only accepted cash, which was very strange.

Stopped in as I was looking for some local flavor. Read the reviews and didn't want Primanti's tourist trap. Peppi's was excellent. Exactly what I was looking for! Some many options I could have ordered like 5 things. Asked a guy in front of me in line for some recommendations, he mad too many good ones. I ended up order the Italian regular, but you can get an option to get it grilled. Which I absolutely went with! This sandwich was amazing! I'm craving it as I write this. I also ordered a side of fries with cheese wiz. I had too. The counter guys were all friendly, even joked me about the Phillies shirt I was wearing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My group sat outside as it wasn't too hot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you are in town and want some local, go! Next time I'm in town... I'm there! 5 star service, 5 star selection, 5 star taste.

You like traditional goto, must have, sandwich from Pittsburgh? If you do, this place is for you…read more This place was started by Joe Primanti in 1933 to feed shift workers from the local warehouses (coal and iron) and railroads. They are known for big sandwiches which now includes fries and cole slaw. The sandwiches provided value to workers...who were looking for a place to feed themselves to keep their energy up for a long shift. When you sit at the bar and you can only imagine the workers that sat here to feed themselves with what little they had. They found a sandwich between two pieces of soft Italian bread with a good balance of meat, cheese, cole slaw and fries...think energy and value. The history here is real and intense. Would I rate this as a culinary destination? Not particularly but I would say it's a must see to be part of US history as the town righted itself and came to life. The sandwich? I had the pastrami with cole slaw, egg, fries and tomato on Italian bread. Remarkably, the sandwich was light...despite it sounding heavy. The cabbage and tomatoes bring a great balance to the sandwich which makes it messy and remarkably light. Be prepared to get messy..so eat fast! I am probably talking too much about the sandwich...just go try it. The food is probably a 3.5 but it gets the extra .5 for the amazing history there. The service was great...well educated on the product, accommodating in every way. If you are in Pittsburgh, this is a must try.

I had to go across the street to use the restroom because theirs were nasty. It required going down a steep set of stairs, and the women's bathroom floor was wet. There was also a bucket catching brown water dripping from somewhere, which was pretty concerning. The wings and onion rings were just average and didn't really stand out. There are newer locations of this restaurant that I'd recommend instead. Based on my experience, you'll likely have a much better overall visit at one of those locations

Feeding a full team on game day can be complicated, but Peppi's made it almost seamless. Jeff & his team were incredibly accommodating from start to finish. We sent over a detailed PDF orders, and they packaged every single meal individually in bags labeled by player number. It made distribution quick. There were a few sandwiches accidentally left out of the initial order (which can happen with large group catering), but as soon as we called, Jeff took complete ownership. He had fresh, hot replacements made & delivered to the field in less than 20 minutes so our team could leave on time. The players love the quality , the size, the flavor, the freshness of both the sandwiches and salads. It was a perfect post-game meal. We will absolutely use Peppi's again the next time we're in Pittsburgh. In fact, we're already talking about stopping by on our way out of town to grab lunch for the road.
