"Bread and wine, bread and wine your thoughts ain't nearly as wicked as mine' (The Cowboy Junkies) The Pixie Boulangerie has breads, but no wine, however the intoxicating aromas of their European baked goods will surely make your head spin as fast as a strong Madeira would. This place is a gem, pure and simple. We chatted with one of the owners, a delightful woman from Switzerland who told us a little about the different breads, babkas, tarts, galettes, croissants, pies, quiches, and cookies all around us. We decided on a chocolate croissant ($5) "Layers of buttery laminated dough in a cylinder around fine chocolate batons. Crispy and flaky, with a strong chocolaty flavor core", a Jambon Gruyère Croissant ($7) "German Black Forest ham and Swiss Gruyère cheese rolled inside a croissant", an Apricot Swirl ($3) "Bits of croissant dough swirled around a dollop of apricot jam in a little cup" and a big slab of Pesto Parmesan Focaccia (fresh from the oven) for $6. Each and every one was excellent -the croissants were flaky and grease-free, the Apricot Swirl was flaky, delicious and super moist, and that focacchia was savory and plain delicious. We really enjoyed shopping here, and of course we really enjoyed eating what we bought here! read more

I happened upon Pixie driving through Great Barrington. I had not read reviews; I had no expectations. I ordered a spinach hand pie and a savory herb scone. Both were spectacular. Some of the rudest people I've encountered here in The Berkshires. Customer service is absolutely terrible. A lot of the breads and pastries are reheated from the day before without being discounted. I have to hit a star to post this but if I could hit zero, or negative stars I would. read more

I noticed the sign for Pixie Boulangerie last week and had to stop by on the weekend to give it a try. I headed into the bakery thinking I was only going to buy a few croissants, but I immediately saw so many incredible baked goods that had clearly just come out of the oven that I couldn't resist and ended up leaving with a loaf of multigrain bread and an apricot twist in addition to the croissants. Everything was incredible, and I can already tell a trip to Pixie is going to become a part of my weekend routine. What a gem in our Beautiful Berkshires! My husband is from Belgium and has longed for the baked goods of home. Pixie delights all of his senses, the smells, the sights of familiar treats, the feeling of love that is poured into their every creation, and of course the taste and perfect texture of what he remembers so well from his European roots.
