We have left our dogs with Kathy in the past with no significant…read moreissues. She does give a lot more treats than we give at home, but for the occasional weekend, we don't mind. However, this last time, we encountered some issues that seriously crossed the line. We are shocked and hurt and I hope to help others avoid similar experiences. Kathy did not just give our dogs a few extra "treats", which is what she had asked about and we had given permission for. She also gave them "premium supplements" at meals, on top of the prescription kibble we had provided. On top of that, she gave all 3 of them far more kibble with each meal than instructed, going through 8 or more meals worth of food in just 6 meals. She did this for all 3 dogs, even though the amounts of each kibble to be given to each dog were very clearly written in marker on large cards in the front of each food baggie, as simply and clearly as possible; the measuring cups were included; and each bag was also labeled with how many meals in total were in it. And then she had the gall to *charge us* for the "supplemental" mealtime foods she added, which we had NOT asked for, agreed to, or wanted! This was a complete shock because although she has, as I said, given more treats in the past than we would at home, she has not ever before, to our knowledge, added foods to their meals, let alone charged us for any foods she gave. There is an order of magnitude of difference between the usual few extra treats and the several extra cups' worth of food given every day to our dogs. My dog has a history of IBD, which Kathy knew and was in his paperwork. Yet he was hugely overfed and given rich, unusual foods, including roast beef, stewed chicken, canned tripe, and goat milk, which could have made him very sick. He also has SLO, which has been in remission for years, and for the first time in years, while at Kathy's, he lost a toenail. We can't be certain the extra food was the only cause of that, but I would lay odds that the stress to his system from all that food was a factor. Such large meals are also a bloat risk, which anyone caring for the larger, deep-chested breeds should know. Unfortunately, we had already written the check before looking in detail at the breakdown of charges and realizing what she had done and charged us for. When I brought it to her attention, she justified the charges by pointing out that her contract says that premium foods and supplements are available and the prices may vary depending on availability. The same contract asks that owners provide the dog's own kibble for meals "for the sake of the tummy". Hello? Any benefit to the dog's tummy from having their own kibble at meals is negated when those meals are "supplemented" with all these extra foods! I am positive that ANY dog owner would -- as my partners and I all did -- take the wording in the contract to mean that premium foods are available IF REQUESTED by the dog's owner or IF the owner chooses not to bring the dog's own kibble. NOT that these foods would be given, and charged for, at Cathy's sole discretion, IN ADDITION TO the dog's own measured meals from home. We would have accepted an apology and an offer to refund the charges we had not agreed to. But we got neither. Kathy insists that giving extra foods with meals, and not just treats at appropriate times to reinforce behaviors, is part of her "behavioral philosophy". Prior consent of the owner, apparently, is NOT any part of her philosophy. This is highly unprofessional, to say the least.

Buyer Beware! Super unprofessional…read more Contacted for a shoot to celebrate 50, paid the fee and covid hit, having to put this on the back burner since I wanted an 'in-gym' shoot. Kimberly was very gracious, offered to set up a story-telling session, was going to set up a group of women over 40 to celebrate and wanted me part of that. Ok, great. But... time passes and when we do the shoot we have to do in her studio. She insisted I follow her style guide to set up the shoot and choose outfits, yet despite the months and months of lead time she couldn't actually get this in the mail to me because of her new full time job with the state. I had 5 days to put together a once in a lifetime shoot. Thanks. We arrange the reveal and I plan my entire day to go to the studio like we discussed in the shoot. An hour before the shoot she changes it to virtual when I'm nowhere being able to go home. Every single thing she said wasn't true, every single portion of this shoot I had to manage. I would have sworn this was my business by the way she was so hands off of it all. The shoot was so bad she offered a refund and it was bad enough I didn't even want these pictures, so I agree. Yet.. refund never hits. After I nag about that she claims her software program was flubbing it up. I offer to just spend it on some pictures and yet when I send that email.. no response. Save your money and hire an actual professional. This gal is a joke. I even did a bbb claim over it to which she completely ignored, yet still in business. Can go to bbb website and see it for the next three years (august 2024) that she decided to just ignore it. Zero professionalism and follow through with the words she speaks.

As I was looking for a new dog online, I came across a beautiful pup and started an online dialogue…read morewith this shelter. After going through an intensive online application and further communication with one of the people there, I agreed to come visit and was asked to bring my friend as he lives on my property and will be an influence in a new dog's life here. The nice lady I was talking with explained that although she will not be there on the Saturday I was to visit but assured me that the shelter manager would be happy to talk with me. It is over an hour away so I wanted to make the most of my visit. I also brought my two much older dogs with me in case there was an opportunity to let them meet each other. When we arrived we were met by two volunteers both pleasant young ladies and an occasional third young man. We met the puppy and even took her for a walk down the road. The place was empty of other visitors and the parking lot was empty. important. I get it that they care about their dogs and want to make sure that they find nice homes. but.. Apparently the shelter manager was too busy to speak with me even though she was the only one who could say anything that wasn't a part of their 'script' and it was she that I came to talk to and whom I had made the appointment to meet. They would not allow my dogs to meet the puppy and insisted that the next step 'had' to be an in home visit. Again... just repeating their script as they had no authority to do anything other than repeat the script. So we left with assurances that they would be in contact with me to arrange said visit. That was over 3 weeks ago and still not a word from any of them, not a call or even an email. I am an older gentleman who owns my own home with 3 acres of land alongside of a river with an additional 35 acres of land next to me for walks and I have owned dogs my entire life. I have no idea what their issue is but this is a pretty crappy way of dealing with someone who wants to provide a home for a dog from a shelter.
