The dining room was clean, with plentiful seating. The service was excellent; they warned us right away that it would be 30-40 min for the wings to come out due to the queue. The joint has character, and long ties to the small community of Harwick. The current incarnation of "Bear's" was established by two brothers 44 years ago. The hand carved back bar probably goes back to the first bar here, which was probably (?) established between prohibition and mid-century? A big part of the attraction of dive bar lies in the patrons it attracts, and I came here early on a weekday when no one else was there; so any observations on that will have to wait for future visits. But the place has such character that I've already listed it among my favorite PIttsburgh area dives.

For our meals, the hostess and waitress promptly and politely served us. Here are my reviews for the foods: Pretzel bites - 4.5 stars - This appetizer was a large size. We really liked the flavor of the pretzels and the honey-mustard dip. We thought that the cheese dip was OK. Pulled-pork nachos - 5 stars - This appetizer of nachos was huge! Many tortilla chips were topped with gooey cheese, pulled pork, jalapeños, sour cream, and pico de gallo. Fried deviled eggs - 4 stars - The egg white was breaded and fried. It contained a yolk filling and was topped with a spicy jalapeño. We prefer traditional deviled eggs, but these ones tasted good.
