Tried this place out today and honestly was very disappointed. Wings were tiny definitely not jumbo and FLOATING in garlic grease. Garlic dough knots were burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. Cheese sticks wasn't melted. And the pickles were extremely greasy also. Threw away 80% of what we purchased. I don't normally leave bad reviews but this one was not good at all. Was really wanting some good wings. I will say, one person had the fingers and fries and the said they were good. So maybe try that if you go there. But I will choose Zaxbys wings over these any day and Zaxbys is a 3 out of 10 for me. These would be a 1 out of 10. read more

It's exactly what you expect. Just as bad as McDonald's. It's pot luck on what you'll get. You wanted a sausage sandwich with marinara sauce...too bad. Place smells of some kind of disease but I can't put my nose on it. Don't go after dark and park in the parking lot, if you do make sure to have your life insurance policy up to date. What a GEM!!! The service was laid back but attentive. The food was amazing! We got two different cheese pizzas and both were fantastic. The honey mustard jumbo wings were good - juicy and flavorful. I didn't get much mustard flavor but the chicken was perfectly cooked. I was impressed by how clean and well organized everything was. We frequently visit Pizza In The Hood! The staff is ways friendly and the food is delicious! Last night we visited while waiting for our son to finish ball practice. We were greeted right away and had our drinks in the first couple of minutes of sitting down. We ordered an appetizer and wings. We always order our wings extra crispy and they were cooked perfectly! Our fried mushrooms were delicious also. We ordered an xlarge pizza to go! They timed it perfectly so when we were finished up, it was coming out of the oven. Our visit did not quite rise to 5 stars because the to go pizza was a little soggy in the middle of the pie. Having said that..it had great flavor and my kids definitely gobbled it up. We came in from Miami to visit a friend and decided to try Pizza In The Hood. Pizza was super fresh and the chef was very friendly. We also ordered fries and mozzarella sticks. Very very fresh and delicious. Our waitress was also very very friendly. She made sure we were comfortable and happy at the restaurant. I loved the environment of this restaurant. The music, art, and ambiance was very welcoming. We will definitely stop here again when we travel to Gainesville! read more

We ordered a large pizza, half pepperoni, half black olives and the pepperoni side with no sauce. At most, we should have been charged $13.50 for a large pepperoni, we were minus sauce and 1/2 the pepperoni. It was a one topping pizza. Also ordered 20 wings, very small wings... 1/2 terriyaki and half hot. We both ate one piece of pizza and I had one wing. My first bite of the pizza I couldn't really chew it. It was bad... my friend had no sauce on her side. She couldn't chew it. I thought I would just eat the wings and I noticed when I went to get a second wing that it looked like there weren't quite 10, I counted them and there were only 7 after I ate one. I then counted The others and there were only 9 and she had'nt tried them yet, she was still gnawing on the pizza, or trying too. The wings are 10.99 for 20 medium sized wings and the pizza should have been $13.50 at the most. Because taking away items on a pizza shouldn't be more money... if you look at the pictures of the food it looks really good online, but, you are not getting what that picture looks like. And then when I called to tell them about it, the girl said she didn't know if they would remake the pizza! then she said she would, I was about to go back up there, and we just decided to get our money back, which is when we saw the pricing discrepancy of an extra $10 the bill should've been $24.49, we were charged $32.87. The menu prices have not changed. I am sure the box would have tasted better than this pizza... we would have been able to chew through it at least. I am a sous chef in Houston Texas and I know exactly how restaurants are ran. If you can't count to 20 I just don't know what to say... in my kitchen we weigh things and re-package for correct counts on many items. The pizza was bland, unappetizing and looked as though it was frozen and took out of a box and put in an oven. Very disappointed with the taste and eye appeal. Price was good. Staff was friendly. But friendly doesn't make the pizza any better. I've had better from the frozen section of a grocery store. The spaghetti had too much sugar in the sauce. My 7 year old grandson who really likes spaghetti said it didn't taste right and ate warmed up week old spaghetti from his birthday that Grams made instead. The wings were above average. My family and I really wanted to keep supporting the local businesses during this time (Covid 19), as best we could within our means. Pizza in the Neighbor Hood is one of our favorite places, and we miss eating there! I called in an order of wings and fries today for the fam. When I went to pick the order up, I was really impressed with the efforts they are taking to keep everything clean and safe for the guests when they come in to pick up their order. The wings were amazing as always, and you can't beat the price! Please folks, keep supporting these local businesses if you are able. Let's keep them alive so they can be there for us to visit when this is all behind us! Maybe consider tipping a little more than you usually would for take out because these folks that depend on tips aren't getting near as much with the restaurants being closed (or limited seating) for dine-in. I have eaten here several times. The food is very cheap. The portions are generous. The 2 slices of pizza and 6 wings deal is hard to beat for the money. I also highly recommend the mango habanero wings. They were very good. If you manage to come in on a Sunday the soul food menu is 2nd to none in the area. The Mac and Cheese is incredible. The Smothered Pork Chops are as good as any in the area. The soul food menu as a stand alone gets 5* in my book. read more

4 Stars with a disclaimer: We've ordered wings from here several times and they are fantastic. The hot garlic is my favorite. We've always done take-out, as the inside is relatively small with just a few tables. The service has always been fine, other than today. I've called in my order at least six times previously without issue. Today I called in my order, and when I arrived to pick it up, the girl told me that she was the one whom I spoke with on the phone and that I did not order 24 jumbo wings, but rather ordered the "special". I said I didn't order the special, I ordered 24 jumbo wings. She gave me a lot of attitude, which was disappointing because I wasn't even initially bothered that my order got messed up. Mistakes happen, I understand that. However, when she preceded to be incredibly rude and basically call me a liar and tell me I ordered something that I absolutely did not order, that definitely upset me and tainted my perception of this place. She told me I'd have to wait 25 minutes for my order, didn't offer to comp my meal, or at the very least give me a discount, which is 100% the right way to treat a customer when a mistake is made. I give Pizza in the Hood 4 stars because the wings are very good, but when thinking about getting wings in the future, this experience will impact whether I go back and if I do, how soon. I do believe in second chances, so I'd like to say I'll give them another try in the future, but if service continues to be rude, I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

A couple of weeks ago I picked up diner for my family. I did not look....bad choice. The mushrooms were rocks and the wings were dead branches. I called, got the apology, got the promise of credit. I sent my daughter to pick up the replacement today. She got excuses. We already gave you this replacement. No you did not. Well we don't have anything, I remember a call but we don't have anything. The cook don't know anything about it. You have to come back. She called me and I got the same run around. It is one thing to offer a promise, another to honor them. I will NEVER go back. You cannot take my money for service and then provide me with nothing. I work hard for my money. I give to those in need. I don't give to a business to get nothing in return. We had been excited to try the new place even though word in the street hasn't been too favorable...Ordered two pies for take out - was told 15 minutes. So my daughter and I arrive to pick up and we pay right away. Then we wait... not a big deal. One pizza comes out of the kitchen and I ask the person behind the counter if the pizza was mine she said yes - I asked if it will get cold while the other one was cooking. She explained that it was in a warmer but she could put it in a bigger one in the back and I said no it was ok there. Then I stated that it has been a bit more than the promised 15 minutes. She did not reply but she did go back in the kitchen and say (in a loud voice) "That woman up front is such a b**ch" and then Repeated the conversation with the kitchen staff. When she came out of the kitchen I told her we could hear everything she just said and I didn't appreciate being called that in front of my daughter - she told me it wasn't about me even though it obviously was - and then proceeded to argue with me . She did not apologize and just smirked at the other employees like she thought the whole thing was funny. I spoke with the manager who did apologize and I told him I wanted my money back but he said he didn't have the authority to give it back only the owner did - now I'm waiting for the owner to call me.
