Villaggios is one of my top 3 when it comes to pizza!! We have been going there years, didn't realize i hadn't done a review. Was great seeing the place busy, we were lucky to get a table when we did, as it is a very small restaurant. Their garlic knots are in my top 3 as well. We ordered a couple pizzas as we knew there was gonna be left overs , orderedna NY White pizza , and a Margherita pizza.Both tasted phenomenal!! So worth the short drive. While you could say they're not much to look at from the street, I'll say they're a textbook example why you don't judge a cook book by its cover. I believe I read that half of all pizzas nationally are ordered with mushrooms. Canned type just seem so slimy (dilutes the sauce) and rubbery to me. I was driving back from diving in the springs and stopped here simply because I knew I was too hungry to bother cooking something when I got home. And I am glad I did: though the interior looks slightly run-down, the owner and his staff are both super-friendly and super-prompt. Very hard-working people, nearly in a frenzy on a Saturday night getting both take-away and table orders done for waiting customers--and all with a smile at that. My pizza was a generous slice, hot, and very good. I got an order also of their garlic bread--they have both garlic bread and their famous garlic knots, but the knots looked like a cardiologist's nightmare so I opted for the slightly healthier garlic bread. The garlic bread was alright--not as good as the pizza, however, but still fine. What won me over though most of all was the friendly, outgoing, hard-working staff and owner plus the speed with which they were getting customers' orders up--you could tell they really care about their customers being happy. read more

Believe the reviews. This place is very, very good. We live a bit too far from Newberry (35 miles) to make it a regular stop. But I happened to be driving through the other day and I thought that it would be a great opportunity to check it out. I ordered a large pizza over the phone when I was about a half hour out. It was coming out of the oven when I walked in. It was absolutely wonderful. The crust is nice and thin but not TOO thin. Got our usual meatball, sausage, and onion. Took it home. Can't say enough good things. The people are very nice, too. Would love to drive down for date night sometime soon. read more

The umpire at the softball tournament said this place was his favorite to get pizza and I took him up on it and was amazed though the exterior doesn't look like much. But the second you walk inside everything changes the atmosphere made me feel like I was in NYC it was clean and even the restrooms were very clean. I ordered the buffalo chicken and steak pizza with a meatball sub and some garlic knots.everything was top tier especially the buffalo chicken that was my favorite. Villaggio's is a Newberry staple. I recommend going for lunch and eating in! There are great lunch specials and you can order pizza by the slice, have a few rolls, or even order a sub! I know food prices are getting more expensive so for dinner, you're paying full price for a pie without any deals like chain restaurants but still worth it in my opinion if you'd like a NY style of pizza. Stopped in after a long hot day at a softball tournament down the street. Staff was very friendly and attentive, place was clean and inviting, and the food was authentic mom and pop Italian fare. Ordered on our way home from the emergency vet one evening, my husband and I were starving and it was late. The food was fresh and excellent. They have great pizza! Went back for Father's Day and everything was on FIRE! Salads, Pizza, meatball sub, garlic knots, garlic bread was all great! My absolute favorite of theirs is their Canollis! Visited for the first time today. Felt immediately welcomed. Everyone else coming in seemed to know the staff and the staff knew them. A hometown restaurant with a friendly hometown feel. Calzones are huge, stuffed with ingredients and absolutely delicious. Easily 2 meals for an average appetite. Pizza is wonderful. Garlic knots are a must have! We don't live close, but we pass by often and now have the take-out menu in our car. Dominos is half a block away and I don't know how they are in business with the best Italian food right there at Villaggio's. read more

We stopped by early on our way to Gainesville Regional Airport. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We ordered a split Meat Lovers and Eggplant Parmigiana pizza. My husband took me to this place to try something new, wasn't expecting Newberry but he had been before and wanted me to try it too. It was a little small to my liking being that Covid is still around, also no one had masks on(not surprised since it's newberry) but it just made me a little uncomfortable. I was hoping the waitress had one on but nope, no one. The waitress was very pleasant though and prompt with everything. We ordered the garlic knots(they come 3 to an order. They were ok, from seeing them in the display I thought the garlic sauce and butter would be drenched/coated in it but it was pretty dry. We ordered the veggie pizza adding bacon on it and without olives. It was really good! So glad it was not Chicago style(sometimes the bread can be a bit much) but it came out like it was a Chicago style pizza, it came straight out the oven and was super hot. All in all, it was nice to get out and try a new pizza place that I probably wouldn't have went to ever if it wasn't for my husband. Mamma mia! I love Villaggio's! Even before you walk in the aroma of pizza is clouded at the door! As you walk in, on the right hand side you can see the staff make the pizza from scratch! You can take a seat and order when the waiter comes or grab your pizza to go or carry out! My personal favorite is the Hawaiian pizza, don't hate on my pineapple please! The garlic knots with marinara sauce makes you want to lick your fingers even though it's super greasy (worth it)! The only downfall is the drive. It is in Newberry, which is 20 minutes from Gainesville and the parking lot is a little right but the pizza is worth it! The cheesecake was also a hidden gem on the menu! The simple flavor danced in my mouth, I wanted to order an entire wheel! So some advice, do good, be nice and order Villaggios! read more

I am shocked I haven't rated villaggio's yet. This is for my money the best pizza place in Newberry. I know that doesn't sound like a huge compliment but keep it mind that in this rather small town there are 5 different pizza places. Villaggio's is delicious , the staff is always very kind and after just a few visits the owner remembered my name and is always sure to greet me and my family. Grab yourself a large pie and throw in some of their garlic knots and you will have a delicious meal for at least 2 adults and 1 child . I have also been there for lunch and grabbed some of the individual slices and the quality is just as good as when you have the pie made to order. Villaggio's has quickly become a staple in my family's diet. 10/10 would recommend to even the pickiest of eaters. read more

I am a hard core New Yorker so this review is reflective of that fact. Villagio's claims to be authentic New York pizzaria so they set a very high bar for me. I thought the pizza was fairly good. The thin slice was better then the Sicilian which appeared to be pre-made earlier in the day and reheated. My girlfriend had a thin slice cheese and thin slice pepperoni. She thought the pepperoni pizza slice was good. The plain slice with the frozen basil was not very good. We asked for fresh basil and received frozen which surprised us both. I am a hard pizza critic and a pizza snob so take it for what it's worth. Please note the atmosphere and seating were more oriented as a "takeout" place rather then a full service restaurant. They also need to do a better job cleaning the bathrooms. read more
