I cannot speak for the pizza here (although it does look pretty good), because the two times I have been here I have ordered the meatball sub. (If you're coming here do yourself a solid and order it. Trust me.) My second visit was almost two years after the first, but the meatball sub at Americana Pizza hadn't changed a bit. It's ridiculously good. The bread is fresh, crisp on the outside but soft on the inside so that it absorbs the sauce without getting the bread soggy. The cheese is stringy. The sauce is a perfect tomato sauce, on the verge of being almost sweet but not quite there. And of course, the meatball. I've never had a better meatball. Perfect texture. Just the right flavor to make this sandwich an A+ in my book! I couldn't tell you whether this place is all about homemaking their food or how the other menu items are, but this sub is good enough alone to convince me that Americana Pizza deserves 5 stars. Clearly the locals love the place, too, since both times I've been here it's been packed to the brim with guys on their lunch hours.

You can almost miss it because the building looks like a house and the sign out front is pretty faded. Glad we found it! We had already eaten and just stopped for a couple (cheap!) beers. We did see some food coming out which looked and smelled delicious. I love that they open for breakfast every day! As a note to those who need it, unfortunately the premises did not appear to be wheelchair accessible. It is possible there is a back entrance for that and I'll update if I find out more. I am thinking of a day trip one fine fall day starting out with breakfast at Sharp's. Cash only!

There is something about its preparation and flavor that I really like. This past weekend, some twenty+ of my former classmates met up there and had a good time reminiscing and eventually eating. Our food didn't arrive until an hour and a half after we were seated. While disappointing, it's understandable considering the size of our group and I'm sure the staff was trying to have everything served at roughly the same time. The area we were sat at was the lowest level of the split level restaurant. The bulk of the lighting came from a single small window, which seemed somewhat blinding compared to the almost cave-like dim lighting for most of that area. Brighter lighting would be welcome there. So, there's room for improvement, but the food was on point and enjoyed by all.

Last Saturday, I thought it a bit strange to leave the two basketball games and find that the place was closed at 9:00 p.m. Wouldn't people want to order pizza after a game? Tonight, there was only one game and I arrived at 7:30. Everyone working there was friendly. As they were mopping, I thought that they were closing early, even though it said 9:00 p.m. for closing. I ordered a mini pizza with "The Works" and the clerk told me that it would be 6 minutes and asked if that was still okay. I usually wait at least 10 minutes for pizza elsewhere. They didn't ask me to pay until the pizza was done. The price wasn't bad but I had hoped for some pizza + drink special which they didn't have--something other Noble Roman kiosks have. The pizza was good and the ingredients were sufficient. I'll return more than a few times. The Mountain Dew didn't have any funny flavor and the mix was good. I didn't really notice a lot of their prices but they were consistent with a convenience store. Update: They've changed the pizza and it is worse. I took the pizza to the counter to talk to the person working there because it doesn't look anything like The Works pizzas I've had--other than being circular with a crust--and I was told that some of the ingredients were under the cheese now. I was told that they're not buying green peppers any longer. It didn't taste right, so unless I'm having a strong desire for that pizza, I won't return. They're still friendly and helpful but it's just another convenience store now.
