The breadsticks are super good but quite small. The pepperoni pizza was also quite good. The server did a good job but was very busy.

What I didn't know was the Secret of the Amazing Blue Cheese Bacon Burger! Yeah, it's expensive, and doesn't come with any sides, but it's worth it. waste of money. pizza over cooked no sauce and the cheese pizza I ordered for the kids was so bad they wouldn't eat it. it had hardly any sauce the crust was hard and there wasn't even enough cheese on it to call it a cheese pizza. I will not buy this pizza from this location ever again I have had nothing but bad pizza the last 3 times I've ordered it. I was able to get it fixed once but this last time I'm not even wasting my time. I just will never eat here again. It's a shame too because it was a convenient location for me but the pizza has been so bad its not worth it. read more

I have many mixed reviews on this location as I have had good pizzas and very very bad ones. Over the years I have noticed that the amount of toppings have gotten less and less and the prices have gone way up. One of the things I do notice frequently when we order pizza from here is either the crust is over cooked and burnt or it is raw. When it is burnt, can taste that burnt flavor throughout the entire pizza when it is raw you just have this gummy texture of the raw dough which is very offputting. When I do order pizza from here, my personal favorite is the royal feast, but with barbecue sauce instead of the regular sauce. We will also sometimes order the breadsticks, but you have to order them half baked, which is a secret many do not know about. When you order them half baked, they are still cooked all the way on the inside, but they are not tough. We used to order them with the dill butter, but the sauce is not as good as it used to be. We actually have three locations for pizza king pizza in town. Growing up, my families, favorite location to go to was called Top Hat Two on Q Ave. This location offered the best cooked pizza with the perfect amount of toppings from any other location. However, many years later, it is not nearly as good as it used to be. Again it is due to the lack of toppings, as well as either having the pizza burnt or raw. If you've never been to a pizza king, I would suggest giving it a try because it is a completely different type of pizza than what most people are used to do to the way the toppings are done. Unfortunately, the prices are also much higher than many other pizza restaurants. The average price for a large 16 inch royal feast pizza will run you approximately $36 for the pizza alone. The breadsticks are also very pricey at five dollars for five breadsticks. read more

It breaks my heart to give this old time favorite a less than glowing review but it is the only honest thing to do. At best the pizza is extremely inconsistent over the last year and a half. I went almost a whole year after having two terrible pizza's. A few months ago I decided to give Top Hat a try and was pleasantly surprised. I had a couple very good pizzas and hoped the rough patch they had was behind. I had a 10 in Royal Feast tonight and could not manage to eat the 3 pieces I put on my plate. I am throwing over 75% of this pizza away. The sauce was thick and tomatoey almost like tomato paste from a can. The toppings were not spread to the edge nor did they cover the tomato paste blah taste. The tomato "sauce" almost seemed cold but the crust was done and crisp so maybe it was just the thick tomato paste consistency that did not make it appear hot. I have eaten at this location since the 60's and until the last couple of years had never once had a bad pizza. Now it seems to be a 50/50 shot of getting a good pizza over bad. I know the restaurant industry is struggling getting quality foods from suppliers at a reasonable price if at all with distribution issues. Maybe the current state of affairs is the reason for the decline or something other having more to do with management or corporate policy I do not know. Whatever the reason for hit and miss quality I hope it is fixed ASAP. It will be some time before I try this specific Pizza King again. The only positive which boosted the review to two stars was the friendly woman on the phone that took my order and it was ready when I drove up. read more

Last night $48 pizza and bread sticks from top hat...have never had a worse royal feast and burnt bread sticks. Very disappointing The pizza had very little topping, it looked more like a little bit of sausage, a few mushrooms and some cheese; reminded me of a cheap frozen pizza (the next morning); I am sure it wasn't a royal feast. I often eat lunch here with a group of myself all the way up to seven or eight people. I think I have pretty much tried everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. If I had to pick which is my favorite I would have to say it's a tie between the breaded tenderloin and the meat pizza. Pictured is the breaded tenderloin, and their onion rings. Will have to say I am all the onion rings I've had they are in the top five. I also have their half baked bread sticks which are awesome. I used to love TopHat on Broad Street. I went there as a kid, and I went there every Friday night and many Sundays with my Grandpa during my first year of college. I had my rehearsal dinner there for my wedding. It was always great. I get that things have changed since COVID. I know they don't have enough people. The waitress that we had was trying hard, but there needed to be a couple more of her. They lost our order tonight - for the second time in less than a year. When I asked the manager what he was going to do to make me want to come back, he said "hopefully fix the staffing issues." That's really not an answer that makes me want to go back. It's too expensive for "hopefully." Perhaps the "manager" should have gotten out of the kitchen and off his phone and helped the waitress a little. Wow! Can't even believe this... Whoever took our take-out order was high as a kite, answering the phone, "Thank you for calling... Uhhh... Thanks for calling... Uhhh.. What can I get you? " When we tried to order a Royal Feast, she asked if that was a pizza?? We asked for breadsticks, and she insisted she know how we want them cooked... Well done, baked, or half-baked. My husband suggested she was half-baked and told her to forget the breadsticks. This brought on a couple of minutes of laughter from the employee. After a very long conversation of repeating name, phone number, zip code (??), we finally ordered. The pick-up was no better, a 10" pizza was $27?? Upon questioning this, my husband found out we had been billed for breadsticks and a drink as well, which we didn't get, or order. We still paid $23 which is way over the listed pricing. He asked to talk to a manager, but he was busy laughing it up with the girl who took our order and didn't seem to have a problem with her behavior, so he just left. Actually this pizza is SO popular that New Castle/Henry County actually has at least 5 versions of Pizza King restaurants! I even "smuggled" frozen Pizza King pizza with my mom on an airplane to California in the late 80's! I'm shocked to see there aren't any reviews of the Pizza King and feel slightly privileged that I'm writing the first one! Pizza King is one of those places that I remember from childhood when we visited my grandparents in New Castle, it hasn't changed a bit over the years, I was happy to see that they still have the paper bags in which to wrap the to-go orders and left overs, nothing has changed in all these years. Pizza King is very much a part of New Castle, one of those places that we have to go to when we visit a couple times a year. The interior isn't really much to speak of, standard booths and tables, nothing fancy and the decor is pretty bland but who really cares! The pizza is like a combination of cracker crust with a little more dough to give it that perfect crunch with a little more substance, awesome! The toppings are a little different as well, the pepperoni and sausage seems to be almost ground which ensures that they cover a good portion of the pizza as opposed to big slices of pepperoni. All in all I love Pizza King, I hope they never change! Every time I go it's like revisiting a slice of my childhood trips to New Castle. read more

I normally love Pizza King and this Pizza King especially but this past Sunday night we ordered a 16' pepperoni and sausage, a spaghetti dinner and an order of breadsticks and all of the food was hardly edible. The breadsticks were burnt, the pizza was was way over baked and hard hardly any toppings or cheese and the spaghetti dinner looked as though it was for a child with its very small portion. It all cost $40 and that would have been fine had it been worth eating. Needless to say we were very disappointed and will not be returning to this Pizza King location again, we will go to the PK on Memorial next time. I just returned from New Castle, IN for a wedding. Our family ate their after rehearsal one night. The food was very good as well as the service. The lady waiting on us was very nice. We had the pepperoni pizza along with salads. Some had sandwiches, which they said was some of the best they have had. If your ever in New Castle I would recommend you try it. read more

This is probably the best Pizza King location out there! The lunch servers are always so friendly and fast. And they do a great job of preparing your food. Today's Royal Feast had a lot of well distributed toppings. The Big Sir was toasted just right and really, really good. Half-baked breadsticks were delicious.
