Stopped in for a quick pizza & beer on Tuesday evening. We hadn't been here in several months and they still remembered us. Heard great things about Pizza King, so decided to give it a try. Ordering from the table with a phone was new, but we had several separate checks, so they just sent the waitress to the table. The sweet tea tasted pre-packaged. I know they are up north, and being from the south, we are particular about our sweet tea, but avoiding the tea is probably best. The pizza crust was very good, but the chicken on my pizza has practically ZERO flavor. Again, maybe it's a southern thing, but some salt and pepper is a basic minimum for flavoring meat, even if it's going on a pizza with cheese and sauce. This by far was the worst Italian food experience I have ever had, hands DOWN!!! For my birthday my beautiful wife told me to order from Pizza King as I have never had it before and we are new to the area. People rave about the sweet memories that Pizza King has brought them over the year and I decided that we should share the experiences and become a true part of the Muncie community. Boy was I wrong!!! In a nut shell the food was sooooo bad I had to go and doctor it up from spices I had in the cabinet. The Stromboli's were tasteless, it was soft like a Burrito, and the "Alfredo" was cold noddles with oil sauce and a hint of processed cheese. The garlic bread seems to have been the finest store bought Texas toast poor Jesters could buy. Back to the Stromboli's. I'm so blessed that they decided to wrap the premium Alpo in those tasteless flour burrito shells. At least they did mix it with a heaping plethora of onions and old peppers. Boy we were lucky.....hold on....I got to barf...be brb.... Wow thanks for waiting....wow that looked just like coming out as going in... in closing this place was a disaster and I will never ever eat at Pizza King again. Ok, let me just say this...if you are from the Muncie or Anderson area, you probably think that Pizza King rocks and you crave it when you live away from the area. When you come into town, it is the only place you want to go, or at least the first place you want to go. You dream of Royal Feast when you live out of state and can't eat it. The Yorktown and Tillotson Ave. restaurants are the best. (I have heard the the Elwood, IN Pizza King is wonderful, but I have not been there personally.) If you are not local and didn't grow up eating Pizza King, then it may not be your favorite. Most everyone from out of the area that we have taken to Pizza King, does not particulary like it, or thinks it is just ok. The Royal Feast pizza is the best, but I also like their pizza with BBQ sauce. As I recall, they have pretty good sandwiches too, but I have not eaten a sandwich there for years. Some of my earliest memories of Pizza King were riding my bike over to the one on Bethel Avenue and bringing a submarine sandwich home. If there was another pizza place back in the late 60's I did not know about it. So my pizza always came in square pieces. The Yorktown restaurant is relatively new. It has the telephone ordering system at each of the tables. They are fine with pushing several tables together to accommodate large groups. Our favorite pizza is the Royal Feast with extra cheese. Next favorite for me is the BBQ ham with extra cheese. The Yorktown store does not have a salad bar which is too bad. The jukebox is one of the new electronic ones. Big selection of tunes, but is more expensive than the old kinds of jukeboxes. read more

Hi I'm a anonymous customer that's been eating at the Yorktown Pizza King,I just wanna take the time to say their restaurant is very dirty, they prioritize money over a safe and clean kitchen. Some of the Managers like to scream at people and be extremely rude. The pizza is not worth the money you pay for it. If you're looking for a cool place to chill and work your butt off and make some money think again! the snooty servers ( there are still some great people working hard don't get me wrong!) And workers that make fun of people or talk about them behind their back and management completely ignores it. It's sad to see others get stressed out and blow up because of how other people treat them. It's a very stressful job and people should realize half of that problem is created when bosses aren't paying attention to their employees or the work environment. The best Pizza King in the area with the Tillotson location coming in a close second. It is a little pricey(about 55 dollars for a large Royal Feast, large BBQ baked ham, and 2 orders of sticks), bit it is a price I'm willing to pay a couple times a month. The place is always clean and the employees are always pleasant. The only gripe I might have is when picking up an order to go, the time frame they give isn't always accurate. Understanding they get busy very quickly, I understand that guessing how long it will take to get an order ready isn't going to be an exact science, so I will never give them flack over that. I don't normally write poor reviews, and stick to the rule "if you don't have anything to say, don't say it at all." However, I have consistently received poor delivery and ordering service from this location. Tonight was the worst. After ordering (and this is not the first time they say they can't hear on the phone), they took my number and called me back to tell me my total and charge. They said that there was one order ahead of mine, and it would take 40 minutes. After an hour and a half, I contacted them back. First, they said they tried to "call and call and call" me to tell me there was a problem with my card, but probably had the wrong phone number. I stated that they contacted me regarding the charge, so they did have the correct number. Then, I was told "the card was invalid" (not true...it has $0 charges on it and a $7k limit) but still stuck with they "called and called and called and no one answered." (Yes, I had my phone on me, and no I did not receive a call--no message left). I was pleasant, and did not get frustrated until the worker on the line raised his voice and said "MA'AM....IM NOT GOING TO ARGUE WITH YOU. IM JUST TELLING YOU WHATS HAPPENING OVER HERE." I was offered to give the credit card number again because "maybe we wrote it down wrong," but the order would take another 40 minutes. Again, in the grand scheme of the universe, not getting a pizza delivered is a first-world whine. But--pizza aside--I don't like being lied to, or treated rudely. Anyone from central Indiana is familiar with Pizza King - they know we all love our Pizza King pizzas. But this particular Pizza King is very inconsistent with quality and especially service. You might as well turn around and leave if they're busy because it will take way too long to get your food. Tonight was the second experience like this in the past 2 months. And tonight we did leave. Previously after complaining to the manager TWICE we did finally get all of our order. Tonight the phone person couldn't even get our order straight so I suggested she get someone on the phone who could. She stated she would send a waitress to our table . . . after 10 minutes no waitress (even though 2 different ones walked by our table at least 3 times) so our party of 3 left . . . went down the road to our local Mexican restaurant where we were waited on immediately (like always) and received our order within 15min. The MANAGER DEB came out and WANTED TO MAKE MY 13 YEAR OLD KEEP AND PAY FOR A PIZZA THAT SHE DIDN'T LIKE! She finally gave in and swapped out the pizza for a plain pepperoni after much ordeal. If a customer doesn't like something what happened to good customer service and just exchanging the item. then I get to the register to pay and the KITCHEN was NASTY! FOOD WAS EVERYWHERE ON THE FLOOR,ON THE COUNTERS, DIRT ON THE COUNTERS AND FLOORS. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I couldn't believe it. then to top it off the same manager, DEB, who wanted to argue about swapping out the pizza, was the person who checked me out. She wanted to charge me extra for a topping that wasn't extra. after waiting an hour for our food, having to argue about exchanging a food item, witnessing pure nastiness in their kitchen, then to top it off you want to charge me extra for something. get a clue! I just have to say that this Pizza King doesn't usually get a bad review from me, however on Sunday, June 15,2014 we did not have a good expierence. First of all, our 7-year old grandson is having stomach issues and we just wanted to know how much fat was in your breadsticks. No one knew anything about it. Then my son and son-in-law went to pick up our order which was $86.00 and were told that they ran out of sausage. We had sausage on all but one pizza!!! And its Father's Day!!! And you aren't stocked up!!! Give me a break. They had to wait until someone went to get more sausage and make our pizzas. They did give our guys a free coke. Then while cooking one pizza they forgot to put pineapple on it so they said they would make another one and just give us the original one too. OK. Now when the order came due, we were given a 20% discount. OK. When the guys got home, a hour and a half later, the Meat Lovers Pizza didn't even have any cheese on it. The pizzas looked like they were made by grade schoolers. They were out of shape, with not a lot of cheese on them and the crust was very thin and burnt in spots. Not the standard that we are used to!!!! I have to say it may be a while before we go there again and pay such high prices for this pizza. I was born and raised in Muncie and have enjoyed Pizza King for most of my life. Unfortunately this past Sunday I received very poor service. This is how it went. I ordered my Pizza just a 10 inch royal feast at 5:33 pm. at 6:47 I called Pizza King to see if my order was still coming. I was put on hold for five minutes while the employee checked to see what happened. Finally I hung up and called back only to be put on hold again for another 3 minutes then the line went dead. About 30 seconds later the original employee who took my order called back to apologize and say she forgot to place my order I told her I understand that things happen and I was OK with it. I then asked her to bring me a side of barbecue when they bring my order and there should be no charge because the last time they delivered they forgot my side order of barbecue. I forgot to tell them earlier, but I had called back when they forgot the side of barbecue on a previous order about 2 week ago. They said no problem. Finally at approximately 7:45 my pizza arrived! Almost another hour wow. So I am finally going to eat over two hours after I started this process. Here is the kicker the pizza is cold, the crust is rubbery and NO SIDE OF BARBECUE! I sent a complaint to the website with no reply or apology. I will continue to write online reviews until I get a phone call or return answer. Im not looking for anything free just a sincere apology. As a business owner for 25 years I take care of my problems with a sincere apology and or an explanation this is not acceptable.
