Anyone know what's going on with Pizza Marsala in Irwin? There food used to be really good. Last three times we ordered pizza, it was burnt, hard and hardly any cheese. Two of the pizzas were red sauce one a white pizza. I find them a little pricey but it used to be worth it, no more. I don't know if they have new people cooking or what. Normally the service is good. Today. I ordered a delivery and after an hour wait I called. I offered to go and pick the order as they said they were busy. It is Halloween. I was told it was already out. 38 minutes later I called and was told it was just going to be made! At 1 1/2 hour after placing the online order. I couldn't wait any longer as we were leaving. I canceled the order and asked for a refund. I would be less unsatisfied if the person I spoke to at one hour had actually looked and saw our order wasn't yet made. Attention to details matters. Oh and the order I placed online was completely different than the order they confirmed. I was willing to go with that, but the delay was unacceptable. My advice is to insist they check that your order is actually out for delivery when it is past due. read more

When placing the order I was very rudely told that it would be at least an hour if not more for delivery being as they only had 1 driver. I was understanding but I did not appreciate the attitude. I still tipped very generously after receiving my lukewarm food. Quality was not worth the money I paid. Again I did not appreciate the attitude and will not be ordering from there again. Food is good for after a few drinks. Not something I'd get on the regular. Everyone is nice and all.

I had company over last night and we placed a large order ($100+). Close to every item ordered had an issue. The fried calamari was horribly overdone, burnt to a crisp and pure shoe leather. The fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp... was spaghetti with sauce pooled at the bottom and BABY SALAD SHRIMP. Laughable. The seafood calzone with "crabmeat" was imitation crabmeat, not real crabmeat (this can be a real issue as imitation crabmeat, AKA surimi, is made with sugar and starches that some people, like myself, have severe allergies to--- not to mention that it is FRAUDULENT to sell something as "crabmeat" when its simply not), and... again the teeny tiny baby salad shrimp. Not to mention that it was so disgustingly greasy! Literally gobs and gobs of oil everywhere. We ordered a fish hoagie with no onions... it came with onions. The wings that were supposed to be garlic and mild came with zero sauce whatsoever. Honestly it was so bad that we went down there today to talk to the manager, face to face. I took pictures of everything, and I really wanted to level to her as one professional to another that this was really unacceptable. I cook for a living myself, and as a small business owner I always value customer feedback because it lets me know what improvements I could be making. The woman started off extremely defensive (at one point angrily saying "this isn't a 5 star gourmet restaurant"--- which FYI is not what I expected by any means, but I do expect orders to be right and cooked properly and not to receive inedible garbage). After the plethora of pictures though, she seemed to understand the issues and said she'd relay my message to the owner and they'd be in touch with me at some point. Well, the owner never even bothered to talk to me directly. The manager simply called back and offered me a lousy token $25 refund on a $100+ order of total garbage. Whatever, that's fine. I'm not going to argue the point with people who clearly don't care about improving their business, and a refund was never why I wanted to speak to them in the first place, but it really just goes to show how little they value customers. My advice? Avoid this place at all costs. The food is disgusting. Burnt, greasy, inaccurate. And the staff just doesn't care whatsoever. read more

However, as of today Pizza Marsala gets my stamp of approval for best pizza in Irwin. Cheese pizza or the speciality pizzas you honestly can't go wrong. My wife and I have been looking for a replacement since Cafe Supreme was sold. Our orders here have been fairly successful, just a few hiccups. Tonight was interesting. I placed an order for three entrees - I requested a Gyro platter, received just the Gyro. We like our steak a little on the rare side (I know how their steak is), and requested that they do not run the steak back through the broiler the second time. When we received the hoagie, it was overcooked. The fettucini was mediocre at best. My wife called the store, and the person who answered the phone told her that I did not order the Gyro Platter, and she cooked the steak personally. As I said in the beginning, we are still looking for a replacement restaurant for Cafe Supreme. I do not like to use my background, but I will here. I graduated from a culinary school, and worked in the quick service industry for over 20 years. The one big skill I learned is the customer is always right (usually). I really wish the local restaurants would take care of their customers better. This make three that we will not longer patronize. Well, their pizza is pretty good and we will still order that item. I had read a previous comment that a customer was told that this is not a gourmet restaurant. We realize that, but that does not prevent great customer service and the food cooked to the customer's request. read more

The pizza has been mediocre at best the last several times we've ordered. It's been over cooked and on the verge of being burnt. I ordered here for the first time today. We had a small family get-together and were looking for something quick. I was happy when I called about the delivery area and the gentleman said that we lived within range. The order was delivered in slightly less than the estimated one hour, which was not bad at all considering it was Saturday evening with college football on television! The delivery driver was pleasant and friendly. We ordered pizza, pepperoni rolls, cheese balls and fried dough. We couldn't pick a favorite because everything was delicious! Ordered a seafood calzone and a can of Coke on the advice of a friend. $16.98. I tipped $5.02 to the driver. So, $22 for a dinner (a little expensive). First, I got a Pepsi, not a Coke. The Monroeville Pizza Marsala is great. The food is tasty and there's a large variety, more than most other pizza places. The chicken tenderloins are always cooked perfectly. The buffalo chicken pizza is beyond tasty. Try the broccoli puffs, surprising combination of breading and broccoli but very good. The beef ravioli tastes like homemade (the GOOD homemade, not the 'omg, what is this?' homemade). I've even eaten salads from there (don't tell anyone or they may take away my man card), and they're very good as well. Antipasto has a nice amount of non-salad, aka MEAT. This is our go to pizza place. We've had only one problem with them and they happily fixed it. The drivers are always friendly and professional. Our standard order is always delicious. The person who answers the phone may not sound very friendly but she means business and your order will be correct. The pizza isn't greasy and the salads are never brown. My wife ordered a large pizza and a small Pizza October 31st, went to pick it up for 6 p.m., and the pizza wasn't ready I had to sit there for 40 minutes and finally they called me up to the counter to pick it up. That's pretty lousy service, and also the large pizza, when we opened up the box the pepperoni topping was scattered so unevenly it was pathetic. Looks like they need to get their act together over there, or hire some new people to work for them that know what they're doing. What it boils down to it's the owner's fault. The best in the Irwin/North Huntingdon area! Their app makes ordering a snap. The presentation of the pizzas are excellent. I never thought about presentation for pizza before, but they really go the extra mile. It looks picture perfect when it arrives! The sauce is excellent, just the right amount of oregano. This is a crapshoot (LITERALLY AND FIGURATIVELY) every time I order because it's close to home, we have ordered dozens of times. Hoagies/subs are great...I Italian and a steak. Have had the wings, but they're always over cooked and last week for the final time in ordering there we got sick again! Far as the pizza... Massive issue! Taste great going down, but wait just a few short hours and you will regret every bite. I will never order their pizza again. I thought it was a fluke the first time, forgot about it ordered it again, made the entire family sick and finally the last time we ordered pizza everyone had massive diarrhea immediately after eating it. We will never order pizza from there again. Actually will never probably eat anything from there again. Some kind of cross-contamination is going on in this place. I've never been inside Pizza Marsala, only ordered to go or had food delivered. Pizza is fine, hoagies are fine, overall okay. But, with so many pizza places in Irwin, that's not quite enough. So, here's my most recent experience, which has completely turned me off from ordering here again: we ordered food for delivery about a week ago - one taco salad and one steak salad. Were told 45 mins to 1 hour, typical. Food arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes later...fries, steak, taco meat, and cheese - all cold. Not luke warm...cold. We ended up taking all of the non-veggie toppings off the salads and heating them in the microwave. Didn't help, both tasted horrible! Other bad points: 1) 'steak salad" was steak-ums, not very appealing. 2) Taco salad: When I ordered, the guy on the phone asked what type of dressing I wanted. I asked if they had sour cream and salsa....nope. Well, that sucked. Anyway, the taco salad was so greasy, grease was the whole way to the bottom, under all of the lettuce. Again, with all of the other pizza choices in Irwin, Pizza Marsala just fell to the bottom of this girl's list. read more

Very disappointed. Called order in, was using coupon that came on panneysaver paper to TRY the pizza out, never had before so thought I use coupon to try it. And mainly I was taking a dinner to a sick person from our church. (One for them and one for us)When I went to pick up they charged me a different coupon, 11.99 instead of 7.99. And I got two, so that's a 8.00 different. I did not have that money. They wouldn't work with me at. I should ve walked out. But I had to take one to the other family.
