Should've known the quality level by the high end signs written on paper plates taped to the filthy, greasy windows. Inside smells like cockroach guano. Floors and walls filmed with ages of cheap ingredients foul cook-off. Staff was a bit reminiscent of "Deliverance". Lots of teeth and wary looks. The only reason I went in is because I saw it a few times in passing and it looked like a hippy-type exterior so I thought maybe someone might give a shit about the business, but nope. I'm sure the roaches eat well. As for the pizza? Uff. It looked like hardened yellow glue on a piece of cardboard with some ketchup between. You all should be ashamed of yourselves, and stay away from your sisters! They are not valid girlfriends or mothers of your children! read more

I've grabbed lunch here a couple of times in the past week as we've started moving into our new home in Rock Hill. It's a perfectly fine pizza joint, and I expect we'll be ordering here for years to come. Takeout service was solid both times. I waited on my takeout order the first time, and it came out quickly. The second time I called ahead, and it was ready when I arrived. They are not doing indoor dining at the moment, but they do have picnic tables around the restaurant (the snow flurries and rain on my two visits made this a moot point). Their prices offer good value. $2.10 a slice and $12.75 for a large plain pie is a bargain compared to the Westchester prices I am used to. Ditto the chick parm hero/wedge/sandwich at $8.25. The food itself passes muster. The plain slice I ordered was foldable, which is a reasonably impressive achievement 90 miles away from Manhattan. The chick parm wedge was hot and stuffed to the gills with cheese, sauce, and bird. It was all textbook, if otherwise unremarkable, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. Pizza the Rock meets the standard, and I don't think we'll ever hesitate to grab a pie or a wedge here when we're hungry. read more

Ordered a chicken parm hero. First of all what chicken parm isn't breaded and fried ? It was plain chicken, no breading , that had a tin to of yellow color and tasted as if it was old . Very disappointed ! read more

We ordered several sandwiches and takeout items. All were soggy covered in sour sauce, and the specific directions we gave for each sandwich was completely ignored not to mention the fact that we couldn't read any of the writing on the sandwiches to figure out what was what. We stopped here on our way to my son's university. It was, in ONE word, awful. They seemed thrown off by our ordering a few slices of pizza and a hamburger and fries for our son. We were seated in the dirty, sticky dining area (bathroom dirty too) and waited more than THIRTY minutes for three slices of pizza! It was soggy, undercooked and flavorless. I'll be honest with you. The only reason we got off the highway is because my wife had to use the restroom. Women, amirite guys?* Going forward, my new reasons for getting off the highway here: 1. The biggest chicken parm hero I've ever even eaten. 2. Served by the nicest people I've ever met. 3. The most adorable Christmas decorations I've ever seen in slice joint. 4. Excellent homemade cookies by the register. 5. Superheroes. Not every eatery has Captain America, The Hulk, AND Ironman guarding the front doors. Now, to be fair, this was not the best chicken parm hero I've ever had (nor was the Sicilian slice anything to e-mail Mom about). But it was damn tasty, and very affordable. Did I mention it was the biggest thing I'd ever seen? We purchased a meatball parm hero and a chicken parm hero. We were very disappointed with both. There was very little sauce if any on either. There was plenty of room for a meatball on each end of the hero, but there was nothing, no sauce and no meatball, just dry bread. The chicken hero also had dry bread on each end. The chicken was dry and had little taste. The only bright spot was the young woman that waited on us. She was friendly and polite. We will not be going back. read more

My wife called for delivery tonight... Woman on the phone was clearly annoyed and unpleasant. Rather than put us on hold, she set the phone down and we could hear her and other staff complaining and making rude/nasty and offensive comments about us. Made us not want to eat food prepared by the staff we could hear. One would think during these trying times, folks would appreciate their business more. I'm sure their boss is going to be upset if he/she reads about this. We canceled our order and told the woman that we could hear everything they said. Woman basically admitted guilt and weakly apologized. We used to order here on a regular basis!!! Never again, sorry. I would be very embarrassed. So great. The food is delicious and the service is so pleasant, too. I had chicken parmigiana hero tonight, and high marks for the sauce, cheese, bread, it was a great size and a great price, just totally satisfying in every way. When I moved here from Queens, I was worried that there wouldn't be good food in the area, but wow was I wrong. So delicious. For the record, I've had the rock burger a couple times and it was awesome. It's a lot of fun to think about stopping in for a special meal, I'm so full right now, but I can't wait to try another thing on the menu next time. read more

My family has been stopping at Pizza the Rock for over a decade on trips back and forth from the city to Binghamton. They used to have ice cream inside but no longer. They don't need it! The pizza is always fresh and delicious, a perfect example of what NY pizza should be. It's on the way to the city, so I always look forward to stopping for a few slices when I drive to Binghamton to see my parents. The last time I stopped I brought my dog and my fiancé. The woman (believe she owns the place) who was at the counter not only served is amazing pizza as usual, but brought it out to us on plates and even offered to get some water for our puppy. She brought her kids out to meet the pup as well, which was fun. Pizza the rock is one of my favorite places! While I haven't tried anything other than the 'za, I don't need to. However, once you leave the city, quality and the perfect slice is impossible to come by. However, Planet The Rock completely changed everything. Located in Rock Hill, New York's Sullivan County, this establishment has the pizza making process mastered. The crust is cooked to perfection. They obviously make their sauce home made. I had the King of the Hill sandwich. I'd buy it again. It wasn't just any combo sub: PTR actually TOASTED the bread,which brought out whole new flavors. The meats were fresh tasting and the sandwich didn't have that "heavy" feel that too many combo subs do. Next trip through I'm going for a hot meal, which most other folks there were having. Me and my buddy decided to grab a whole pie and eat at his place so this review is for take out rather than eat-in and it's for the Pizza only. So the phone call in - sadly had some problems connecting with the people at Pizza The Rock, but after a little "what?...no i want a hawaiian pizza...what?" We ordered our Hawaiian pizza (ham and pineapple) and went to pick it up. When we got it - i decided to get an order of wings as well. The wings were cooked fine, but the buffalo sauce was a lot lacking - and the size of the wings were pretty small compared to other places i've been. The Pizza on the other hand was piping hot, with a good portion of cheeze and rivals any pretty good pizza place in Manhattan (where i'm from). The pineapple slices were sweet and flavorful after being cooked and the ham was sliced ham. The Pizza was tasty and after 3 slices (i couldn't eat half the pie) - i felt totally satisfied, sat home with a beer and just chilled out. read more

I love this place!!! Their pizza is yummy as is everything else I've ever ordered here. Their fries are particularly yummy. Something about them...can't pinpoint it, but they are delicious.
