A birthday celebration to remember! I planned this trip weeks ago without even knowing this gem of a restaurant was located inside the casino. The decor and ambiance was great. Our waiter was amazing and broke down everything that interest us on the menu with honesty. I ordered the NY Strip, Brussels and Mac n cheese. My wife ordered the salmon. Everything we ordered was delicious but the bread stole the show. I know, kind of ridiculous but the bread was amazing. I also enjoyed the Brussels, very different from how I have had them in other restaurants. My wife fell in love with the Mac n Cheese, the bread crumb crunch was bomb. One of the best dinners I've ever had. Went with another couple who made the reservation as we were staying the night at the hotel. We started with the meat and cheese platter which was so good. Nice fresh meats and cheeses. We then had the meatballs which were stuffed with smoke mozzarella and something else crispy on the outside. I went with the tagliatelle bolognese for dinner. My NY strip with blue cheese sauce was well worth the money and my friend enjoyed his skirt steak (I tried a bit, too- flavorful!). The physical space and decor is lovely. Comfortable spacious seats permit you a relatively private experience even if there are lots of other guests. The grandeur of the modern minimalist space - and the price range - gave me great expectations for my dining experience. Service was good for the time. Although ours seemed not to have answers to some of my questions about the menu (like what a listed ingredient is), and took a while to get back to my table with the answers, we can forgive this due to the current context (we also sat with dirty plates between courses for a while). Other than the slowness, the service was relatively good and attentive. (There were several tables and few staff - a problem all restaurants are facing right now understandably). I was there for a birthday and really enjoyed the detail of a lovely gelato dessert after dinner to celebrate. After the rush, service was quick and attentive. Onto the menu - it was ambitious. The first three drinks I picked from the drink list were unavailable. The food came out quickly and with a nice presentation. Obviously this is a steak house but they really have an Italian menu so I couldn't resist ordering grilled octopus. Not the worst I've ever had - not terribly over cooked but definitely bland. Bibb salad is rich and tasty. Would definitely recommend this to indulge. Our steak was small - the skirt steak, so it was easy to over cook. The sauce I asked for - the wine reduction was pretty much just wine, which made the steak kind of soggy and unpleasant. Not the best flavor combination. If I go back I would definitely try a heartier steak and a different sauce. The table got fresh warm breads with unique dipping sauces. This was a fantastic detail I really enjoyed - few places ever give a sourdough olive bread to start! So yummy. The dessert I got for my birthday was a gelato - it was amazing. The service was very slow, we didn't see our waitress for about 30 minutes. I asked for no prosciutto in my salad as I do not eat meat, but they put it in anyway. The Salmon was very bland and without flavor and the piece was very small. My friends steak was a bit tough. They did take off the price of the salad, and bought us a round of drinks after we complained. I am generally pretty easy to please, but this was my first time there and I was very disappointed, especially for the price. The ambience is nice, however, the booths when you first come in should be facing the other way like the other booths, nobody should have to be looking into the kitchen, and one of the tables was practically in the kitchen hallway. Cellaio is one of the best steak houses, that I have had the pleasure of enjoying. Billed as an Italian steak house, it does not fail to live up to the title (I've eaten in steak houses in Firenze, so I have tasted what I and many others believe is the best). Every plate is exquisite and delicious. When you are at Cellaio you cannot make a bad menu choice. The steaks are cooked to perfection, with hot pink centers and filled with succulent juices. Oh and do try the mac and cheese side dish, I am willing to bet you've never had mac and cheese like this before. The dish is smothered in gooey mouth watering cheese and the "mac" is a heavenly vehicle for soaking up the cheese and transporting it to your mouth. Cellaio is not the place to come and eat if you are not really hungry, or in a hurry. You have to savor the experience. The staff are warm and friendly, the atmosphere delightful, the wine list outstanding. At Cellaio everything encourages you to sit, eat, and enjoy. Re: Dinner Reservation on December 7, 2024 I am writing to review the Alder Hotel and Cellaio Steve Conant Restaurant. I was a guest of the Alder Hotel on December 7, 2024. I reserved the hotel and made a dinner reservation at the Steakhouse for 7:30 to celebrate my brother's 50th Birthday. I am forwarding this e-mail which indicates my reservation was canceled via OPEN TABLE because it is not true. See attached photos of my brother and I seated at a table in the restaurant this past Saturday My brother and I actually arrived at the restaurant a half hour earlier than our 7:30 p.m. Dinner reservation. It appears that the restaurant staff/manager reported that our reservation was cancelled to avoid receiving a bad review. This is why I am sending this to guest services. Our Experience: I reserved a table at the Cellaio Scott Conant Steakhouse at Resorts World Catskills in New York for December 7, 2024 to celebrate my brother's 50th Birthday. We arrived a half hour early for our 7:30 p.m. reservation confirmed via Open Table. We were told to come back at 7:30 p.m. "on time" because they could not seat us earlier. We waited outside of the restaurant and checked in again at 7:30 p.m. We were told we had to wait a while longer. After about 10 to 15 minutes we were seated. Our waiter shared the specials and took our drink order within 5 to 10 minutes. We received our Sprite and Wine as well as a basket of bread. We then waited for another hour and a half and received no meal and just one visit from our waiter asking if we wanted more bread.. We declined the bread and was told the kitchen is backed up. We asked for the manager and was told several times by staff that they were sending the manager over to our table. By this time my brother was frustrated and hungry so we decided to leave because this was not a good way to celebrate the evening of his 50th Birthday. Upon exiting and attempting to pay for our drinks the manager suddenly appeared and told that we didn't have to pay for the drinks. He seemed very confused. Needless to say we received the worst service ever for a restaurant of this caliber. We are still puzzled why everyone around us appeared to come, eat and then leave and we remained seated without our food or anyone offering us anything as we waited or providing some explanation for the delay.. We had no other choice but to conclude that the waiter had an issue serving us because we are African American. The rude treatment began from the reception and continued through the exchange with the manager at our departure. We cannot give our opinion on any food because we never received it but this particular Saturday evening birthday celebration was ruined by the extremely poor customer service. The hotel staff reception at the Alder Hotel was also terrible. The staff acts like zombies and was very loud and obnoxious while checking us in. They acted as if we were bothering them... As for the birthday dinner, I took my brother to the adjacent diner where he enjoyed a steak. The staff at the diner was much better and we have no complaints about the Diner. We ate there because there were no other food options other than Chinese food... We did our best to make the most of the rest of the evening. We will never visit this Steakhouse or the Resorts World Catskills Hotel Casino again. read more

Before you enter, the outside of the restaurant has some displays of their aged meats and fine wines. Absolutely gorgeous! Walking in, the decor is modern, tasteful, and elegant. I knew we were in for a really wonderful dining experience as soon as we got there. We were seated at a table near the middle of the restaurant with views of the wine fridge, beautiful chandeliers, and centerpieces. We ordered some cocktails and appetizers. Wow!! All I can say is from the first sip my palate was happy! Great cocktails, beautiful frutti misto appetizer- out of this world. And we didn't even have dinner yet!! Dinner was Chef Scott's signature Pasta Al Pomodoro- cannot even begin to describe how absolutely amazing this pasta is. I'm Italian and it's the BEST pasta dish I've ever been served in my life. Meatballs with fregola- the flavors in these meatballs!! My husband had NY strip- totally mouth watering, expertly prepared. I simply cannot use enough positive adjectives to describe Cellaio. For a restaurant with such great food, they have really poor service. Let's just get that out of the way right off the start. The hostess was phenomenal, our waiter was the pits. We ordered drinks and actually had to retrieve them ourselves from the bar because he didn't come back for 15+ minutes. Service was slow and inattentive the whole night. BUT THE FOOD! The food is exquisite! We had the shrimp cocktail, ribeye, strip steak, baked potato, carrots and the Brussels. The steaks were cooked to perfection, the sauce accompaniments were spot on, the sides were delicious and definitely shareable. The drinks were well made by the bartender as well. Any time we stay at Resorts we make sure to make a reservation at Cellaio Steak because we are huge fans of Scott's and every since we ate there the first time we were completely hooked . Even with all the Covid restrictions we were so comfortable and felt completely as ease dining there . We were greeted by a masked server which was a huge plus , all tables were more then 6 feet apart and the Menus were all printed paper that is disposed of as soon as your done using them to not risk Covid spread . So we ordered the salami stramboli as an appetizer and for our main course my husband got the king crab legs and I ordered the veal parmigiana and we got a baked potato as a side plate . Every bite was more delicious then the last . Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned perfectly. Being huge fans we will definitely be back and can't wait for the next time !!! I was very disappointed with my last few experiences at Cellaio Steak house. The Service is good but for what you're paying for the food is, I'm sorry to say subpar. I've actually had better food at the casino's diner. I never have a problem paying high prices for food as long as it is good the ribeye steak for $71 is just a money grab IMO it's flavorless and hasn't changed since it was only $55. We ordered the broccolini to go with it and we're still trying to figure out what they flavored it with, it was mushy and pretty much unedible. We used to enjoy eating the food but it has been going down hill for a while now not worth the money you'll have to spend. It's a shame it's a really beautiful restaurant just not worth the money they are asking for to dine there. read more
