You may have to wait just a bit at lunch time on a Friday but the food is so good it's worth the wait. And you can still finish your hour-long lunch break in time. The owner, Mike is always kind and a supporter of the community so it's great to be able to direct visitors his way! I'm currently experiencing heart burn, but it was well worth it! Surprisingly this isn't a review for the pizza. It may be in the name, but what I order has absolutely nothing to so with the pie. It's the tacos I come for! Since my hubby is a Meadville townie, he knows the secret, that these tacos are the best! They may have nothing to do with "authentic mexican" and I'm pretty sure the beef is flavored with some sort of Mexican powdered mix, but they are darn tasty! Really wish I could've liked the pizza, but our pepperoni had nothing special about it. It seemed like old dough and maybe could've been frozen? Hoping that's not the case. It's a really cute little place and the redeeming quality is the ice cream shoppe they have available. Employees don't seem too happy to be there, they also don't greet upon your arrival, they just kind of stare at you when you walk in. Maybe it's though the masks I can't hear them. Being new to the Meadville area, I had not had a chance to try Pizza Villa until recently. I didn't really go in with any expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The wait staff was exceedingly polite and helpful, and offered suggestions on what to try. Ultimately, I decided to try their signature Mexican Pizza, along with a plate of nachos. While not really authentic Mexican (after all, this is PA), it was quite delicious. The pizza was loaded with toppings, on a pan-style crust. It was really almost a deep-dish style pizza; I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The nachos were freshly made from tortillas, and served piping hot. The nacho sauce itself was nothing special, but their signature salsa tasted fresh and had a lot of flavor. Overall, the price was very reasonable. Less than $20 procured more food than two people could reasonably eat in one sitting; we ended up taking quite a bit home. I'm definitely a fan, and I'd certainly suggest giving Pizza Villa a try. read more

I really wanted to like this pizza, because the employees were so nice. I think the owner was there and he was a really nice dude. That's why they have 2 stars and not 1. As for the pizza, it was awful. Terrible premade crusts, little sauce and almost no cheese. I didn't eat it. It went in the trash. The cheese bread was subpar. It was like a well done baguette. So dry. I ate a couple pieces and tossed that as well. If the owner reads this, I would definitely be willing to try it again, just put a little bit more love into your product. The only reason people think this place is remotely resembling a pizza shop is because it opened before there was any other option. A better home recipe would be pie dough in pan, cook it, fill with pizza ingredients then gently warm in in the sun. Very disappointed. We enjoy trying different pizza and sandwich shops whether they are in our local vicinity or as we travel. We always order a variety of items so as to get a aggregate idea of quality and value. Yesterday we ordered a Buffalo Chicken Pizza which was only available in thin crust, because they were out of regular crust but they had regular crust for my wife's pineapple topped pizza..I don't understand why iy was out for one but not for another. We also ordered a Philly Cheese steak sandwich bread sticks. The regular crust pineapple was average at best. The thin crust was sub standard it last flavor and crumbled and did not hold together. The best item was the cheese bread/sticks. Now the Philly Cheese steak..this was one of the worst spins on the iconic sandwich I have had better at interstate gas stations. I opened it up and it had nothing but peppers and no cheese. It was somewhat filled with red and green peppers. It took a forensic expedition to find the steak. Everyone in town recommended it...and I have no idea why. I try to eat local whenever I can but this was just awful. I've had better pizza from vending machines. Canned mushrooms? Premade pies in the morning? Tasteless, gummy dough? Not fresh, terrible ingredients, and actually a bit overpriced. Visited my son at college and he wanted to go out for pizza. Found this nice,clean, friendly shop close by. Nice and simple. He had the Mexican pizza that was very good. Not a traditional pizza crust but more like a thinned down UNOs style. He kept saying it was so good. Taco meat moist and flavorful. I had a simple side salad that was fresh and crisp. tldr, pizza was gross; employees were nice. I had passed by a few times and was curious as to how good it was. I had called and asked if they delivered, to which the person responded: "No, but we have a pick-up window" My first thought was: "Well, if I'm asking about delivery, then I either can't drive or don't want to drive, so that's a weird response to my question..." 1) A pizza place without a delivery option? Ummmmmm... 2) Pick-up windows are for fast food places. That's a bizarre feature to be proud of when you're a pizza restaurant... But I guess if it came with the building, then, ok, I guess... My curiosity was great enough, so I trekked the half an hour there in 30 degrees. I ordered a whole pizza (their options are slice, half pizza, whole pizza) which I shouldn't have since it was my first time, as well as a "pizza ball." Everything on the menu seemed fairly priced. The pizza ball was actually pretty good. I asked for garlic sauce, and they "weren't sure what I wanted" and I was given the garlic "spread" they apparently use for pizza, and what they referred to as garlic "sauce;" it was bizarre green and grey small clumps. It was indeed reminiscent of garlic, but not quite right. I would think garlic sauce is a pretty universal side sauce, but I guess not... My pizza eventually came. I ordered half pepperoni, half extra cheese. My first bite was rather unpleasant. It had too much sauce, and it was not good. The pepperoni side had very little cheese, and the extra cheese side had a little too much cheese. At a few points I had to quietly spit it out onto my plate; however, I would have felt bad if I left after eating one piece. I picked up the cheese and scraped off the sauce and that made it slightly more edible. As I did this I also noticed it was a bit under-cooked. I kept thinking "Seriously? We make better pizza than this at home with store-bought dough and sauce." I eventually was able to down 3 pieces before I absolutely couldn't eat any more. I would have felt rude if I left without taking it, so I boxed it and left. Luckily when I got back to the school I found someone to take it. :') The employees were approachable, at the very least. This experience was what made me create a Yelp account. I don't think I will be returning to Pizza Villa. read more

I've been eating at the Pizza Villa since I was so little I had to jump to see over the counter. I am now 55 years old (much taller), and still look forward to my visits to Meadville to enjoy the best Pizza I've ever eaten! The BEST PIZZA IN THE UNIVERSE! :-) The crust is the perfect blend of crispy on the outside and just the right tooth in the middle. It is not greasy like some "pan pizzas" can be. They pre-bake them in the morning and finish them with the toppings you love most. The sauce is a combination of rich and hearty tomatoes that have been lovingly simmered with just the right herbs and spices, and they are not stingy with it either. Speaking of toppings! There are very few - if any - other places I have found where you can get honest to goodness "Sweet Red Peppers". They've been sauteed with just the right amount of garlic and tomatoes and cooked until they are tender in your mouth. I think they must use whole milk Mozzarella, because the cheese is so filled with flavor and gooey. My mouth is watering thinking about it. All of their toppings are as good as I have had. The onions are sweet, the mushrooms are canned but full of flavor, the pepperoni is wonderful. I can never resist their Italian Submarine sandwich either. LOADED with flavor and baked in that over for just the right crunch on the roll. I told the owner I'd like to open a franchise in Florida! read more

Pizza Villa: A Survivor's Tale If there were a contest for the world's worst pizza, I would enter the one I ordered from Pizza Villa in a heartbeat. The item ordered was so bad that after my initial disbelief and anger I actually became quite depressed. In my many years upon this planet I've had the good fortune to enjoy pizza from coast to coast and while I have good pizza and not so good pizza I have never had one which I would consider bad. That is until now, and frankly I find the idea that Pizza Villa might be an individual's first pizza experience rather tragic. The crust was thin, hard, dry and tasteless. It was basically a hard pizza Frisbee chew toy designed to be thrown at the neighbor's midnight barking dog. How bad was the crust? My girlfriend usually leaves hers and I finish it off. This crust, however, was so bad I just left it. In our many years together this was a first. Cheese? Now I can understand why the employee behind the counter gave me a strange look when I turned down an unsolicited suggestion of extra cheese. Apparently, if you want a pizza that is more than a hard dry crust flooded with tomato sauce you actually do need to order that "extra cheese." Oh, there was some cheese there, but not enough to qualify this food product as a pizza in my book. And as for the sauce... it was so wet and abundant you could sail a heavily laden Great Lakes ore boat across it and I think to be consistent the employee behind the counter should have also asked me if I wanted "extra seasoning." In other words it tasted like tomato sauce dumped straight out of a can. In summery if you can avoid the place avoid it at all cost, but if you if happen to be a person who enjoys a good culinary challenge and are not easily traumatized, then get the "extra cheese" ask for 1/4 sauce and then when they hand it to you, look to your left and grab those little condiment shakers along the wall and shake and shake and shake for all you're worth. Heard highly of their pizza, so I decided to check it out. I ordered just a pepperoni pizza and was highly disappointed. The crust was bland and had a cardboard texture. The pizza sauce had no flavor which made for a very bland pizza. Prices are responsible but the quality just isn't there. read more
