Great location near the Vatican is a godsend since most other places in the vicinity are tourist traps. The pizza was good, not great. I recommend coming here for lunch if you are spending the day at the Vatican. But there is no reason to come here specifically for the pizza since it caters to tourists. We arrived right when they opened for lunch. Already, several groups of hungry tourists coming from the Vatican morning tours were waiting out front. We were seated quickly and handed a menu, though no one was really given an option of what to order. Instead, the owner suggested strongly that everyone just get the sampler of pizzas (€17,50 for two persons). We obliged since they all looked straightforward and no one wanted to argue. Even asking about another pizza, the sampler was again suggested. The pizza came out fairly quickly and was made Roman style, which is small squares rather than the inflated, burnt dough and oval-shape of Neopolitan style. The sampler was plenty of food for two persons and the items on it were more or less 3-star level. Nothing was excellent but nothing was poor either. Pesto, bacon, prosciutto, margherita, fungi, and a ham calzone were included. For the price and location, I think we were both happy. And our service was very good. What a fun and solid pizza spot. Not your typical wood fire pizza or Naples pie (it was more focaccia) but very fresh, tasty ingredients with different and unique toppings. Good price and nice variety of Spritz's. The owner had great energy and recommended the mixed pizza plate, which had two slices of everything they had. Great choice, we loved them all. Ohhhhh em gee! This was totally an awesome find. While in Rome, one must do as the Roman's do, so we just went with the flow when we weren't offered any menus and told that we should try the sampler platter. I was slightly skeptical at first because I read that there's a ton of tourist traps where they say they're out of menus and then charge you $500 euros or something ridiculous for whatever you order. The reviews were good, so I knew I could trust this place. The place is very small inside with only two tables, but they had a decent amount of outside seating. We got lucky and we're seated right away, but other people that came after us were stuck waiting. Everyone who passed by couldn't help but stop and stare. The food looked that good! The sampler is def the way to go. Depending on how many people are in your party, they give you 6 slices per person to try. For both my boyfriend and I we only paid 17 euros for the food (and an extra 5 for drinks). They also gave us a cute saffron app to split for free as well as a biscotti to end our meal. After a long time of yelping, I settled on coming to Pizza Zizza. Even at around 2pm on a weekday, there was still a bit of a wait. While I was waiting, they brought out a fried rice ball with cheese inside for me to nibble on. That definitely started off my visit right! I ended up sitting with another guy who was by himself and actually had an enjoyable meal. He was from Argentina so we primarily spoke through Google translate in English. It was pretty fun though! I got the pizza sampler which included 6 different slices. Some were with meat and some were vegetarian, but what I loved the most was the bread and the flavors of the sauce and toppings. Great experience! We were seated right away outside. Seating is tight and limited you'll be close to other guests. In Rome you can smoke in certain areas of restaurants (outside specifically) so be prepared for smokers while you eat. The food and service here was excellent. I was told this place was great pizza and I was not disappointed. It's just outside the Vatican, and it's very tiny, so there are people typically waiting for tables. The owner was extremely friendly, sat us, and recommended we sample all the slices. He brought out Arancini to start, then a bunch of slices, each of which was better than the last. The best food I had in Rome hands down! This is a small pizza shop that is close to the Vatican. Based on the reviews it seemed like it was a place that was very crowded, but we were lucky to get seated right away. The service is extremely kind and jovial and took our orders very quickly. They give rice balls (zucchini and pepper) as a starter for free and they are extremely good. Very gooey and tasty on the inside and quite crispy on the outside. For our group, we split the vegetarian platter which allows each person to try every single type of vegetarian pizza. Most of them are great, but the pesto pizza was on another level. If you like pesto, you have to order this pizza. It is not too oily or creamy, but has a rich taste and goes extremely well with the pizza and the tomatoes. It's best to get slices with more pesto on them. I and another friend liked them so much that we ordered six more slices of pesto between the two of us. I also really liked the Zuchhini Pizza, which has a subtle taste and a great hint of oil. If you are in the Vatican area, you must come here. I've never been to a restaurant where there was no menu so this was certainly a unique experience. A quick yelp search after walking around Vatican City brought my family here. It seemed like the right decision because there were about 10 people in line outside waiting for seats to open up when the other restaurants nearby were essentially empty. I didn't appreciate that the owner/server/host (all the same person) lied to us and everyone after us about the wait time. He told everyone who asked him the wait was 5 minutes but it was certainly closer to 30. Some honesty would be nice; lots of people just left after waiting for a while. He does try to keep people waiting by bringing out free appetizers, which are sort of like fried risotto balls. So, as I mentioned before, there's no menu. He claims that he is the menu haha. We told him some dietary restrictions in our party and he made note of them and then brought out a variety of different pizzas cut into rectangles--one of each kind for each person. It took quite a while for the pizza to come out but it was an interesting experience and most of the pizzas tasted great. But to be honest, I loved the panna cotta more than the pizza. It was so creamy and the texture and taste was simply perfect with the fresh strawberries on top. You also don't know how much anything is going to cost until you ask for bill. It cost €30 for our party of 4, including one panna cotta and a beer, so it was fairly inexpensive. I'd recommend this place if you have some time to spare but definitely not if you're in a rush. read more

After spending a few hours at the Vatican and seeing all of the incredible artwork, we were ready for a late lunch. Pizza Zizza is relatively close to the Vatican, so we started walking towards the restaurant. We took the long route (take the underpass under the busy street if you go), but made it there and waited a few minutes for a table. We met the owner while waiting (speaks perfect English), and he offered us some arancini while we waited. Once a small table opened up inside (they have outdoor seating as well), we asked him to pick some pizzas for us to try.Cut into little squares, we had everything from prosciutto, to pesto, to plain cheese and sauce. All of the pizzas tasted really good, and for around 20 Euro, we ate our fill for lunch. As I stated earlier, the owner was awesome and very friendly. It was obvious that he is proud of his restaurant, and it really shows. If you are visiting the Vatican, you should stop by Pizza Zizza for some good food at a great price. read more

My husband and I got hungry after our tour of the Vatican so decided to Yelp the nearest pizza joint. Pizza Zizza popped up with the most and highest reviews, so we decided to stop by for some lunch and beer. Our experience was great and we were welcomed warmly, which was a great relief considering the fact we just experienced a cold and terrible attitude from the waiters at a very expensive resteraunt the night before. The owners, two brothers, were very funny, quirky and a joy to speak to. Our waiter was great as well! All the employees seem to genuinely like their job and were very goofy/smiley and interacted well with the customers. The food was awesome - we got a pizza sampler which is pretty much the default item they will serve you unless you specify something else. All the flavors were great, the plain cheese one being my favorite. We also got the Red beer, which was yummy!! Also, I checked in on FB while there and I guess the owner saw it because he called me by name the rest of thw time and said he saw my photo on his FB lol. Everything was priced very reasonable. $24 for a satisfying meal for two. Though the place was small, I felt like royalty in a palace. Upon arriving I was sat down with my girlfriend. Our server immediately knew what we wanted even though it was my first time eating there. That was the first time anyone had ever had the "I gotchu" service to me. Pizza Zizza is a non-descript looking pizza joint that's located approximately one block South of the Vatican. They baked several different kinds of pizza in advance each day, and then cut them to order as slices and warm them up after you pay for them. Slices are cut to your specification, and you get charged not by the size, but by the weight of each slice. The pizza here is fairly good (though not so amazing as to justify some of the reviews I've read on both Yelp and Trip Advisor) and five euros or less will buy you a decent sized slice. On the other hand, I think the draft beer is WAY overpriced; you'll pay 5 euros for a draft as well. Couple their very serviceable pizza with some efficient service and a very friendly, Mom & Pop staff, and this place is unquestionably a great place to stop for lunch when you're in the neighborhood. read more
