EXCELLENT PIZZA IN A PIZZA TOWN - Merida surprisingly for those not from here has tons of amazing…read morepizza and even more just goof pizza. Pizza Oliva, located just a short walk from the flagship restaurant Oliva, lives up to the high standards of Okiva but serves mostly only pizza. It would be easy for you to come here and have a better pie than you could find in most cities in the world, and in Merida it is defintiely a contender for best pie. There are many pizza places worth trying and Pizza Oliva is at the top or near the top of that list, check it out! Happy eating from John Seeto!

From Chicago, first time at PO today. Here are some thoughts:…read more -I've been wanting to try the pizzeria after going to the main Oliva restaurant, which is located nearby, just a block away. -This is one of the nicest pizzerias I've ever been to. It has a very bright interior with white decor and big windows that let you watch people walk by on the sidewalk. -We ordered two salads (wedge and spinach) and two pizzas (Margarita and pepperoni), and they were just right for 4 of us--1 man, 2 women, and 1 toddler who loves pizza. -The pepperoni pizza had a thinner crust, which was perfectly, lightly burnt. Great flavors, the best pepperoni pizza I've had in Merida. -The margarita had a medium crust, with a very nice light sauce, and delicious mozzarella cheese. It was also a very good pizza. -You've got to try this when you're in Merida. Service is good. Highly recommended!!

Ordered a mango and strawberry daiquiri and they were not blended. Rim was something strange. Not salt, sugar nor tajin. Service was very slow. The guy was nice but would rather chat with his coworkers. Ordered an avocado pizza, and it tasted like something from the school cafeteria. Chaya crepes were soggy, drowned in sauce to the point where it nauseated me. God help anyone who comes here looking for a fulfilling meal. Included gratuity into the check, but told me I didn't have to pay it if I didn't receive good service. What a weird spot to be put in!?

There's a great variety of drinks--nice traditional mezcalitas, chaya cocktails (with xtabentun), clericot, beer, wine, you name it. The last year or so they've had, in my opinion, a very fine singer/guitarist; she's there, I believe, Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and maybe Saturdays. Music starts at 8:30 (it used to start at 8:00, and I wish it still did or at 7:30) -- no cover. (That's not to say that on the other nights you won't hear good music; over the years there have been many fine trova singers.) All in the atrium of an historic building: in our opinion, a special if not unique place in Merida.
