An excellent dining experience awaits you at San Mina! My wife and I had great meals over the past 2 weeks in Italy and for our final dinner in Milan we chose San Mina based on Yelp reviews. And we were not disappointed! The food was simple and delicious - we started with a Caprese salad, very nice, followed by bread that was super fresh and a heartier flavor than we had at other restaurants. For entrees we decided on seafood after so many pasta and pizza meals - we tried their grilled tuna and grilled swordfish, and both were outstanding. The tuna had a nice salt/subtle seasoning and was prepared perfectly, seared on the outside and rare on the inside. My wife's swordfish was also nicely prepared, and the portion was huge - twice the amount she expected (see photos)! And the generous portion of veggies were tasty. For dessert my wife had tiramisu and said it was among the best she had on our entire trip (and she had many!). I had a wonderful pistachio dessert with almonds on the outside that was great (forgot the name), but highly recommend it. Service was professional and prompt (no hovering, a pet peeve). As we ate, the restaurant filled with locals who all seemed to know the staff personally, creating a friendly and comfortable atmosphere with a nice family feel. We walked to the restaurant so I can't comment on parking, but the neighborhood was clean and the restaurant exterior is well-lit. So, if you like excellent food at reasonable prices with great service, try San Mina! read more

Did you too, land late into Milan and am hungry? It was nearly 9 PM by the time we got to our hotel after a delayed flight and a VERY expensive cab ride from the airport to our hotel. We were starving. All we had was airport food (S/O to Charles DeGaulle in Paris!) and everything seemed to be closed! How could this be? Why were places closing ? We felt pretty desperate. But somehow on Google Maps, we found San Mina! A 10 minute walk from our hotel! Heavensent!! I think we got here around 9:30/9:45. It was pretty quiet and empty. We were worried that they would close early but the cashier quickly waved us over. There seemed to be just one waitress? She looked really tired but was very sweet, speaking somewhat passable English. Our Italian was pretty bad (my apologies!). Their menu was extensive. We ended up ordering a small pizza and a milano risotto. The food was reasonably priced. The food tasted quite homemade. Think of a mom who's a pretty decent cook , just whipping up food at home. Which was fine, we were hungry and was just glad for a home cooked meal. They took card, which was great because we did not have Euros yet. Unfortunately, we couldn't tip the waitress through card and we felt terrible about it. If you come, definitely bring some cash to tip the sweet waitress! read more

We ate here twice while staying in Milano. The first time was because it was directly across the street from our hotel, we were exhausted, and it was super convenient. The second was because the first time was just so damn good. Everything we had from their pizzas to their pastas were out of this world and the prices were really affordable. The only thing keeping this from being a five star review is that the service was a bit slow. The first time we were there we waited over 30 minutes just to get our check after it had been requested. The staff was very friendly though and it wasn't like we were in too much of a hurry. Being back home in the States for just over a week now I cannot stop thinking of their incredible Za and how there are no places near me that even come close to it. read more

What a cool, sympathetic place. My daughter and I came here late on a thursday evening after a long train trip from venice. We haven't been hungry we just weren't tired and wanted to hang around to talk a bit. So we decided to have a glas of wine in the place opposite our hotel. Although the stuff didn't speek a word of english and the tables outside weren't set up the waitress and her colleague were so kind and sweet to arrange a table with tablecloth and tissues while some other guests translated what we wanted to order. We decided to share a salad and got a big bowl of fresh mixed salad and some bruschetta with it as well. We felt very welcome - what a great service!l!!! I Love the italian mentality read more

We only had pizza there once. We were very happy with the food and atmosphere (very casual and neighborhoody) each time we ate there. I usually had some kind of fish, either fritti misti da mare or something grilled, and my wife had pizza or fish. The fish is always simply and very well prepared.
