This park is located just south of 270/Hamilton Rd. I popped over in between appointments to check out if this is open after a major rainy day... it IS!! Quite the dog park!!! Four nice sized pens! Two are really large/huge runs/pens, too! In the middle of the two large pens is a small dog pen with lots of trees, a few agility structures and in front of that is a pen dedicated to agility. There are benches to sit at inside each pen. The larger pens with no trees have a sun shelter. And so much parking!!!!! There is a pavilion, water fountains, basketball court and a playground as well. read more

I LOVE this dog park! I love how dog friendly Gahanna is in general. This park is very spacious and very clean. The dog owners who come here are all respectful of the grounds and of other people/pets. I've seen the most beautiful dogs here and met very nice people. I've only had one encounter where I felt my dog was being bullied, and I left immediately. I think the other dog's owner realized his pet wasn't quite ready for socializing on this level since they left right after us. We take our beagle here 3-5 times per week we love it so much. read more

I'm a constant Dog Park attendee with my two pup through Columbus. This was our first time to this park and I was less than impressed. Located near Gahanna with easy access of the Main Street you have ample parking. The lot is large but isn't fully kept up. It seems to have fleas due to all the dog interactions. We found multiple on one of our dogs right after leaving. They did have water jugs to make up for not having a water fountain which I appreciated. We won't return to this spot but there are many others around Columbus to visit instead! read more

This is the closest dog park to our house and it's one of three I've taken the pups to. Pooch Park comes in second! It's a nice sized park with one extra large open area for the pups that is fenced in a way that it can be split in two. There's no big dog/little dog special areas, but there is a separate isolation area where some little dogs with protective owners go. There's also a fenced in agility area, which is really cool if you're training your dog. This park is well stocked with water, trash bags, and lots of poop receptacles. It also has park benches and picnic tables. There's a covered picnic area outside the gates with a doggy/people water fountain and a dog wash station. It really has everything you'd need for your pup to have a roaring good time. Most people that come to Pooch Park are nice responsible owners, some are not, but that's a minority. Overall, we have a nice experience when we come here. read more

I had to drive my friend to the airport and had my pup so this worked out so well! We were able to let Stella play while we waited for her flight. I was surprised at the size of the park, there's almost three sections. The biggest area can be separated by a gate and a little dog section. That's the one with all the toys! The parking is close for both entrances and when you walk into both they are closed off for you to take leashes off. I wasn't a huge fan of the water dishes all over the place and people don't seem to pick up their dogs poop very well. This is the most I've seen at a dog park. Gross! There is a nice little road that you wan walk your pup on and plenty of poop bags. Not the most well cared for but not awful. read more

Great dog location and easy access. Plenty of room for big and small dogs. This location can get a bit muddy so be prepared. Bring a few extra plastic grocery bags to use and to donate. Also, if you want to be the hit of the dog park and make lots of friends, bring a gallon of water along with a plastic bowl. I have a medium size dog, 60 pound black lab/beagle mix that can play with large and small dogs but if you have a smaller dog I would use the other enclosed area so they won't get trampled on. Also, make sure your dog's are up to date on vaccines and flea meds as you can't trust other people. Protect yourself, always! read more

We had a great experience at the Pooch Park in Gahanna today with our Goldendoodle puppy, Autumn. Sunny afternoon, lots of friendly dogs of all sizes, types and ages - and best of all there's a little kid park there too so our daughter was able to have some fun of her own instead of being frustrated when all the cute dogs didn't want to play with her. This place is really nicely laid out - large area in two separate sections for bigger dogs, small shady area for the little guys, and even a separate agility area with equipment for dogs to try out. Plastic bags everywhere, bowls for water everywhere (but bring your own H2O!) and for the most part people were picking up after their dogs (there are always a few that "get away" unfortunately). We will definitely be back! Autumn's been sleeping all evening after all that excitement! read more

This is Gahanna's first public dog park. I have not yet brought my dogs here for a playdate, but I hope to soon. I have stopped by the park to check it out and discovered a 2-acre, fenced in area where dogs are permitted to run off-leash, with a separate area for smaller dogs (25 pounds or less). Another nice touch as an agility area for all dogs. The park also has an unfenced area for Fido to run free at the discretion of his owner. Dogs must be kept under verbal control of their owners, but otherwise, they are free to roam. Pooch Playground is located at Pizzurro Park on Hamilton Road, just south of I-270. It is a Gahanna City park, open from dusk till dawn and is wheelchair-friendly. read more

Love coming here with my dog, the park is huge. Wish there was a bit more shade for the dog owners when it's like 85+ degrees, you kinda just have to stand under a tree. There is always waste bags here which is great in case you forgot. When it rains the day before i would avoid coming because there will be plenty of mud puddles for you dog to play in. Luckily there is a hose outside of the entrance of the dog park by the picnic area to wash off any dirty. read more

This is one of my favorite dog parks around. It's very large, except for the small dog area, which are a joke at most parks anyway. I like that it's big because one of my dogs loves other dogs but the other 2 are a little more shy so there is space for dexter to run with dogs and at the same time gypsy, Oliver and I can find a quieter space away to snuff and explore. The path through the park is about a quarter mile long so when it's not super crowded I walk from one end to the other with the dogs following me. The best thing about the park though is the people that go there. They are friendly but not crazy, they pick up their poop and they are normal. The clientele of the different dog parks around town is remarkably different! It also has some agility equipment in a separate fenced of area which is pretty nice! read more

I take both my dogs here pretty regularly and have found this place to be one of the better dog parks that I have experienced! Everyone here is super friendly and all the dogs that have come in are well trained and get along great. The lawn is always well kept and there is plenty of water for the dogs at all times. I am incredibly happy that we reside only 10 minutes from this park! Even the drive into the park is gorgeous. We have two dogs, one is still a puppy. The park is expansive with two "sides" and two enclosed areas: one with agility equipment and another area with trees for small dogs. There are always lots of plastic bags and jugs of water-- so you know the BEST dog owners come here! Since the park is so big, I haven't seen many territory issues among dogs even on busy days. (Unlike Wheeler park-- cramped!) All of the owners I've encountered have been very nice. read more

This park is HUGE! There is so much room for dogs to run and play. Other than the size I visit this park as another option when out typical dog park is getting a little boring. My dog loves to run and chase birds at this park. I think because of the size she thinks she is not fenced in. This park also has an agility course, in its own separate area. This is a nice option if your dog needs a break or you want to exercise your dog's body and mind in a new and fun way. We always visit this area at least once during our visit. The park does not have water, so make sure you bring your own. The park is also treeless and extremely flat, not the most interesting to look at. There used to also be a bit of a mud problem but recent renovations have remedied this problem. Overall the large size is what draws me to this park. It is good option for exercising your dog. read more

Pizzurro Dog Park is a fantastic gift from the city of Gahanna. It's off the beaten path, and features almost 4 acres dedicated to dogs of all sizes. There are 2 primarily open areas on near equal sizes connected by a wide paved walking path that runs the length of the park, terminating at the two double fenced entrances. There are two smaller enclosed areas of the park as well. The first is a small dog area which can only be accessed from outside of the park or through the second enclosed agility area. This is nice as it keeps larger dogs (and their owners) from "accidental" entering the wrong area. The small dog area can also be entered from the agility course. The agility course can be accessed from one side of the large dog run by means of a gate. If you have small dogs, you have equal access to the agility area, without having to worry about accidentally introducing bigs dogs to the mix. The agility area has a pea-gravel base making for relatively soft footing. The obstacles are clean and well maintained. There is an a frame, an elevated dog walk for working dog training, a table jump, weave poles, jumps, tire jumps, etc. The two main big dog areas are very spacious. There are benches spread around the space to allow humans to spread out from the crowd. Near the convergence of the two large run areas and along the paved walking path, is a large paved pad with benches and picnic tables. The tables have umbrellas for human shade. There are several dog drinking stations in this part, and somebody always seems to be sure there is plenty of fresh water available. The large runs are primarily flat, though one side has a little bit of rolling terrain. There are small trees planted sparsely throughout the park, though they provide little shade. There are also a few a-frames and tables for dogs to play on and under on both sides of the main run. Waste bags and waste depots are located at both main entrances and in the mid park. Owners generally do a good job of cleaning up after their dogs, but as this park is so big, sometimes "a pile" goes undetected. The ground surface is grass, and it is generally in good condition. Near the central seating area, the ground is primarily hard packed dirt with most of the grass having been trampled into oblivion. The park is close to a large creek and a few times a year, the creek floods into the park and completely drowns sections of the park. There are a few sections that sit a bit lower and tend to take longer to dry out even after a standard summer shower. We always expect our girl will find a muddy spot and roll away to her heart's content. All in all, this is a fantastic park in amenities and layout. On to the people that frequent the park and the variety of dog patrons... The park is usually very busy on nice days. There is a very wide variety of dog types of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments. Same goes for their owners. Expect a lot of owners to simply release their dogs and then turn their attention to a newspaper or their phone. A lot of people assume the park itself is the dog sitter. With the massive size of the park, it can be difficult to keep tabs on your dog, even if you try. As with any dog park, you'll sometimes have dogs with somewhat poor socialization, questionable aggression levels, and little to no oversight. This is compounded by the size of the park, and the size o the crowd. Per usual, there are always those individuals that really have no business off-lead in open runs. There are always those individual owners that adopt the "what do you expect, it's a dog and and this is a dog park" attitude as their dog harasses other dogs or aggressively guards water bowls, "just has a good roll" or "play fights" with other people's dogs as they do nothing to prevent it or even monitor their dog. That being said, the overwhelming majority of people that come to this park are "regulars". Their dogs are typically very friendly and very well behaved. It's is nice to see the same faces often. We appreciate that community. Our dogs very obviously recognize "the nice guy in the red hat that always scratches me behind the ears" and "the little old lady that always sits on the bench and rubs my head gently". No dog park is perfect, but Gahanna and the group that maintains this park, does their best to make Pizzurro Dog Park as close to it as possible. read more

This is a very spacious dog park. It has obstacles and play areas for smaller dogs,water spouts and a few benches for lazy owners...lol. I do wish they could install something that zapped the owners of dogs who refuse to pick up poo. I watched a girl play on her phone while her huge dog took a gigantic poo and then just walked away. We went and picked it up, but, watching her get zapped would have been more satisfying. All in all great public space! read more

This dog park serves its purpose. It's a huge fenced in area where dogs can run. Unlike a lot of other dog parks I have been to, there are no water sources for the dogs. You have to bring your own, which really isn't a big deal unless you are forgetful like me. Secondly, there isn't much shade for the dogs and on hot days, it can be brutal. My dog literally drank at least a gallon of water and was by my feet laying down after being at the park for 30 minutes. When we go to the GODOWN dog park this doesn't happen for at least an hour (they have a ton of trees--the shade really helps). read more

I loved this park. I have a large lab and a small cavalier bichon mix who don't like being separated so finding a park where they can roam freely together has been a challenge. Most parks have specific areas for dogs based on their size so this park was great for them. Also it wasn't too crowded with other dogs and was kept very clean. There are plenty of trees for shade and water stations to keep the dogs hydrated. Everything about this park is great for every type of dog and dog owner. read more

Corky had so much fun running at top speed and meeting new friends. He is so exhausted that he has barely moved since we got home. And I love that! Love this dog park! Living in an apartment in Grandview, the pup Pabst (6 months) doesn't get a chance to get out and run around and socialize with other dogs that much other than our walks around the neighborhood. We've been here about 3 times so far. They have two large grassy areas for lots of running around and chasing, a smaller dog area, and also an agility area! They have water bowls in the area and lots of left over doggie bags to pick up after your dog. We normally bring a milk jug of water since Pabst is a water hog and likes to drink other people's water! Overall all the other owners are great. They control their dog if they get a little too rough. Did see a lady one time come and sit on a bench and read her book and literally not look at her dog the whole half hour she was there, even when he went wayyy to the other side of the park. I felt bad for her dog so made sure Pabst played with him and got him water. After rain there can be some mud puddles but that's to be expected! Pabst of course found that mud puddle and played in it, but he was having fun so we didn't care! Great way to wear out the puppy, and ensure he sleeps well that night! read more

I have been coming to this park for years and both my dogs love it. They really need to have a water fountain inside the park and lately it's been super muddy but they maintain it very well. The reason I gave it 3 stars is I've had some unsettling things happen here over the years. The most recent was a guy trying to dump a box of puppies. I don't recommend going here by yourself, I've had some creepy encounters plus it's really close to the freeway. But as far as a dog park goes it fantastic and the dogs always have a good time. read more

Have to say, this park would have been much nicer if the people there understood that not every dog is about to hurt there own. I have a pit mix who, frankly, plays with her ball and then collapses If your dog takes her ball (which we warn everyone for good measure) she may (50% chance) growl at your dog. I give a warning not to scare you but to warn you, thus the meaning of ''warning.'' She has never bitten another dog and I'm fed up with people thinking she's this monster that the media has created. She's a wonderful family dog who helped raise our 3 bunnies and our recent kitten, and she is a nanny to our foster kittens (when we have any). I'm disgusted with the people Columbus who ruin our experiences every time we step foot in a dog park. This park is nice, 3 separate areas (one for larger dogs, one for dogs under 25lbs, and an agility course), not to mention a play ground for kids. If your dog is under 25lbs chances are you shouldn't go into the larger dog area unless your ok with larger dogs (at least) saying hi to your dog. A little more: When we first arrived we walked around the place to check it out. It may just be me but I felt eyes on us the whole time like we had some criminal on a leash. Granted, she is a very hyper active dog, but that's how pits are which is why you always see them at dog parks. We went into the larger dog section (my dog being medium sized & 45-50lbs) and our dog (still leashed) went to say hi to an older looking large breed & immediately afterwards that owner took his dog outside the enclosed area only to bring his dog back in after we were far enough away. I'm pausing a moment to shake my head at the idiots of this world. It's not like your dog is going to get infected by 'bad dog syndrome' just because it sniffs a bully breed. That dog, mind you, had no ill feelings to our dog, only it's owner. Next we took a walk along the path and met 3 dogs (all large sized) with their owners who had a blast throwing their chuck it with her. I dont bring my chuck it anymore since our dog is ball crazed. I gave them a warning whenever their dog would try and take the ball from mine, saying that she doesnt share well and I wanted to let them know. They understood right away that I meant she was ball crazy and has some 'separation issues.' She's never snapped at another dog but she is a dog and I cannot always tell what she's thinking, but a good owner knows there dog and is on top of things. They appreciated the knowledge and didnt feel phased by it until knowing her breed. They soon left to a different area. I sighed and moved on, ignoring that there golden retriever snarled at my dog and my innocent Jersey just laid there panting away ... not a word or growl from her. My dog, although a bully bred, is a coward & very submissive; something I wish more dog owners would understand but I digress. We went for a drink of water and met another family with two small kids. The boys loved Jersey and enjoyed the 'funny sounds' she made as she panted away under the picnic table. They generally seemed taken with her until their mother's friendly conversation turned to 'so what kind of dog do you have.' I have never lied to anyone as I'm very open with most things, including my wonderful dog. She and her sons quickly walked away. We were alone again. Fed up we walked into the agility area and I had her running the course only to see that all the other owners had huddled into the very end of the park so far away from where we were that I laughed out loud. I dont know if this place is one big click, if they dont like new comers, or if they are seriously afraid of bully breeds. I dont know. What I do know is I'm fed up and sick of my dog not being aloud to play with the other dogs. She has needs just like they do, to run and play and socialize. But with the outragious number of ignorant dog owners out there i'm afriad Jersey will never have the same rights. read more

I do not go to this dog park. I've found the crowd doesn't watch their dogs, or brings aggressive dogs and won't leave. Not to mention the way the fencing is there's a huge section where your dog(s) are out of site if you do not go over there, which is nerve racking considering some of the people that show up. My husband and I love this park! We don't live in Gahanna but travel almost 30minutes every other day because we have yet to find a closer park we love more. We have a young pup (5 months) who is pretty short thanks to his breed and we have never been worried/anxious about other dogs playing with him. We see "regulars" every time we go, which we have yet to experience at other parks. The park is very large, clean, plenty of dog poo stations, and a few benches. We have only witnessed one aggressive human who obviously has never learned about dog behavior. It is never "aggressive dogs" we worry about, but ignorant humans who treat their dogs and/or other dogs poorly. Don't let those poor review scare you off...I think people may have bad experiences with their dog's personality and another dog's personality...or perhaps had an issue with a specific owner. I am concerned that so many owners bring their young children...personally, I would be leery about unknown dogs interacting with my young child around. I frequent this dog park a lot. HUGE section for large dogs I would definitely recommend! There is also a small section for dogs 25 pounds and under. I have a small dog that I take into the small section but it's very rare for there to be any dogs in there. The larger area is always packed. I have never had any issues here. read more

I like this dog park, it's pretty big and the people that go there are nice and down to earth. I like that there's an agility course to train your dogs in. I also love the idea of bringing bags to donate to the park. The only thing I have against it is that people don't consistently pick up their dog poop. I have noticed that some owners voiced concerns over bringing children to the park. It's also important to remember that the rules state "No Puppies!" Young dogs not only stand a good chance of being injured, but can start bench-clearing brawls due to their nipping and playful nature. Here's a great tip: If you notice 200 pounds of collective dog running at you, just go limp and remember to roll when you hit the ground. :-) read more
