Scioto Audubon Dog Park is a great option for the downtown area. If you've been there you'll know it's not the pet friendliest. This is a good place for letting your dog loose. It's also next to a beautiful park if you want to walk around. The only bad thing is it needs more trees. I had to check the map to find it. If you didn't know, Scioto Audubon Metro Park is massive. The dog park is located at the end of Maier Road. It's the road off to the right on Whittier Street when you get to the park. The road goes up and makes several turns past the climbing wall. It finally gets to the dog park where there's a parking lot. There's a single port-o-potty which is usually occupied. I like the Metro Parks in Columbus, so I would come to Scioto Audubon Dog Park again. It's not a big park, which means it often gets busy. The location is great though so that's the best thing. read more

Was downtown for work and decided to bring Stella to the dog park at Scioto Audobon. I'd never been but I've seen it from the highway a million times. It's way back at the end of the park and I there's maybe 3 or 4 parts to it. I parked in a lot and we walked up. There were a few dogs there but we headed into the main area. Stella let the two dogs in there and was good to go. There's so many training toys and it's a decent size. Then, a couple and their two Pit Bulls came into the big area and here's where it went downhill. They scared my dog and then chased her down. She was yelping and the couple weren't paying attention and let them all into another area where I couldn't get to my dog. I was freaking out and she was still being chased down by these dogs. The owners did nothing as I ran towards her. She seemed when I got to her and brought her back to the other area. They didn't even take the time to apologize or check and see if my dog was okay. I can't even believe that happened. The other two owners were super friendly and checked in but come on people! After they left my dog took a bit to be normal again. New dogs came in and their owners had a handle on their pets and she was fine to play again. As a whole, I'm not really sure if I'll be back. There was a ton of water that the dogs could roll on and get muddy and the dry dirt was a bit crazy. Not a bunch of grass and it didn't seem super taken care of. I may give it another try with my husband but I'm not too sure. read more

Luna and i were excited to try out the new park but we were sorely disappointed. the gates don't have latches (maybe they just haven't been installed yet?). for seating, there is only one bench and one picnic table. there is no water fountain and absolutely NO SHADE except for under the picnic table. there are trees around, but not close enough (to the large-dog section, anyway) to offer any relief from the hot sun...none of the dogs wanted to run or play at all. i think they could have planned the layout a lot better. i'm also not sure how the artificial turf will hold up over time. even tho the old park was all mud when it rained, we liked it better than this new and "improved" version. if they add a water fountain and some kind of shade to accommodate both dogs and humans, maybe we'll go back. read more

Love this park however my small dog was able to escape the fenced in area due to wide openings in the aluminum fence. I have let the city know they should fix this to keep small dogs safe. read more

Overall this dog park is nice, it has an area for both larger dogs (much bigger) and smaller dogs. It's all grass and has some benches inside to sit. My main complaint is the amount of dog excrement in the park. It's hard to run around without fear of stepping in one if not multiple piles. Of note there is a pet disposal station but patrons do not appear to be using it. read more

I searched for a dog park in the area and saw that the Scioto Dog Park was a 25 minute walk along the river from my place downtown. It was well worth the walk. At 9:30 am on a Monday morning, the park was quiet. Two other well-behaved small dogs came along and my dog had a great time. I was told by other owners that this park is extremely busy on weekends and because of that there are a lot of fights/behavioral issues. However, on weekdays your dog might not have a playmate. The park is very clean and there's two separate areas for large and small breeds. Lots of fun agility equipment to play around with. If you live along the Scioto, check this park out! read more

There's so much to talk about when you can talk about everything that happens within the Scioto Audubon Park area. My component, my aspect, my thought processes is only on the dog park area. The dog park location is easily accessible from the inner city where I live. The area is extremely serene, aesthetically appealing and has an awesome sight line of the downtown skyline. They have added an accessible porta-jon down at the edge of the parking area. This took years to get them to do and it's appreciated....I don't know if it'll disappear in winter though. There are now 3 fenced off dog play areas. The two original are connected with a pavilion area with picnic tables under a roofed pergola-type structure. There are two water stations that have running water in good weather. I guess I'm being bland in writing because I'm so familiar with the larger dog area and it's definitely not as nice as it once was. They have had this very specific mud prone hole since it opened and it still hasn't been eliminated...shouldn't they fix/fill/resolve this muddy hole? They've never addressed reseeding of grass and they've allowed the sand area in the far back to just vanish. There are now some small trees growing back there. They've now placed wood chips throughout the center area. My two canines aren't fans of wood chips. The apparatus pieces are old. They have made some needed repairs too these but they are lacking creative pieces. There are two benches for humans and they're a welcome treat. I have no real knowledge of the smaller dog area since I've never been in there. I don't really pay attention to dogs and their humans that use that area. I've been thrilled that I've not had to deal with fleas and ticks in the dog park. I believe that dog owners are respectful of each other and that everyone is focused on appropriate socialization of their canines. Columbus has so many dog parks and each maintains its own culture. I rate this one in today's world as having gone way down hill without attention being given to it. The one off of Godown Road is amazing for example. Audubon is so close that I go here but sure wish they'd give it the attention it deserves.....OUR DOGS DESERVE A WELL CARED FOR PARK! read more

This place is okay if you want a place for your dog to run around. I have a small dog so I went over to the small dog area. Most people were at the large dog area(over 30lb). We met our friends there so there were a couple of smaller dogs otherwise everyone was at the other side. It didn't feel clean or maintain very well. It's free so you can't really expect a lot. I would watch out for the large dog area because some dogs were playing rough. read more

I like this park. It is a good option when our typical dog park is getting a little boring for both me and my dog. This is what I like about this place. They have water on site, also the water is outside the actually dog park area so there isn't a huge mud pit in the dog park area. They also have agility equipment, though most of it is in disrepair, which is disappointing. My dog loved the teeter- totter and this was the only place where we could practice this skill. There is more equipment in the small dog area. I will many times take my dog into the small dog area to practice these skills if other dogs are not present. With the park being an Audubon, birds are all around which gives my dog something to chase. This park is also not very busy when I visit on a saturday or sunday morning. The park is small and lacks shade. Keep that in mind before you visit. read more

I visited this park for the first time and it has some great amenities for the dogs, my favorite being the doggie water fountains. There was a sign up saying they didn't have any toys due to vandalism which is so sad, because it is a great park with a ton of space for the dogs to run and would be nice if they could have some play toys. They have a large dog enclosure and a separate small dog enclosure. When we went, there were only 2 other dogs that left shortly is after, so unfortunately my pooch didn't have any playmates, but he still enjoyed it. We will be back for sure! read more

Dog parks are nice to find, and this is a good one in the downtown area. Hidden in the very back of the park. Not much grass right now, so it will get very muddy. People here are friendly and fun to talk to. Looks like there are two areas off a small covered picnic area. A small dog area and an area for other dogs. Both have obstacles for the dogs to play with. Bags are available for litter and water bowls through out. Bring water in the colder month, as it looked like the water fountains were turned off. read more

This is a great dog park! There are separate areas for different sized dogs. They have water, poop bags, and picnic tables which is nice. They also have agility items for the dogs to play on. It does get muddy, but it is very spacious and clean. We don't go often because we generally find it busy and we have a pitbull who is looked at like a demon so we tend to go to other places with fewer or no dogs. All in all- this is a great dog park in the downtown area of Columbus! read more

Pretty good park, has a lot of nice amenities. However, it is too small and needs more shade. The size would be fine for a suburb, but right smack dab in Columbus it gets crowded quick. During the summer, there's no where for hot dogs to escape to when they start getting hot, so they have to be taken home to avoid heat stroke. read more

Owners bring through a double gate. There is one area for small dogs, one for large dogs. Both have obstacles you can do and plenty of room for your pooch. This dog park used to be just two areas for small dogs and large dogs with an area in between with picnic tables, a shelter and a water fountain for dogs and humans. They added another area separately on the field next to the park and now they alternate which of the 'large dog' areas is open in order to reduce the muddiness. In actual execution, they don't switch between the two often enough and the original area is often quite muddy, particularly in early spring when there is still total saturation from melted snow, and then it rains on top of that. As for the people and dogs, I've not had any real issues with owners or dogs at this park. Everyone is pretty laid back, but watches after their dogs. It's never very crowded, especially from like 11-4. There is a pretty decent sized group that comes for 'Happy Hour', especially when it's nice out, but that's really the only time things feel crowded. read more
