If I could give negative stars I would. We spent 8 thousand dollars, more money than we have to spend, on a pool cover that was not installed properly. We have asked them numerous times to come fix their mistake and they have sent incapable people out to fix it"fix " it. They never fixed the problem and have simply let this further fall apart. I have a toddler. It is unsafe to have my child near this pool which is why we spent the money in the first place. Now they are not answering my requests that they fix this issue. read more

We used pla mor for the last 8 years to open,close our pool. Like other reviews we had to purchase a cover that ran around $8500. They measured it incorrectly, came to install. Noted and told us it was incorrect and took several weeks to fix the issue. This was the only issue we had , up until closing last year. They where 2 weeks late showing up. Had reason after reason on why. The first trip the technicians made they broke a compensator plug in one of the returns (never told us) ,then said that retrieving the cover from the shed they felt afraid to go in(a tree branch had fallen on the roof and had not yet been repaired. I took a video and several pictures showing that there was no danger to them,watched the ring camera in my back yard and saw both techs walking around the pool and with the exception of breaking the plug off did nothing to close the pool. They left I pulled the cover out for them ,called the office about the broken plug and pla mor charged me an additional $75 for the same techs to come and close the pool. I was told the compensator was fixed and other then being a little frustrated I had faith in the company after 8 years. Forward to early December I was removing water off the cover, checked my skimmer return and the broken compensator pooped out from under the lip of the skimmer and landed on the deck , the broken plug still in place. I placed several calls to pla mor and never received a response. Finally I called to pay my bill off,of course got a person on the phone,I voiced my displeasure with the entire ordeal and was told "yea sometimes the techs are not that good" I followed with I understand that getting good help is hard,but I felt after 8 years and more then$11000 spent with them I should have never been in a position to feel this way about a business I had faith in. I would like to think my experience was a one off,but as I read some of these reviews and the response I got that like a crappy marriage,it's time to move on to someone else. We contracted Pla mor pools to fix our pool cover. They failed to fix it properly and threatened us with legal action when we refused to pay the outstanding balance of $3K+. In total a $6K+ mistake to contract these guys. read more

We had a close call on a large bill with Pla-Mor that would not have fixed our issue due to the technicians mis-diagnosing the issue. We contacted Pla-mor pools because our pump was not pulling water through, and it was obvious there was too much air in the lines, it was visible in the basket next to the pump. The technicians came out, called back to another technician and diagnosed the problem being the saltinator(?) and a temperature gauge, a $700+bill. I decided to do some research online which pointed to a gasket, ~$14, which I ordered on Amazon and received the next day. I replaced the gasket, along with another one for good measure, ~$18, and water is now shooting through our filter and pipes better than ever. I should note that we do have a faulty saltinator, and we have replaced it multiple times over the years. We just use chlorine now. Not sure about the temperature sensor, but the heater has the correct water and air temperature so that works fine as well. However that is not what we called them for, and would not have fixed our problem. Those are the facts about what happened. I think the only two reasons I can determine for a misdiagnosis is that either the technicians do not have the appropriate skills to recognize a plumbing issue vs an electrical one, or they misrepresented the work that needed to happen in order to get a larger repair. 4/18 Update: How it's going: I spoke with Nat at Pla-Mor Pools and provided one last opportunity for his company to make this right. Nat told me that he would get back to me and I have yet to hear back. A company not willing to do right (or even respond) by a customer has resulted in multiple social media reviews, a Better Business Bureau complaint, and contact with the county government to look into the possibility of fraudulent behavior. The way that the owner has decided to handle this should be a warning to anyone who is thinking about doing business with Pla-Mor. How it Should have Gone: Hello, Mr. Daniel, we apologize that our technician came to your house and completed work without your consent. That's just not how we do business. We want our customers to be completely satisfied and 100% confident that all work was done and done correctly. It sounds like we missed. We will remove the additional charge from your bill and hope that you will give us the opportunity to make this right. It's customer service, folks. It's not hard. If you're looking for customer service, don't go with Pla-Mor pools. read more

Pla-Mor pools has been so incredible throughout the entire process of us getting our inground pool's liner replaced. We had not run our Hot Springs Hot Tub in two years and it had gotten very dirty and needed some deep cleaning and "sprucing up" In discussing with Jacob at Pla-Mor he worked with me on what would be needed to get this back up and working. Their technicians showed up on scheduled and were very polite and professional and to the point. Within the time estimated they had everything cleaned and running and were even able to clean the existing filters that i had thought needed replacement. I was told that Pla-Mor is an authorized Jacuzzi dealer in the Richmond area. If you need any help with your Jacuzzi spa, I would suggest you NOT talk to "South". I requested a replacement part for the cover lift on my hot tub. I told him what I needed and he said he would look up the price and get back with me shortly. Just to be sure he knew exactly what I needed, I emailed him a picture of the broken part on May 15, 2015. I had not heard from him for slightly over a week and called him back. He said this is his "busy time" of the year and he had not had time to look for the part, but he would get the information and call or email me with the information. I never heard back from him by phone or email. I finally had to find the part from another dealer. I guess they just do not care about their customers, or making a small sale or repair job. I do not know anything about the company, so I cannot say if the problem is company-wide, or just one lazy person. Either way, I spent my money where it was welcome. read more

About a month ago we called Pla-Mor about opening our the pool for the summer. Two pool men showed up as promised. We had already removed the cover. While they were here which wasn't very long, they told me they brushed the sides of the pool because they couldn't see the bottom(?), added 64.00 in chemicals, and repaired one PVC pipe. They were here approximately 45 minutes and charged us $338.25. They credited us $25.00 because the cover was already removed when they arrived at our home. Three days later, the pool was still green! We took a water sample to the Play-Mor store in Ashland, and we were told to ... "drain the pool...!!" I called Play-Mor back and was told that the men they send out are not trained in getting the pool clear, that they were only mechanics??? There was no effort on their part to attempt to rectify our problem. I felt like the $65.00 in chemicals they added was a waste of time and money, and we had already brushed the sides of the pool down. As for the balance of the charges, the only valid portion of the bill we felt was the service rendered on revolving the leaking valve. The service we received was extremely poor for a company with the reputation they claim to have. We called another local pool company and in two days our pool was turning blue once again. I will not and do not recommend calling Play-Mor in the future, for having your pool opened for the season. We were very disappointed. I felt like we were overcharged and under-serviced! Have used Pla-Mor for openings and closings before. Largely, they did ok, but had issues with scheduling and in one instance, the work that was "included" in the opening was not performed. This year, I was on the schedule to have the pool opened this past Monday (5/22), for a couple of weeks. However, at 1103 on Monday, I was called and advised my appointment was cancelled and would be moved to Monday, Memorial Day. Obviously, this is a no-go for me. In speaking with someone at the managerial level, I was advised that due to the rain (non electrical), and their workers being in a different zone, they had to reschedule our opening. Lets levermind the fact I had taken off from work, and their was a party planned for the weekend. "Thats the best we can do" is unacceptable. Pay OT, get in a truck yourself and take care of some jobs, or issue your folks some rain gear. It rained the last two times the pool was opened, so I am not aure why this rain was wetter. We hired PlaMor to open our pool this summer and was given a quote of 340.00. This included changing sand, removing and cleaning and folding up cover, putting ladder in, chemicals needed, cleaning and brushing sides, and getting it up and running. We were given a time around 1pm that day. I understood it could be a couple hour window. I had to call 3 times that day and finally they showed up at 6:15pm. The 2 guys that came were nice and polite, but the job was not done to our satisfaction. The cover was taken off and sprayed but not cleaned and rolled up soaking wet. A few days later, it was still leaking water and we had to lay it out and clean it and dry it. My husband had to help with the hose hookup, they had to borrow our drill to put ladder in correctly, the sides were not cleaned at all (they said they didn't have stuff on truck), they failed to start putting water in to raise level so could not start pump before they left at 8:15. We were left with a pool that was anything but open. It took us another couple hours to clean and open it later. We called to discuss the matter with PlaMor several times. The only response we got was that the guys said they did everything right. Where is the customer service??? On top of that we got a bill for 444.00. My husband paid it but I called 4 days in a row to discuss this bill with Kenny but never got a call back. Always busy, always on the phone. I called again and again he was busy but someone told me it was approved to refund me 104.00. I am not in the business of getting anything for free, but I also do not want to pay for something I did not get. Total lack of customer service. We should have at least gotten some off of original bill of 340. They took NO responsibility for anything, and totally dismissed our complaints. We have been a customer for 15 years and its a shame there are no other pool stores in Mechanicsville. read more
