This pool room and restaurant stands in a class of its own, not just as a place to play or dine,…read morebut as a complete experience built around quality, community, and consistency. From the moment you walk through the doors, it's immediately clear that this is not a typical establishment trying to get by on appearances--it delivers substance at every level. Start with the atmosphere. The patrons and staff set the tone, and here that tone is unmistakably positive. People are welcoming without being intrusive, friendly without being artificial, and professional without feeling stiff. That balance is rare. You don't feel like an outsider, even on your first visit. Instead, there's an underlying sense that this is a place where people genuinely enjoy being--and that matters the most. Then there's the food, which frankly outperforms expectations for a venue that could have coasted on its recreational appeal alone. It hasn't. The kitchen clearly takes itself seriously, and the results show. Winning three regional awards isn't luck--it reflects consistency, execution, and a refusal to cut corners. The menu offers standout dishes that would hold their own against dedicated restaurants, not just "good for a pool hall," but legitimately among the best in the area. Now to the core attraction: the pool tables. This is where the establishment separates itself from the competition decisively. High-quality equipment isn't optional here--it's foundational. The sixteen 9-foot Diamond and Diamond Predator tables signals that this place understands what serious players expect. These tables are meticulously maintained, level, clean, and responsive. Casual players will enjoy the experience, but seasoned players will immediately recognize that this is a venue designed with them in mind. Maintenance extends beyond the tables. The entire facility reflects attention to detail. Cleanliness, organization, and upkeep are clearly priorities, not afterthoughts. There's no sense of neglect or slow decline that plagues so many similar businesses. Instead, everything feels intentionally cared for, which reinforces trust in the overall operation. Location matters, and this one is hard to beat. Situated in a safe, upscale southside area, it removes the hesitation some people have about visiting billiards venues. You're not second-guessing your surroundings--you're focused on enjoying your time. That alone broadens the appeal, especially for families. And that brings up another critical point: this is genuinely a family-friendly environment that includes a youth league. The friendliness is not in a forced or watered-down way, but in a way that makes people of different ages comfortable sharing the same space. That's difficult to execute, and even harder to sustain, but it's clearly part of the core philosophy here. Finally, the owner, Thomas Dorsey, deserves mention--not as a token nod, but because leadership sets the ceiling for everything else. His reputation for being genuinely kind and approachable isn't just a nice detail; it explains the culture. Places don't accidentally become welcoming, well-run, and respected. That starts at the top. If you're looking for a place to pass time, you have options. If you're looking for a place to consistently enjoy yourself, improve your game, eat well, and build real connections, this is where you go.

One star is too generous for South Beach Bar & Grill. To write this review I've to minimum select. As a recent military retiree to Chesterfield, I visited South Beach Bar & Grill November 6, 2023. After waiting at the bar for service for approximately 15 minutes the bartender asked me what I would like too drink. She did not provide me a food and/or drink menu. After receiving my drink, I asked a different employee "How do I get a food menu"? She replied sarcastically..."well start by letting the bartender know you are here.." My reply was "maam I have a drink in front of me...isn't obvious" On my receipt I requested for a phone call from the manager. No manager called after a week. On November 13, 2023 I visited South Beach Bar and Grill with the intent of speaking to a manager. After informing the lead employee my concern, she stated the following weak excuses: 1. South Beach Bar & Grill does not have managers on duty like typical restaurants. 2. If I were a regular customer I would know to ask for a drink and/or food menu 3. Sometimes South Beach Bar & Grill get busy and the employees get overwhelmed 4. She would have a manager call me. After more than 14 days of waiting, I decided to write this review and informed others to "beware'. Do yourself a huge favor...spend your money at a bar & grill that would appreciate you as a valued customer!

There was a decent selection of beers available at a happy hour price, and they had a variety of alcohols for mixed drinks. While we did not order any apps, the selection was appealing. I ordered a stuffed burger which was filled with bacon, cheese and onions. It was cooked well and I upgraded to pork rinds which were TASTY! I am not a connoisseur of pork rinds but if I was these must rank high. They were crunchy, and had a delicious spice to them. The burger was ok. Those around me had an order of shrimp and grits, and a crab cake sandwich. All of which looked enjoyable. I saw the waitress walk past with an order of nachos that was LITERALLY piled sky high. I could not believe one person was going to attempt to consume those, there must have been a kirkland 3 lbs bag of chips on the plate! I didn't hear any complaints from the group. and we all had fun! We will certainly be back next time we are staying in chester.

Her name is Katie and she always has on a hat because she acts like a dude. If you are even remotely attractive, she will have a reason to have an issue with you. There are a couple of bar tenders there that have chips on their shoulders. God forbid you try and help them or tell them what your friend would like to drink. I was spoken to like a dog for telling one of the bar tenders that my friend wanted a _____ light. She was so rude and nasty and told me "I know how to do my job!" She asked me if I needed a drink and I said I was ok, but my friend will take a ____light and she was just all kinds of nasty. This bar really says it all in its name, I DON'T KNOW...you truly don't know what kind of personality you're going to get when you walk in. If they trained their bar staff to be professional and decent (not all of them are rude) then it might be a decent place to stop in for a beer or two.
