We've used Millennium Pools to open, close and service our pool (as needed) for approximately the last five years. After having poor experiences with some of their competitors, I've been very pleased with their professionalism and attention to detail while still offering competitive prices. I appreciate their work order reports and the very detailed pictures that they include. I also wanted to call out two of their employees, specifically -- Nahum and Miguel. This year, due to all of the snow, our pool cover caved in and the pool cover pump accidentally pumped out most of the pool water before we discovered it. That, coupled with lots of leaves in the pool, made for a much more difficult opening this year. Nevertheless, Nahum and Miguel went the extra mile to get the pool to open very clean and clear. They spent extra time but did so with a very positive, helpful attitude that I appreciated. I would highly recommend them. read more

Update: After posting this review, Millennium Pools reached out to us and worked with us on an upgrade we were considering for our pool. We appreciate that gesture and their willingness to address some of our concerns. While our original experience and the delays remain unchanged, it is only fair to acknowledge their effort to make things better. After more than six weeks, our pool liner project is still not complete because Millennium Pools has measured the liner incorrectly multiple times. We are now waiting for a third liner and hoping it finally fits. To make matters worse, the company removed our old liner and left our pool empty and without a liner for two weeks while we wait for the replacement. What should have been a routine liner installation has turned into a lengthy and frustrating process. The company has offered no discount or compensation for the delays, inconvenience, or loss of use of our pool, despite the fact that the mistakes were entirely their own. We have spent tens of thousands of dollars with this company and expected better service, communication, and accountability. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend Millennium Pools. read more

Our initial experience with Millennium Pools was spectacular. They were the only company willing to come out in the early fall to conduct a leak detection inspection as part of a real estate transaction. The test took almost three hours and was exceptionally thorough. It was followed up with an estimate for repairs, which we were able to use as part of our real estate transaction. Fast forward to spring when we scheduled the repair for the pool at our new house. The project manager indicated the necessary repairs were more extensive than anticipated. We accepted the change, understanding some issues were not revealed until the pool was drained. As part of the new repair, we had to remove the entire pool deck - an expensive and unexpected cost. Millennium provided no assistance with this effort and instructed if we did not complete the action within the week, all our scheduled repairs would be delayed indefinitely. As building a new deck is costly, we advised Millennium that we did not intend to install a new deck following removal of the old one. Rather, we were going to stucco the exposed part of the wall that had been under the deck and hide it with plantings. We asked Millennium to install new coping to cover the top of the exposed wall (it previously had been under the deck). The new coping was installed and circa three inches of the top of wall remains exposed. It looks horrible - wish I could add a photo to this review. Upon following up with Millennium, the project manager confirmed he understood what I wanted and agreed the coping was too short. However, the illness was upon me to know the standard size of coping and measure the wall to make sure it fit before I agreed to the work order. I mistakenly assumed that a builder would be responsible for measurements when I asked for coping that covered the top of the wall. Millennium now wants to charge me $8400 to fix their mistake. In fairness, the issue with Millennium is the renovations department, specifically the project manager. The estimator was great and he tried to work with me to find a solution. The maintenance department also has been fantastic. They respond quickly to questions and their work thus far looks wonderful. I recommend Millennium for service and maintenance, but recommend any customer looking for a repair or renovation look elsewhere or ask for a someone other than the project manager to oversee any work. read more

UPDATE - After my review, the supervisor got involved the workers were out to my house that afternoon. Although there were issues on arriving very late in the day or without the correct equipment, they did everything they could to locate this hard to find leak. We just received an estimate to replace the liner in our inground pool. This estimate did not include removal of the water or replacing the water a few years ago. We paid $1800 from another company (the owner has since retired) a few years ago. Our liner is fine, it's just a bit faded as we picked a shade of blue that was very light to begin with. Millennium wants $10,000 for the exact same job only the previous company removed the water and filled the water as well as replacing the liner. Now I am going to assume that the laborers haven't gotten a 400% salary increase and I'm sure that the company that creates the liners didn't increase their prices by 400%. Hank & co. has continually been efficient and responsive since my first inquiry. I hired Millennium Pools to install my pool heater. They were professional and finished the job timely and with care. Since the install I found out my heater has a known issue and Millennium suggested To ask the manufacturer to take care of it since it should be covered under warranty. So I asked again and the manufacturer agreed to fix it, thankfully I didn't have to pay any out of pocket expenses Much Thanks to Hank! I have used Millennium for many years now. I agreed last year to enter the 2 year contract. This will be the last. They never really fix the problem the first time and the add on charges are annoying. My pool is in need of updated tile and coping and I am interested in renovation, but given the quality and cost of their maintenance, I am looking for other companies. If anyone has a service company or renovation company they would recommend, I would be interested. Also need to get a replacement loop loc cover. Again, recommendations would be appreciated. I leave my first review below for the record. However, MP has now stepped up its service levels, they are communicating internally and - most importantly - they got the job done. The manager sent out the crew for no extra charge to explain the pump and heater to us and they also helped us backwash the system. They also left an offer for some work that needs to be done. Bottom line: they know what they are doing and after a frustrating start they were responsive and got the job done. ------- So far extremely poor service. I am dealing with 3 different crews, someone who is in the office but apparently doesn't seem to be communicating with the crews, they don't read or remember my emails, they show up at the house despite the fact that I told them we won't be there and they charged me anyway! They oversold what they had to offer in my case (a pool opening after a couple of years without use) and we are now at twice the estimate and the job isn't done yet! It's like pulling teeth. I have owned an inground pool and spa for more than 24 years and recently found myself in a position where I decided it was time to look for a new pool service that would open my pool and spa each summer, provide maintenance and then close the pool and spa at the end of the summer. After researching local pool services, Millenium Pool Service was at the top of my husbands list of prospective pool services due to good reviews he'd read online. We have both tried to contact Millennium Pool Service repeatedly over the past few weeks, we've called and left messages, written emails, submitted a request through their website and requested more info via angies list and haven't received a single response. I understand companies get busy this time of year, but NO RESPONSE at all is ridiculous. If they are too busy to take new clients it would've been nice if they would've written that on their website, or they could've at least told the women I spoke with the two times I was able to get someone on the phone to politely inform inquiring customers that they are overloaded and don't have time to take on new work. Instead the two times I called, I was told to call a man named Mr. Keigel for a more accurate quote. Well we've called, left voice mail messages, emails etc. and no one will call back, write back - NOTHING. We wasted all that time thinking that a company with good reviews would obviously respond shortly and we'd be on our way to swimming in our pool in no time only to be sitting here more than two weeks later, in the hot virginia summer and having to start our search all over again - clearly a lesson was learned - good reviews aren't always accurate. read more

We've used Millennium for nine years now, and have no reason to change. Our tech this year, Petar Petrov, has been excellent. He arrives on each scheduled day without fail, thoroughly deals with all the contracted work, cleans up after himself, and leaves helpful notes about his work and recommendations. The office staff are equally superb. Scheduling is easy and -- most important to me -- they don't hesitate to deliver unwelcome news as they prefer to deal with things clearly and fairly. Clearly the ownership of Millennium ascribe to the "no surprises" philosophy of customer service, and that's hugely appreciated. My only regret is that we didn't have them do our pool renovation some years ago; we went with someone cheaper who's a specialist in that work but I'm fairly sure Millennium would have done a better job with longer-term better outcomes. read more

They renovated our pool, which turned out pretty good. Price was competitive. However, their ongoing pool service/maintenance was not great and they'd always send someone new, who didn't know the pool set up and had consistently slow response times. We ended up switching to another pool co and Millennium never bothered to ask why or try to fix the situation. read more

After reviewing several prices in the area, Millennium is the best deal and you get the best service. Delmer has been our servicing tech this summer, and we really hope to see him back next summer. We have used Millenium Pools & Spas to service our inground swimming pool for several years now. I can honestly say, after using several other pool companies before them, that they are the best company we have used. They have been super responsive every time we have had a question or concern related to the maintenance and upkeep of our pool. We use them to open and close the pool every year, provide weekly maintenance, and also use their winter maintenance program. The individuals they send out on a weekly basis have been amazing! This year we have had Lazar service our pools and he has been extremely attentive and seems to go above and beyond as did all of the other maintenance people we have had over the last few years. Used them for 4 years and for the first two years they were ok. However the guy that used to manage my pool opening closing started working on his own side business and didn't oversee the crew opening/closing my pool. The would send people that didn't know about my pool system and they started pushing the winter leaves and debris into my main suction system where it blocked my system creating loss of prime in my pumps. This caused my pumped to overhead and busted my pipes and pumps costing me thousands in them repairing their own mistakes. It took me another two vendors inspecting this issue that they found out my main suction lines were blocked by Millennium incompetent crew pushing leaves into them during opening and "cleaning" instead of what I had paid them for which was to vacuuming the pool BEFORE turning the pumps on. When I brought this up to them this season they decided to lie to me and say they don't have time for my pool til end of summer instead of being a professional and fixing their own mistakes. Be careful with these outfit....my friend that used them in the past dropped them as well on the complaint. read more

This was our first year with this pool service, and the opening didn't go well since it was early in the season and the water was too cold to adjust the chemicals, so we struggled with getting the balance. After a nightmare with another local pool installer we had to call around to see whom would even come out and look at the items that were broken along with to maintain for opening & closings etc. We have had nothing but wonderful experiences with these guys and gals. I was directed to this company by my pool installer because they were no longer able to service my area and this company was in the area. My experience with this company has been absolutely HORRIBLE. I would not recommend you use them unless you pool installer has a specific contract requiring you to do so. I have a fiberglass pool which requires very specific closing opening and maintenance procedures that were meticulously went over by the installation company who also manufacturers the pool. Millenium Pool Service had no idea how to care for the pools and made no attempt to make sure they were PROPERLY completing a closure. I first attempted to contact the company on their website to obtain pricing. It took them 2 weeks to E-mail me back regarding pricing. When I finally received the price, it took an additional 2 weeks to get a response, JUST TO SCHEDULE a closing. I will say that they were at least able to honor the week I wished to close the pool, but that's the only positive experience I've had with them. When the technicians arrived to close the pool, they lacked the knowledge to close the pool the correct way. Thankfully, I was able to watch their work and picked up on numerous mistakes they made, likely saving myself severe damage to the pool and equipment. First, the techs INSISTED on draining the pool below the skimmer and removed approximately 16 inches of water from the pool. I have had the pool closed numerous prior times, and the installer NEVER drained this much water, in fact it is HARMFUL to a fiberglass pool to drain this much water, as it can cause it buckle/crack from ground pressure. When I asked about this, they replied and said "this is the only way to do it". When the water was drained, the tech noticed there was a scaling on the pool. I've been fighting this towards the end of this year and lost the battle before I closed, so I was planning on remedying it next season, but the tech suggested I have them come out and "acid wash" the pool. Again, anyone with knowledge of a fiberglass pool would know acid washing the fiberglass would destroy the pool and its coating. Eventually the lines were blown out and the cover was put on. After they left, I remembered I did not see them blowing out the bubblers on the tanning ledge. I opened a corner of the pool and to my surprise, the bubblers were still in place and not plugged, causing water to remain in the lines. Thankfully I checked or I would have had severe damage to the underground plumbing! I placed the winter plugs on the lines myself to avoid any water leaking back into the remainder of the lines. When E-mailed to have the issue corrected, I got a generic response "I'll schedule an appointment when the technicians are in your area again". 2 weeks later I got an appointment. Thankfully, there were no cold nights prior to them coming. When they arrived to fix THEIR MISTAKE, they opened the pool and saw a significant amount of water had returned for rain. The tech again insisted on draining the water below the skimmer, despite me telling them it was not necessary. The response was "well then we can't drain the lines". I allowed them to drain the water, planning on adding it back later. To my surprise, I went back outside and observed them draining the water significantly below the skimmer, approximately 20" below the water line this time, and attempting to drain below the ledge. When confronted, the tech said "this is the only way to do it". He then removed the plugs I put in and pointed out "yea there's water in there", as if I didn't know already. They then made no effort to double check that none of the other water features had water in the lines, and only blew out the water from here. I asked if it was possible the other lines had water an he replied "no" and walked away. When the techs finally finish the job, they are aggressive and will ask you to write a review of not only the company but them as individuals, then try to sell you on "winter services" which are basically $20 with of chemicals and they verify the water line has not risen above what they think it should. It was uncomfortable and pushy as they tried to sell the service. Save yourself $350 and buy the shock yourself and buy a small pump on amazon that you can attach to a hose and can do the same thing (if necessary). As I said before, If this company has knowledge of your pool, they probably do an acceptable job, but if they aren't familiar with it, they will do whatever they want and likely cause severe damage when you attempt to open the next season. **Update** I've updated my review to three stars. After my review, I was contacted by the service manager multiple times to attempt to remedy the unsatisfactory service. They did everything in their power to make sure they corrected the issue and offered a refund for the service. read more

I've been using millenium pools for a few years now and I've had a great experience with them. Whenever I had an issue they really worked with me to fix it. Their technicians are very courteous and knowledgeable. When they miss doing something with the weekly service they come back once I call them. I had a leak last year and the work involved breaking concrete and replacing all the piping and skimmer. They handled it great, they cleaned up after themselves and they gave me all the updates I needed. Shout out to my technician this year LaZar ! He's very polite, is on time and is careful when the pool cover is filled with water After a rain storm. He drains it well before opening the pool ! That could really make the tracks cave if not done properly. I definitely recommend millenium! They work with you if you have any concern or complaint ! read more

As good as it gets ....for the moment. But, seriously lets talk about the good, bad, and ugly. After being with one other local pool company for 20 years, I switched to Millennium Pool about 4 years ago. After I fired the first two companies on my pool renovation project. This year, I have been very happy with pool opening. The techs did a great job setting up pool. Water looks almost clear after 24 hours. Most of debris vacuumed out already. This makes my life so much easier. In past, I would have to do several back washes for first week ( at least 2-3 times ), constantly cleaning the Polaris, and dumping skimmers. With Millennium Pool's winter service, the water looks clear when the techs remove the pool cover. So Millennium Pool gets my endorsement this year. Some information for existing or new pool owners. The pool industry is very seasonal up in Virginia. So, in general there is a high turn over in staffing. Moreover, as with many seasonal services, the business are at the mercy of policies pertaining to Visas. Last few years, business have been severely cut back when it comes to visa red tape. As you can imagine, this causes problems. In general the pool industry has the new pool construction side and service / renovation side. Both have their own area of specializing. Many of the so called full service pool companies actually sub / outsource different aspects of the project. So, get all your info upfront. In short, we all have our strengths and weaknesses. Thus far Millennium Pool has exceeded my expectations ...for a pool service company. They saved my bacon helping me open my major pool renovation project, done a great job opening / closing my pool, great job with minor coping and caulking repairs, and awesome job A++++ fixing my massive pool leak. It is rare that I give a good rating to a company that made multiple mistakes, but often with a service provider, it is not the mistakes that matter, it is how they are handled. The initial issue was schedule delays, which were expected due to rain, but the salesman did a lousy job of communicating changes. The crew that did the work left our property a mess. The plaster job appears to be well done, but rain at the end of the job allowed some staining on the new work. Once we made it clear how upset we were the company did some brick work at no charge, more than compensating for the mess left. The stains were removed and afterwards our water was analyzed and put in perfect balance. Based on this response, I would not hesitate to hire this company again. read more

Millennium has corrected the issue with the pump by installing an appropriate two speed timer at their expense. It now runs great and keeps water circulating at a low rate all the time, with a shorter period of time on high speed. I hired Millennium Pool (MP) to perform a complete renovation of my pool and pool deck. This renovation job included: new concrete, flagstone patio, drainage, coping, tile, plaster, salt cell, and repair of PVC underground pipes and above ground valves. MP project manager was Brian and he was very reliable. MP and their sub contractors did an amazing job. It was a large project involving many crews, specialists, and sub specialists. Each one was very skilled and experienced. Pedro did all the concrete demo and casting. He also built me a brand new flagstone patio with re-bar, new steps, and new drainage throughout the structure. His work was excellent. MP also oversaw the work for the new coping, tile, plaster, installation of the new salt system, new skimmer, and replacement of lights. The end result was amazing and we are very pleased. Dwayne and his service crew came and repaired two broken return pipes that were the source of a leak. He was extremely thorough and methodical in his work. MP also did two weeks of plaster care after the renovation and the weekly maintenance service. Dimitar Kolev was truly excellent and very, very smart. He explained the plaster care and helped me calibrate my new salt cell so that it is optimized. He did an amazing job with the regular cleaning and maintenance. He took the time to answer all my picky questions and was very patient. He was excellent at explaining how everything worked and why he was doing what he was doing. I learned a lot from him. Andrew L. and his team came to install the cover. I called Millenium Pools after Labor Day when they were already into pool closing season. Despite the high demand, their estimator visited me within days and I had the estimate soon after; did not wait more than a few days. I accepted the estimate near the end of its 30 day validity and Millenium scheduled a work start right away. I waited to accept because I was waiting for estimates from competitors, but most of the other pool service companies either did not show or did not produce an estimate. Once scheduled, they showed up on time to scoop out the old mastic around the pool edge. We had just finished 5 days of rain, so they recommended waiting a day or two for good drying, ensuring better longevity of the mastic. Millenium Pools' scheduler communicated with me about the reasons and the timing of finishing the job. Two employees came out to install the new mastic on the weekend. 24 hours later, the new mastic looks great and I am very pleased. High praise to Millenium for being reliable even during the busy season, and for being very easy to work with. read more
