Landed early for a bachelorette and needed a spray tan and lucked into this little gem. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a special where you pay $20 to use spa facilities for the day, I picked the water massage bed, red light bed (for skin rejuvenation not tanning), the infrared sauna for a private Pilates class (led by instructor on screen prerecorded), and finally a spaceship-like steam bed that's supposed to hydrate you.. or something . All of it was a little bit of a stretch in the health benefits side I think, but I sure as hell get super relaxed at the end! In between the sessions I used a full-body massage chair they had as well. My spray tan was ok. They provided these nifty stick feet so your soles don't look like Saturn. There were two spray tans to pick from. I got the affordable one, and the pigment was just a lot more orange than I prefer. The voice in the booth was also super low volume so I panicked that the session would turn into a Friends episode, the one where Ross gets a tan but I survived. Cleanliness was good! Would've been great if they had a personal storage locker and offered robes at the beginning. I think it would've been helpful for the staff to outline your schedule before you start the day. It was a little confusing not knowing where to go next, etc. Overall great experience, if I lived there I would definitely revisit! read more

The times posted on maps doesn't reflect their true operating hours. I showed up at 10:10am when online says it was open at 10am and no one was here. I just feel like if they supposedly open at 10am, someone should be here 30 minutes prior to ensure everything is ready to go and allow for tardiness on their end. Also, their beds were down for a couple weeks due to "electrical issues" and when I went to a different location, I was told I had to pay $10 every time I wanted to use their beds. (when I signed up, this was never mentioned to me-- I figured you could use any location. So it just would have been nice to know this) There was not any sort of accommodations offered. The ladies that work here are every nice and accommodating, but I feel like the business should be run a little better. read more

Customer service for this location has been awful in the last few months. I moved to a different part of town and tried to get my membership moved once in person and once over the phone. This was never done as I called the other location to check multiple times. Last month I received 2 charges of my monthly fee. When I called to ask for an explanation, I was told a manager would call me back. It's been weeks and no call back. I then asked that my membership be cancelled due to the frustration of it all and I haven't received confirmation of that either. Horrible way to run a business. read more

The primary reason I continue to visit this location is the incredible customer service of Joni. She is professional, courteous, and accommodating. I had an appointment to get a spray tan before my cruise. I went and the door was locked and the lights were off. Even though the sign out front said open and the hours of operation were on the front door. I called and the phone went straight to voicemail. It was too late in the day to find anyone else to do my tan. I work knights and my skin is pastey white and Only burns and peels. Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed. When you advertise on your website first spa session is free. And under the list of spa sessions there is spray tan, you would assume the spray tan is free. I even called to make an appointment and double check that it wasn't too good to be true. However once I arrived they acted like I didn't make an appointment said they could fit me in and informed me it would be a $54 charge. This is false advertising and a scam. read more

No just the employees but everyone I've interacted with there has been pleasant. But also this employees ---- oh crap! They make you feel comfortable, confident, and sincerely care about your experiences - the concept of customer service could be defined here. 2. Sweating and detoxing. So many options exist fur sweating, detoxing and burning calories. Pick your in level from just laying around sweating in a treatment bed to yoga. 3. Relaxing. These people are completely evil. They changed my location membership without telling me after they closed a location without telling me then told me my membership was finally cancelled after sending me on a wild goose chase from location to location all over Louisiana and now after 6 months or so of radio silence I was lead to believe it was finally over, they slap me in the face with a $70 charge?? Do not sign with them they will NEVER stop charging you. I have literally gotten 1 spray tan with them for over a year and have now been charged over $250. Absolute trash company with 0 customer service. Their corporate line doesn't even work. They will likely charge me until I die and then charge my relatives. Screw you Planet Beach. read more

Got the machine spray tan done, it was fine a little buggy but I fingered it out. Staff was nice, hot too. Real hot, I got a crush on her for sure. She sold me on the 4 visits for a hundred... I chose to wait to review this place because just a few weeks ago I was furious. Okay so here's my story... I signed up for a membership plan. And I take complete blame and responsibility for signing that contract and not realizing that it was for a minimum of 1 year. I had gone to other tanning salons before and I have always been able to cancel at any time. So, okay I didn't read the fine print - my fault. I was over charged because apparently one month's charge didn't go through because of NSF. That is completely and utterly impossible! I always keep track of my charges and I've always paid off my balance at the end of the month AND I've never maxed out my card. So this just can't be true. So because it didn't go through, they charged me another $20. It took me a while to get someone on the phone to help me out with the situation. Si I gave up on calling and actually went there. There was only one person working and she had to deal with my issue, along with a bunch of other things that were going on. I was in a rush because I had a whole lot of errands to run and I didn't have time to deal with this. But nonetheless, I stayed and waiting on her to try to resolve the problem - and she was very distracted. The lady kind of played the blame game with me. She said there was nothing she could do about it and that I had to take it up with the bank. Well, that would have saved me a whole lot of time and frustration if someone had just told me that over the phone. The bank was another issue - as usual I got the run around and they asked me for all sorts of stuff, like a receipt, etc. I decided that $20 wasn't worth the headache. I was already worked up from one thing happening after another that I was short tempered and very annoyed, that I just walked out and left after the lady told me, "Well you should read what you sign. It's not my fault you didn't read." I am still paying $40 a month and I am resistant to going back and actually using my membership because of such a silly thing. I can't even go to the Tchopatoulis location to use my membership - it's a lot closer to me. I'm going to try to suck it up and just go... I feel like the whole situation could have been handled better and I wish the lady that sold me the membership would have told me that it was a minimum of one year. read more

Still love this place and their employees but just have to warn you to be really careful when using their hydro station, I attempted to reposition bc you're in there for a while and the roof of the bed burnt my knee pretty badly. I am aware that the roof is where the heat comes from but I consider myself to be a fairly small woman and if even I couldn't reposition a bit without getting scorched...well you get the idea. Eh, kinda dirty. I'm used to nicer beds and better bulbs than the ones they use here. Also, there are usually SO many people there using the beds that by the end of the day you can hardly touch them because they're so hot. The bulbs aren't very strong and they dont give you much color either. On the other hand, they're a lot less expensive than what I'm used to. (but i think they've raised their prices since I was last there.) I'm not sure if there are many other options in New Orleans other than the planet beach. However, if you're looking for a place to go tanning - I'd reccommend looking harder. You should also consider making a reservation if you're going during the school year. Lots of Tulane & Loyola girls frequent this planet beach and it tends to get REALLY crowded. Also, I had a membership with them and they continued to charge my credit card after I cancelled. I cannot say enough good things about this Planet Beach and their staff (Amber in particular, sorry if that's not her name, I'm bad at names!) I've had very bad experiences with a few other locations but this one will have me driving all the way from Destrehan for ANY of my tanning needs! I chose to try this location out because of the good reviews & not wanting to turn orange from a spray tan the night of a Christmas Party so I drove the extra miles. Amber was extremely helpful, made me feel SO comfortable, asked many questions to better suit what look I was going for, and was super friendly! Everything was so clean and so cute! Ok so I am convinced! I have not been coming to planet beach in riverbend long but am certain I have found the perfect spa! As a lifelong athlete, I have developed a great deal of stiffness and soreness in my joints due to all the miles I have put on myself. I recently inquired about the different types of services that may help with some of my issues. I was incredibly surprised to learn about the hydromassage and the sauna services from the extremely knowledgeable and friendly young ladies working there. Since my first experience a little over a week ago, I have been back multiple times to enjoy the services and each time I leave feeling like a million bucks! Today... was the BEST YET! I absolutely love this place. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the facilities are clean, and the whole experience makes you feel fantastic. In one week I've seen my cellulite go down. My skin is already much more taut and I leave each time with a grin. This PB location is well maintained, well staffed, and easy to drop into. My only sadness is that there are no one-on-one massages. Otherwise, the monthly parties with food and drink are fun and relaxing! The staff gives you a goal oriented regime and remember your name. I will update my review based solely on the fact that Vicki the owner took time to call me less than 24 hours after this event occurred. I appreciate it and it does show good business ethics, I hope that this is a one time occurrence and that one day I'll visit a planet beach for a spray tan again. Today I visited your location on river bend; I had an appointment for a spray tan. Upon my arrival I filled out paperwork and sat and waited for someone to help me. The woman working the desk said corporate was working on their computers so it would be just a few minutes. As I was waiting there is a heated discussion between this same manager and a customer. That goes on and on... finally she says I'm up. I go to the counter where she put me in, explains products, and sells the cartridge and accelerator to me. I have a SPAWEEK.COM gift-card to use (She had never taken one) so that takes about 15 minutes of back and forth with the other "manager". She gets it to go thru 25$ and I pay the remaining on my debit card. Now she (Gina) takes me to the spray tan room. She goes over everything and says she will set it. Ten minutes later the machine NEVER comes on, so I get dressed and go to the front. Gina is now the only one in the front. I told her the machine never came on and she proceeds to let me know that the other manager never put me in the system; therefore she couldn't set the machine. At this time I request a refund, but she says she will put her number in for me because she doesn't know how to refund. I agree, keep in mind I have now been here 45+ minutes. I go back to the back and wait on it to start again, only this time the sensor doesn't recognize my hand in front of it. I try three, four, five times before I just give up and get dressed again. Go back to the front where now both managers are. I request a full refund; alexia tells me there will be no full refund because they already opened the cartridge and the accelerator. But I have been here for an hour and your machine has yet to produce my spray tan. How could you not refund my money for a service I DID NOT RECEIVE? She was the most disrespectful person I have ever encountered in customer service! She ended up refunding only the session and not the cartridge 10$ or the accelerator 7$. All while talking to me like an idiot. Now I have my gender reveal party tomorrow for my baby that I will give birth to in four months. I will not have a nice golden tan that I have received from other locations; instead I will be down $17 and also have to horrible memory of what happened on this day at this location with this so called manager. I will let everyone I know to never visit this location. Something needs to be done about her; she should not be working in your establishment. The friendly and helpful staff talked me through the whole process, and my tan ended up looking great!! I was always against UV tanning but when I got a coupon for planet beach I decided to stop in and check it out. The staff is super friendly and knowledgable about their products and services. I was expecting just to tan here but I now stop by at least 3 days a week for a steam bath and massage. The sauna is awesome too! I've tried the hydration & red-light therapy beds & they are incredible. My skin is looking & feeling better than it has in years after just a few weeks. I was looking just to tan but the overall benefits I'm seeing with my skin by also using the hydration and red light will keep me coming back for those more often than the tanning. I haven't tanned in awhile but I walked in and these ladies made it quite easy and enjoyable! Great with keeping up with equipment and bulbs, they also have an unlimited month of tanning with no contract which is great for students! The new management is great with the products and the beds, but the service has gone downhill quite a bit. The girls are outright rude, but I just don't talk. Or talk as little as possible. I had never stepped foot in a tanning bed or gotten a spray tan before I went to Planet Beach a little over a week ago, and I am for sure visiting in the future. I'm pretty pale and needed a little glow for my formal, so I went in the tanning bed a few times then got a mystic spray tan. The service was excellent! The staff answered all my annoying questions 'cause I was just a little nervous, and they made everything simple and relaxing. Honestly, I think the spray tan really did the trick. All my friends kept telling how great my tan looked AND IT WASN'T ORANGE AT ALL. I have absolutely no complaints and I'm probably gonna go again soon! read more

Love this place! The Red Light Therapy bed and Red Light facial are my favorite!! I've seen my skin transform in just a few weeks! My acne prone skin has calmed so much. As well as those problem areas have improved (you know, that awesome cellulite on those thighs...yay). Their products are a dream. I use their facial and body products everyday in the shower and at the spa. All organic and actually really good quality. I was super impressed! They have some great nutrition supplements as well. And they aren't filled with all the junk and fillers like most places. Everything is organic and actually really good for you! The detox program is what I used when I first started there and holy moly. After that 14 day detox, I felt like a new person. Too many good things to say. I have to stop. I've been a member with the planet beach company for many years, and I must say this location has been the worst with staffing. The current employees, not mentioning names, are very rude. One young lady goes outside and smoked constantly causing the place to smell of stale cigarettes. The other young lady is just plain out rude. I had questions on products and was told I could find info about them on the website instead of them telling me about the products. I do not recommend this location now to anyone. Previously at the end of last year, beginning of this year I would have because the two young lady's who used to be here were great. So I went into This Location this afternoon and it was a nightmare!!!! I was ready to purchase 4 Year membership for my husband and myself. When I walked in the girl at the desk was so rude!! I understand that she had about 4 people in the lobby and was busy, but she could of been nicer since I was planning on being a customer. After waiting 15 minutes to be addressed, She told me all the services were full and I would have to come back another day. Prior to being told this I over heard her phone conversation talking badly about Managment and Ownership, as well as cursing loudly. I definitely didn't feel like I was at a spa. I wanted to walk out before but my husband really wanted to tan. My experience was terrible. I really wish the owner or manager would of been there to assit me, maybe I would of became a customer.
