Helped me design and customize all of it and was super helpful. He also constructed the bike for me - even going to the extra work of fitting modern parts on a retro frame. This is the biggest piece of garbage bike store in New Jersey. I was in the Matawan store last week to ask about trading in 7 bikes due to a death in the family. Mike told me to bring the bikes in for cash or a trade/in towards a new bike. I go back to the store today, two different guys in the store. They tell me that bike trade-ins are 1-for-1 and no cash. So, to trade-in 7 bikes (all DeRosa's), I would have to buy 7 bikes. Thanks to Mike for wasting my time after I rented an extended bed pick-up trick to make the trip. Horrible service.. Worth it to drive to another location. I live less than a mile away and I would rather drive to another store. When you go to the door and speak to them, it's always like if you are bothering them or asking for a handout. These bikes cost alot of money and the servicing is not cheap either. I'm usually not a stickler for things, but I had to share my experience. I'm sure many people have had good experiences here. Walk in with my son to buy him a new bike. For some reason, the guy who didn't say hello to us and seemed irritated to help us showed me a bike that cost $400. My son is 8 years old. I get it though, this isn't Walmart. It's a legit bike store. Then when my son went to sit on the bike this douche recommended, he yelled at him like the kid was about the blow up the store. Strike one. I also brought my Trek in for repairs. Warning for anyone looking for a bike tune up. Don't make the same mistake I made. Apparently I had bypassed what's officially known as the "inspection area", which is nothing more than a portion of the store with a carpet. So here was the exchange. Tyler, yes, his name is Tyler, a young tall ugly looking dude, tells me, with a nasty tone, "Yo bro, what are you doing you're shoving your bike in my grill." I went right back at him cause the day I take shit from a 20 something year old named Tyler is the day I am officially dead. What a total douchebag. Absolutely horrible customer service. Customers should never be spoken to that way. Especially when I made an innocent mistake that affected ABSOLUTELY NO ONE!!! I went to the store today a guy came out I asked about brakes for my bike he said he has too many repairs and cannot take any more work. I thought to myself are you kidding me who turns down work? Tyler and Tony are great! Very knowledgeable, informative and helpful! My family and I went in for bike shoes for my spin classes and I got a great pair at a good price. My kids tried out a few bikes and are looking forward to going back to pick out their favorites :). My son was very interested in a BMX bike, which he's never had before. Tyler was very informative and even gave a website to check out with BMX tricks. To further encourage my son to get into the sport Tyler took his bike out as we were leaving to show us a few of his tricks. My kids were very impressed! Very fun, great experience :) read more

The staff seems inexperienced about the differences in different bikes and how they compare across brands. The associate was trying to sell us a bike as though it was this year's model, but when we got the book to pick out a color he realized the bike wasa last year's model. He was not sure of the current inventory but my biggest concern was pricing. The bike I was interested in had a price tag of $759 hanging on it, but when he brought the book to decide color the price was $599. He then went to "double check" in the back, and miraculously the price should have been marked at $599. I didn't feel as though this was an honest mistake. Someone who wasn't knowledgeable about bikes would have paid the tagged price. Buyer beware and always price compare with other stores. read more

I stopped by the store to get a price on replacement pedals for my mountain bike and I was able to get a cheap pair for $15.00 and the guy put them on for free..Yay(nice guy right!!!). He ran into a little problem when doing this an remarked from the back that one of the pedals was stripped on??? I didn't know what that meant as I acquired the bike from someone else. Anyway that must have put him in a bad mood because when he came out I said thank you paid him and asked him a question about how to raise the seat. He responded "with a screw driver". I said "well do you have one that I can use?", He responded "No!, I'm busy right now! "and proceed to deal with another customer. How rude!!, He basically dismissed me, I just stood there in shock. The staff (John and Mike) really knew what they were talking about and helped the scouts get what they needed for safe cycling. In the past, they always provided good service for me and my family. I've use these guys for many years, happily spending hundreds of dollars on tuneups for my road bike as well as upgraded components and accessories. Unfortunately, I had a rather poor customer service experience recently and I doubt I will ever go back again. The manager had agreed to a 10% discount for a hybrid bike for my daughter if I paid cash. I came in about a week before Christmas and put up a 50% down payment. I came back a couple days later to pick up the bike and was told my 10% discount was not valid since the manager was not there. I was told that a 3% discount for cash payment was their standard. However they did not offer that to me either and I paid full price for the bike. As I was leaving I was told to come back to the store the following day with the manager was there to resolve the issue. A customer should not have to have this type of negative experience. It could have been avoided if either the manager had written on the invoice that I was paying cash and I was to get a 10% discount or the manager could have called me the next day to review the issue. Also, as this was a Christmas present I had no choice but to pay full price and take delivery of the bike that day. I will update this review if the manager calls me and offers to make the situation right. Until then, I recommend all readers take their business to bicycle hub on route 79. read more

Went to buy 2 bikes looking for a decent deal, and was told I would be given 5% of the total price would be put towards in store merchandise. Would be cool if I was a hardcore bicyclist that wore all the fancy skin tight gear and cared about how I looked while riding through the woods on a bike. But im not. Just want a bike I can ride through the woods. When my brother and I tried to hack the price down a measly 50-75 dollars, we were quickly corrected on what the price is, and what the price will remain.
